Q: I am in the search of a new computer chair since my $20 wooded one is about to die, but I see so many names that say manager, executive, high back, etc...Which one should i choose? Should i go with the one that says High Back or the one without high back?My height is 6 feet 2 inches and weight is 190 pounds. Thanks for your help.
Executive okorder / High back chairs allow you to rest your head, while mid back and low back chairs don't. Mid back chairs usually don't even reach your neck level. If you sit in your chair for long hours, a high back chair is better.
Q: I just got a new chair for my computer, Its the kind that spins. He's terrified of the chair! How can you make a cat stop being scared of a chair?
I'm guessing he(?) saw it spin and maybe thought of it as something predatory. What I'd do is hold your cat closely in your arms, talking in soft tones and petting him/her then walk slowly to the chair, sit down with your cat still in your arms and just hold him for awhile, then let the chair slowly turn back and forth and just keep talking to him, holding him. After awhile he/she will be more curious than scared; then soon after that he/she will be leaving hair all over your chair and you will have to move him/her to use your computer (like I do!) lol. Truly!
Q: A factory for the construction of quality furniture has 2 divisions: a machine shop where the parts of the furniture are fabricated, and an assembly and finishing division where the parts are put together into the finished product. Suppose that there are 12 employees in the machine shop and 20 in the assembly and finishing division and that each employee works an 8-hour day. Suppose further that the factory produces only two products: chairs and tables. A chair requires 384/17 hours of machine shop time and 480/17 hours of assembly and finishing time. A table requires 240/17 hours of machine shop time and 640/17 hours of assembly and finishing time. Assuming that there is an unlimited demand for these products and that the manufacturer wishes to keep all employees busy, how many chairs and how many tables can this factory produce each day?
Let t and c represent the number of tables and chairs produced each day, respectively. We want the total number of production hours to match the number available. .. (240/17)t + (384/17)c = 12*8 ... machine shop hours .. (640/17)t + (480/17)c = 20*8 ... finishing hours We can eliminate fractions by multiplying the first equation by 17/48 and the second equation by 17/160. .. 5t + 8c = 34 .. 4t + 3c = 17 These equations can be solved by any of the usual methods. Perhaps Cramer's rule is a useful method here. .. t = (34*3 - 17*8)/(5*3 - 4*8) = 17(6-8)/(-17) = 2 .. c = (5*17 - 4*34)/-17 = 17(5-8)/-17 = 3 Producing 2 tables and 3 chairs each day will keep the factory fully occupied.
Q: I bought a hanging chair at the market, but I'm not sure how to attach it to the ceiling without it falling down when somebody sits on it. Help please!
Before you attempt to hang this chair, you need to do the following: 1) Use a stud finder to find the floor joist 2) Once you find it, find the center of the joist 3) Take a drill and a small 1/16th drill bit and drill a pilot hole into the joist. If you see wood in the shavings, you are good. Otherwise you have not hit the joist. 4) Take a lag bolt type hood and screw it into the joist. At least 3 should be in the wood. The deeper you go, the better. 5) Hang your chair. Good luck
Q: I found a very cool shaped very old chair at a junk shop for $5. It is in fairly good shape and sturdy (none of the arms or legs wiggle). But it is missing the seat, which I would imagine was one time a woven cane seat that has fell out. I would prefer not to re-cane a new seat (I have done this before, but I don't find it comfortable to sit on this type of seat and they don't wear well). I would much rather put in a padded upholstered seat, but am not sure how? There is just a large hole in the middle where the seat used to be, and I'm having trouble thinking of ways to attach a piece of wood with padding and upholstery. It doesn't have to be super sturdy, as it won't have more than a 170lb person in it, and will more than likely not be used daily (it will be for our bedroom). Any ideas?Chair similar to this one (no seat)- http://krypton.mnsu.edu/~wayne/Caning/roundchair.JPG
Well, I think the thing to do here is cut a piece of 1/4 plywood and inch or so bigger in each dimension than the hole. then put your piece of foam on it with some spray adhesive, and wrap like quilt batting and upholstery fabric over it and staple underneath. then to attach, without damaging your antique frame, I would say attach some turn button type things. If you glued some blocks onto the plywood just a little thinner than the chair frame, and then some longer blocks screwed to those which trap the chair frame under them.
Q: Does anyone know where I could find a nice dining table and chair set? I live in an apartment and I've decided to go ahead and utilize my dining area for the RIGHT purpose. It's just empty and I really would like a dining table/chair set. Thanks for your help.

Q: i was sitting in my chair checking my email and the chair jerked to the right and now the seat is cooked and its weird becuase when i straightened it out by hand i sat back down and then ittilted to the otherside and now it tilts so bad it almost dumps me out what broke and what can i do to fix it? no i dont weigh much just 150 and the chair is old. so can i save it or just buy a new one, becuase this one is leather and i like it T_T
Check around the chair as there are parts that have become loose and have fallen to the floor. Some are just screws and others are screws with a handle attached. If that is not the problem wait till morning and go have a look at a store for a new chair. Without looking at it. It is going to be a problem to fix.
Q: Ok I have Chair test 4days and already 2 passed and I did HORRIBLE but I know my music Inside out and so right when I hold up my instrument my nerves take over me so much I feel horrible I play the wrong stuff complety and too fast how to overcome these nerves??
it's totally a confidence thing you just have to know you want that chair and you can't let your nerves get in the way. think about it if you know the music inside and out you deserve the chair! your in controll. tap your foot along to keep a SLOW steady tempo. it may also help to practice in front of some of your friends ahead of time to get used to people being around. In the end you can do anything you set your mind to if you are confident and there's no reason not to be. If you make a mistake no big deal rock the rest of it. =] good luck you'll be great.
Q: “I may call a chair, ‘a chair’ and someone may call it ‘a bed.’ Who can say who is right? We’re both right.” What’s wrong with this claim? What’s right about the claim?I really dont understand what could be wrong or right about the claim...if you could help me understand it that would be great! Maybe some of examples of philosophers that could help me understand this claim like Kant i guess. im not to clear on all this. Thanks in advance!
What you have largely created is the beginnings of a postmodern argument. We are in the postmodern era now( most would say). Postmodernism is the view that everything is subjective- mankind cannot understand objective truth- he is lost within the confines of language and his limited senses so he cannot know what truth really is. Although there is logic to back this up, I reject this claim( for the most part) due to Postmodernism's unreconcilable paradox. The paradox is that by its skepticism, it indirectly deconstructs itself, and by using the exact logic it rejects, claims an objective statement. How is it reasonable to make a statement and claim it valid when with the same logic it entails everything else to be invalid? While this may seem off topic, it refers to exactly what you are talking about. I believe in truth to the degree that it is decipherable among empirical human means and observation. Although a chair can be called a table, a chair in the language spoken should allow the speaker as well as the listener to come to a common ground of understanding as to what they are talking about through context clues and other means of common sense. For Example, if I say go sit on the chair. You wouldn't obviously go sit on a table even if you thought 'chair' meant 'table. You would probably question what I meant and we would come to an understanding through means of other words. So, unless you are essentially speaking another language, it is very possible to understand the given object. Using this very logic we are able to use or senses and our logic to understand and establish absolutes.
Q: I'm going to be building dining room chairs and am looking for sites with plans and drawings. Thanks.
1. Flat head Screwdriver 2. Staple Gun 3. 3/8' and 1/2 staples for that gun 4. small pliers (needle nose or regular ones) 5. Enough fabric to cover the chairs plus at least 3 for under the seat to attach it...(You will cut off any excess...yes waste, but if you do it too short...the first time...you waste time, and more fabric correcting the mistake 6. quilt batting (this will go over the existing cushion and the decorator or outer fabric will hold to it and this provides more cushion and bulk and prevents slipping of the Top fabric, also helps to cover the hard corners to prevent holes in the outer fabric. (Has many uses) The outer fabric will hide this as you cut this just big enough to cover the top, sides and maybe 1 1/2 for underneath the cushion. I have recovered my chairs with only a flat head screwdriver (to pull off or loosen the staples holding the present fabric) Needle nose pliers to pull out the staples. A good staple gun (not a NAIL gun) staples about 3/8' to 1/2 and this depends on the type of chair. I would get both to save a trip to the Hardware store later. And the other things I mentioned above...I hope I didn't leave anything out...I dont think so...(2 weekends ago I completely re-did 2 patio chairs seat and the back with new wood, Foam, Fabric, and covered them in clear Vinyl....They look great... Good Luck...it isn't hard..just take your time and measure 2-3 times writing down the measurements, and don't forget to add the underneath amount....
