Q: HelloMy question is about a 2000 Nissan AltimaThe coolant in my radiator seems to be emptying out very often. When I re-fill the radiator and start the car, coolant slowly starts dripping from below the a/c compressor. I do not know if its the a/c compressor that is leaking or some other part there. Is there a possibility that the compressor itself is leaking coolant or could it be the water pump? I checked the hoses that go in and out of the compressor and there seems to be no leak. All I can see is coolant from the bottom of the compressor dripping at a rate of, say 1 drop per 2 seconds.Thank you
check your hoses to the water pump. There should be a hole above or below the water pump shaft. This is the most likely place for a water pump to start leaking. When the bearings in the water pump start to wear out, the shaft going into the pump gets a little loose and will allow coolant to pass the seals of the pump and it comes out the seep hole at the top or bottom of the water pump.
Q: I own a Camaro 1995 V6 3.4L automatic, it was diagnosed that the water pump was leaking and I was going to take it in on Saturday 3/1/08. But this morning I drove it and it seem that the car is losing power the RPM goes all up to 4-5 thousand to make a speed change. The car seems to stall like if it gets stuck the RPM goes up and eventually the next speed kicks in. I will be taking the car in tomorrow 2/27/08 to see whats wrong but I was hoping maybe someone knows whats wrong so that I can have an idea before someone tries to take advantage of me. I do know that the car started leaking water/coolant more than before after that little drive in the morning.The car is very well kept oil change is always on time .I always make sure that the water and the oil is level. transmission fluids are clean. You may have got it hot and blown a head gasket. That would take away the power as it got hotter.

Q: 1.where is it located and what would I have to remove 1st to get to it. And would I need a torque wrench if so what # would it have to be at when re-installing water pump
4A-FE okorder /... it's an externally mounted pump. so as far as pumps go, it's relatively easy. easy for a novice. knowlegeable begginer should be able to tackle it. here's a clip for water pump replacement on a 94 rolla with the 4A-FE engine. engine bay will be slightly different. but the proccess will be exactly the same. since it is on a rolla, some of the equipment removed for ease of access maybe different on yours. may or may not need or wish to crank engine mounts. youtu.be/BiXCCA5dLM0 use that in conjunction with the manual if needed. to do it right, yes. need a torque wrench. but it can be done w/o one. though since you're asking (denotes lack of experience/no insult), i strongly suggest you rent one and use it. can be rented at most any auto parts store. prolly 20 buck for the day.

If you have had a dry spell or live on the top of a hill, the water table will be lower. A dry sump is normal. If on the other hand there is wet ground around the outside of your basement walls, then you have a drainage problem. The water is not reaching your weeping tiles. Get someone to dig down to the tiles and cover them with your municipality's recommended level of gravel/sand

it won't spin whilst you evaluate that's quickly geared to the crankshaft. turn the crankshaft - it is going to then spin. you may no longer eliminate the water pump without eliminating the grab conceal. eliminate the water pump shaft's protecting clip, to eliminate the water pump.
Q: My house uses a pump that draws well water. With a family of four, I had never had a problem running out of water, even through 4 morning showers. Recently however, I have started running low and sometimes even run dry of water, although it’s now just me and my wife living at home. The pump is only a couple of years old. A couple of neighbors also have wells and pumps, so I don’t believe the water shelf has run low. The holding tank is at least 15 years old and probably older. I don’t know if it has a bladder, but I think it does. It’s a Wel-Trol brand. I’ve checked the pressure with a tire gauge and it holds at 30 psi. Also, it seems the cut in and out switch has a mind of its own. It especially would continue to run, even though the pressure hit cut-off level. Any ideas or suggestions?Thanks
Could be the pressure switch (cut in and out switch). It is designed to start the pump at a certain low pressure and stop the pump at a desired high pressure. If it is allowing the pump to run past the high pressure limit, it may also not be kicking in the pump at the low pressure.
Q: Is it ok to drive a car with a bad water pump?
Depends on how bad it is. I had a leaking one for about a month before I took it in. I just kept adding water. So it realy depends on what is bad, the bearings, or the impeller. If it overheats, thats a problem and will blow your engine.
