5.FAQ of Natural Light Bamboo Cane Fence Panel Screen
How to do daily cleaning?
Only use the brush to clean dust from the gap
- Q: Besides using bird houses, feeders, and baths. Do you use your flower beds and landscaping to attract birds to your yard? What plants do you use? How do you layout your garden in respect to birdbaths, feeders and houses?
- Depending on whether you want to attract specific birds or just any that are usual to your area, you can also leave parts of your garden more natural and less manicured. By this i mean, don't pick up every dead leaf when it falls. Leaf falls are good places for birds to find insects. And i agree with others that have said don't use pesticides. They kill off many of the bugs that birds eat and they are harmful to the birds as well. As to your birdbaths, they should be set no more than a couple of yards away from trees or bushes so that they have a place to fly off to when the inevitable cat shows up. You can also attract other creatures to your garden as well that can be beneficial. I live in the netherlands and in our garden we have a hedgehog that lives in it year round. It's a small garden but because we leave leaves and such in parts of it...the hog has a constant supply of food.
- Q: We have clutter like the shed, playground and bricks that my mother does not want to remove. Also, we have weeds growing and tons of branches so I don't know what to do. Let alone, my mother keeps on saying landscaping is needed but she very rarely asks for a person to cut the grassand we don't have the budget to cut our two tall trees.
- Bundle the branches up and tie them with string, put out with the trash if you confirm your trash removal company accepts yard waste. Once they are gone, a good raking to remove leaves and dead grass using a lawn rake, bag them up and get rid of them. Tidy up the bricks and any loose items you want to keep and stack behind the shed if possible. Once all the yard is clean, look at any high or low spots, get a few bags of topsoil from Home Depot ( $1.29 a bag) , some grass seed, and a small bag of starter fertilizer. The cost should be under $50 for everything. Use the soil in low spots, and then sprinkle the grass seed and starter wherever there is a bald spot and in the new topsoil. Water lightly but often, the idea is to wash the oily covering off the seed, but not wash the seed away. Keep it moist for a week and you will have new grass growing. Follow the directions on the seed package for proper lawn care once up.
- Q: I have a small home garden my backyard about 20' by 4'. I have the standard home garden vegetables planted, tomatoes, peppers, basil, celery, etc. I was thinking about planting some red clover in between all the plants to create a nice bed that will choke out weeds so I don't have to weed all the time, put some nitrogen back in soil, and hold in moisture during those long hot dry spells here in New Jersey. The plants are all at least a foot tall now. Would you recommend this? Or would the clover and the vegetables start competing and therefor take away from my harvest? I figured they are all big enough now that the clover will stay well below them. But I don't know if underground there will be a battle going on with the root systems. I already plan on planting the clover in the fall when everything is done growing and then till it in in the spring. Thanks!
- The trick with a cover crop is that you are tilling it into the soil before it flowers to return the nitrogen it pulls from the air into the soil. Planting it between garden plants might not be the best. If you do it, you'll at least want to mow it regularly to keep it from flowering, setting seed, and coming up EVERYWHERE in your garden. Usually cover crops are sown, grown, and tilled under either in the off season (fall/winter/early spring) or for a season in a field that is being rested (growing no crops that you're going to harvest).
- Q: I am planning to get a home spa. Any tips about which one to buy?
- Raji, go visit a Home Garden Show, which are plentiful in California and along the westcoast. There you find exhibits of so many spa dealers, that they literally fall over each other.
- Q: I just got him 3 days ago. I feed him at 7am and then take him out for 15-20 minutes to potty, at 10am i leave to work and leave a little bit of food and water. I work from 10am-6pm (2-3 days a week), and i can't come by at lunch. My neighbor has agreed to check up on him, but not i'm not sure if at 12 or 1. He's already peed and pooped all over the living room and i know that's normal for a puppy because they can't hold it too long.Around 6:30-7pm i feed him again and then take him outside for another 15-20 minutes. I noticed that he doesn't like to be on the sidewalk and is usually messing around where ever there is grass. My question is when i'm home, How many times should i take my puppy out when i'm home? Is there a general rule? Is 15-20 minutes enough for the puppy? I don't have a backyard, it only a small area for him to walk on concrete but the front has a small grass area.Thanks.
- He should also go out as soon as you get home from work and right before you go to bed and as soon as you wake up in the morning and right before you leave. He should still be going out right after he eats. He should have at least 40 min. of walking/running outside everyday (if weather permits) plus the potty breaks where you stay close to the house to speed it up. Also, you might find it better to crate train him or at least have him in a pen if you don't already while you are gone and sleeping. There should not be any food left down when it is not feeding time and especially when you are not available to take him out. And only a little water should be provided, not enough to make him need to pee. One more thing. Right now he will prefer to walk on grass because his pads are soft and tender. On your walks you should alternate between letting him walk on grass and making him walk on the road. Good luck!
- Q: I keep some for my coffee table ,Home and living ,garden home but the Huisgenoot goes to the dustbin when we are done . I have a collection of very old ones that I treasure like a 1978 Huisgenoot with a visit to pres.John Vosters house ,Libertas .
- In South Africa I used to have a nice collection of National Geographic magazines. I also had a pile of electronic and Getaway magazines. I never used to buy any of the other ones. I always borrowed the girlfriends ones to read.
- Q: I plan on buying some flowers for my garden that are already grown (i can't germinate seeds for the life of me :( ). Would it be benefical to take these plants out of the plastic trays they come in and transfer them to peat pots and then plant them in my garden? I'm new at this, and my soil quality it very poor, so i'm trying to find the best method. Thanks :)
- I agree, transferring young plants from the plastic tray pots to a peat pot is a waste of money and actually delays its growth. I have tried container gardening, but the results are disappointing with low yield. Your money is put to better use in buying inexpensive soil amendments to mix into the top soil. If you plant tomatoes and have clay soil, then I dig a hole about 15 in diameter and a foot and a half deep, put some granular plant food at the bottom and cover it with 2-3 inches of good soil. Then I bury the plant and start back-filling the hole with 50% native clay and 50% redwood soil conditioner/amendments (cheap, I bought a 3 cu.ft. bag for $6.99 at a local Home Depot Garden Center.) Initially the plants did not even come to the top of the hole, but I kept adding soil mix as they grew. 3 years ago I had a bumper crop of Beefstake tomatoes. One plant yielded 75 pounds of fruit, including the green ones I harvested at New Year's Eve (no frost to that date) and put in a box covered with newspaper to ripen them. Even those late harvest fruit tasted not much worse than the ones I've bought at Safeway for $2.50 a pound.
- Q: Why each thing is important? Thanks!
