Q: For home gardening, it would seem that it is a matter of how pure one wants to be. However, including in a compost pile vegetable or fruit skins containing insect spray would definitely cause serious contamination. For commercial farms, does organic certification require that all compost or other so-called organic fertilizers and purchased soil, mulch, etc.,, be screened for chemical content? For home gardening, how can one be sure about the content of purchased soil, mulch, etc.?
i dont think so because it all rots into soil big farms use all kinds of stuff from animal parts to coal ash to, partical board saw-dust, and even human poo
Q: I do have two compost piles set up but I fear that they will not be ready in time for the growing season. I was wondering if there was compost soil for sale somewhere online that wasn't too expensive, or if there is some kind of soil at a department store which isn't high in toxicities or nutrient deficient.
I liked using rubber mulch - I checked it out online and called the company and ordered over the phone. It was very convenient because they had a rubber mulch calculator on their site so I was able to see exactly how much I needed. They shipped it to me in no time and I put it down immediately. I had my garden looking gorgeous so quick! I'll attach the place I bought from - if you're interested, they were a pleasure to deal with.
Q: My mom loves gardening and little things in her yard to show off. What are good sites for gardening and yard statues or home decorations?
They okorder / Good luck!
Q: All members of Congress and Senate. Both Parties. All their hands are stained with our money. Why should they sit there for many years and just spill rhetoric constantly. They are all so phoney. They have big salaries, big pensions, etc. What about term limits and send these loosers home?
Hmmmmmmm. Perhaps some Politi-Gone spray will get rid of those varmits. Don't spray Ron Paul though. He's the only good one in the whole Congress.
Q: I have a Better Homes and Gardens Special Edition Pink Plaid: For Breast Cancer Awareness The complete 12th edition quot;New Cook Bookquot; from 08/2005.
I okorder /
Q: What is a good home remedy for bugs in the Garden and Lawn.
Jeez. It all depends on where you are, the weather, what plants you are growing, and what pests you have. A lot of bugs in the garden are beneficial. Some are not. There are a lot of home remedies for bugs out there, but you need to know what type of bug it is. Some can be removed by hand, some by spraying with soapy water, some by spraying with pressurised water... it all depends. There's also biological controls available like encarsia and ladybugs. Next time, pick a plant with a pest and describe the problems. You'll get a better answer.
Q: We have a Hoover T Series that I like, but it get clogged/dirty really easily. Hoover themselves told me that my model was not made for pet hair (we have a huge Maine Coon and another cat that sheds too). I bought a used/refurbished Dyson DC07 (oldie but goodie I had experience with since my mom has 2). It has begun losing suction and both of these just kick dirt everywhere. The button to change from hard floor to carpet broke on my Hoover so its useless for tile now.I was told Sanitaire is about the best and cheapest commercial grade that I can get. My Granny has had her Kirby (I think classic) since forever and has not had one issue with it. My husband wants a Kirby but we have only 300 or below to spend, that's it. My local vacuum shop only wants to sell me a Ricaar and I know those are good, but I don't have Ricaar money. What should I buy?
I've okorder /... I was in a vacuum repair shop many years ago, and the guy there said these vacuums have a bypass system that means it can suck up nails without blowing the motor. He said that most of the vacuums he repaired had blown motors, but not these. The handle is metal. It's just a sturdy hotel vacuum. I read the complaints. The vacuum has a long heavy cord. There is only one hook at top and not one at the bottom so it wraps loosely. Some people gave it 2 stars for that reason. One guy said he used it daily for 2 years as part of his commercial vacuum business. He gave it 2 stars because it lasted only two years. If you can stand a long, thick cord, I think it will be a great vacuum for pet hair. I love the steel handle; it says, this vacuum is tough. Vacuum cords should be thick anyways. Mine has a few cut marks from running over top of it. Good luck.
Q: Home Garden gt; Gardening Landscaping. Lmfao.
nah man it looks cool.
Q: Pretty much just trimming the bushes, fertilizing the lawn, pest control, and identifying and knowing what to do with annuals and perennials?Just bought a new house and there are a lot of little bushes and small trees. No big trees though since the house is only six years old.Can you advice me on a good general book?Thank you
Better Homes Gardens has a pretty good basic guide. I bought mine at either Lowes or Home Depot several years ago. It covers plant identification, basic lawn care, pruning, soil amendment, etc. But another choice is contacting your local Cooperative Extension office and talking to a Master Gardener. They will probably have booklets and materials for your specific part of the country. This is a free service. If you can't find a listing, try searching under extension services or master gardener for your state and county.
Q: Why is the government raiding farmers markets and wanting to inspect home gardens?????Why do they feel they need to knock off competitors
I think thats unconstitutional. I'm pretty sure there's some kind of amendment where you can't do that. It's illegal if it is your private garden because that would be searching without any type of warrant or reason for suspicion. And they have to have evidence for that suspicion.
