- Q: My living and dining room are one room. (not a huge room) I bought an area rung which I would consider classic. It has about 9 rows of different color rectangles ( beiges, golds,browns, and burgundies) with a beige border for under my dining room table. I saw another rug with basically the same colors but with more burgundy. It has bigger rectangles that are all different sizes. Some are big stripes and not in any particular order. It is hard to describe. Can I put them together? One in the living room and one under the table? From the end of one to the beginning of other there would only be about 18 inches? Thanks
- It's hard to say without pics but as long as there are a few similar colors between the two then I'd say they'd work great - after all we are talking about two seperate areas in one big space so I wouldn't say they'd have to match exactly.
- Q: Do i need to use a carpet stretcher to install carpet.If i don't use one will it still work alright
- The stretcher is a key component. Without the stretcher you could end up with wrinkles in the carpet and the edges may pose a problem.

- Q: I am in soo much trouble, i am baby sitting at a brand new house. The child im taking care of wet the carpet so i used a hair dryer to dry it out. I found out the carpet was synthetic and it melted, there is a huge melt stain, plz help me, how can i fix it, i will die!!!
- WHAT?? Are you sure that was a hair dryer and not a freekin' HEAT GUN? I've never heard of a hair dryer that was hot enough to melt the typical polymers used in carpeting. In any case, you tried to fix a problem and for some strange reason it didn't work - if I were the owner, I might be upset, but if you really used just a conventional hair dryer, and it indeed melted the carpet, I think I would be more upset with the carpet company. After all, you were trying to do the right thing. Now, if you're lucky, the homeowner will have some spare carpeting that they've saved away for exactly this kind of accident. An experienced carpet layer can surgically replace that using any one of two or three techniques. They can even do this if the homeowner doesn't have some spare carpeting, although that will add some additional cost, and the match may not be quite as good (depends on the color and style, which if the house is new, will hopefully still be available).

- Q: My couch is black leather. I have a glass top coffe table with black legs. My tv is black, and the TV stand is black w/ a very dark wood. Also some other dark wooden misc peices that match. We tried several animal prints, but it ended up look tacky. Any suggestions??
- I have a similar room to yours though opposite colors concerning the wood and walls. I have very light oak for furniture and light fabrics with vibrant blue walls. The area rug I used is a brilliant red. So to my thought... What about a royal blue rug? I have seen some nice ones at Ikea recently. Good luck!
- Q: I have a big rug in my bathroom (Not huge, its about 5' x 3').. it's thick and has a thick rubber back. I don't know how to describe what it's made of, but it's not the usual kind of rug you would find to go around the toilet (with a toilet seat cover to match), it's a more expensive rug and the threads kind of loop up and back in.. lol Does that make sense? Anyway, it's been in my bathroom for a while and I want to wash it but I don't want to ruin it. Help?
- You could try washing it by hand in the tub with soap or put it in the gentle cycle of the washing machine, or take it to the cleaners.

- Q: I just moved into a new apartment about three weeks ago, and the carpet in only one room smells like ammonia. It's a really terrible smell and it won't go away after vacuuming many times. I know they shampooed the carpets before I move in. The lady before me who lived here had a dog. I know urine can smell like ammonia after it's sat awhile. Could it be that her dog peed on the carpet? Any ideas about how to get rid of the smell without shampooing the carpet?
- Yep its dog pee. I would ask the landlord to change the carpet. Vacuuming and shampooing won't get rid of the smell. You could buy a product called urine erase . It works awesome against urine smells. But your better to ask the landlord to replace the carpet. Why should you have to live with a pet pee carpet
