Q: Local nurseries are in business to sell stuff. Every garden question I have always come with some product they have to sell. I call it my $20 answer. The people at answers have been great. Thank you. Unfortunatly what does well for you in New York or Denver isn't much help to me where I live down here by the Mexican boarder in California. I am in need of answers that will help in my back yard. Answers without a price tag. Any suggestions? Thanks to all you wonderful gardeners where ever you live!

Q: My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and i wanted to get him a bonsai tree since he can't stop talking about them. Where can i buy one at that isn't too expensive? I was thinking maybe the home and gardens section at home depot or something like that. It needs to be a place i can drive to and nothing online.Thank you so much!
Home and Gardens, Wal Mart, Target, Asian store, K mart, Raley's..These are places I have seen them except Kmart I'm just assuming on that. I don't know for sure as each individual store doesn't sell exactly the same things. I have even seen them at Bog Lots before too. :) Good Luck!
Q: Has anyone been to the National home gardening club website? If you are interested in gardening they have a great and forum, gardening ideas and more. I am interested in gardening and have tried the Yahoo gardening chat room and it was full of middle eastern guys trying to pick me up and girls trying to get me to look at thier pics. I guess I am nieve, I thought someone might want to talk about gardening on there. So if your lookin for somewhere to check out, try this site...

Q: I have a garden that is 15' by 30' and I would like to but some sort of mini irrigation system in it. It doesn't have to be automatic I just want it to be more efficient that using a hose. Do you know of any specific brand or kit that I should use? Links to what you are taking about would be great. Thanks!
Drip tape or a drip hose is a good idea. You can find that at any home and garden store. There are even timers you can buy for the hose so that you don't have to turn it on and off. since you have a fairly small garden it might be cheaper to just buy a sprinkler or two. But you have to be careful not to leave water droplets on large leafed plants, like squash, during the heat of the day, this can damage the plant. That's where the timer might come in handy again, water them right at dawn.
Q: Do you think this house is one of those modular homes with an addition?
No, I think it was just built that way, but you won't know unless you see it in person.
Q: in my home garden, due to a lot of plants, there are a lot of mosquitoes, i know i could just use bug zapper at places but still it is a risk sleeping out in my garden or having dates in the garden and spending a lot of time in the garden, can i regularly spray Anti-Mosquito#92;Mosquito Killer Sprays on plants to get rid of mosquitoes? will it be bad for plants?will it also be bad for the vegetables those plants are producing?is there any other way to get rid of mosquitoes from garden?
Mat is correct as far as Roundup is concerned. It is safe to use on weeds in lawns because it clings to the leaves of the weeds and doesn't get deposited in the soil. Now if you need to kill an area again to get rid of stubborn weeds, don't use chemicals. Plain old white vinegar will do the job, but it requires a lot. Let the weeds curl up and die from the vinegar, then water the soil well 2 or 3 times over the course of a week. You can replant after that. White vinegar will also kill ant hills as well as gasoline does, but the soil recovers Use it to kill the weeds in your sidewalk, too.
Q: Mine is in storage, and I need measurements for the Chicken Mole de Cacahuete (peanut sauce) I make it all the time from scratch but when I was first learning I used this as a guide for measurement purposes. My daughter now wants the recipe and I could only give her the ingredients with out measurements. An ingredient list with measurements would be great! I don't need the instructions. P.S. The Chicken Mole Verde or Mole de Tomatillo on the page opposite this in the cookbook is yummy too. I made it once when I was 14. Thanks to anyone that can help with this particular cookbook. It actually has some pretty good recipes in it.
I happened to have this recipe in my personal collection. I don't have the other one. I have listed a link to the book below Chicken with Peanut Mole Sauce (Pollo en Mole de Cacahuate) Yield: 6 to 8 servings 1 (4-pound) stewing chicken, cut up 8 cups water 4 stalks celery with leaves 1 medium carrot, sliced 1 small onion, cut up 2 sprigs parsley 2 teaspoons instant chicken bouillon granules 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1/2 of a 10-ounce can (2/3 cup) tomatoes with green chiles 2 slices white bread, torn 2 Tablespoons creamy peanut butter 4 whole cloves 3 whole black peppercorns 1 (1/2-inch stick) cinnamon 3/4 teaspoon chili powder 1 small clove garlic, minced Place chicken pieces in Dutch oven with water. Add celery, carrot, onion, parsley, bouillon granules, pepper. Bring to boiling. Cover cook over low heat 2 to 2-1/2 hours or till chicken is tender. Remove chicken pieces. Place in a 2-quart casserole. Strain broth; skim off fat. Reserve 1-1/2 cups of the broth for sauce (cover refrigerate remaining broth for another use). To prepare mole de cacahuate: In blender container place the reserved chicken broth, tomatoes with green chiles, bread, peanut butter. Cover blend till smooth. Turn into 2-quart saucepan. With mortar pestle crush cloves, peppercorns, cinnamon well; add to saucepan along with chili powder garlic. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat simmer, uncovered, 15 to 20 minutes or till thickened, stirring often. Spoon mole de cacahuate over chicken in casserole. Bake, covered, in 350-degree F. oven 30 to 40 minutes or till heated through. Recipe Source: Better Homes Gardens Mexican Cooking (Better Homes Gardens)

You could either dig some up or photograph it take it to your county ag dept or to a nursery where you shop or are willing to shop. In fact, call them find out if you could send the photo by Internet. Likewise, if there's a garden program on the radio, maybe you could call them or email them via the stations website send in the photo. Also, there may be a Master Gardener's program in your county. Since they're supposed to volunteer for a certain number of service hours after their master gardening course, one of them may be available for questions.
