- Q: hi we bought a new black wool rug last week and since then my life has been taken over by little black hairs! they are all over the laminate floor, the furniture and our clothes. i have tried sweeping the rug but although i get quite a lot of hairs out of it, they just keep coming! my friend got a wool rug a year ago and although it has settled a bit she still has a similar problem. is there anything i can do to speed up the excess fluff loss or am i going to spend the rest of my time with a dustpan and brush in my hands?

- I had this problem with a runner over a carpet. I bought a plastic runner that had teeth on the underside. These teeth sunk into the pile of the carpeting. On top of that plastic runner, I placed an inexpensive non slip rug pad the size of the runner and then placed my carpet runner over it. My carpet runner has not slipped or shifted over the wall to wall carpeting. Perhaps you could do this with strips of the plastic runner along the perimeter of the area rug?
- Q: I have never in my life had a fireplace before, so we were lighting the pilot light on a gas fireplace in an apartment we just got the keys to today. Some black soot type stuff got onto the carpet so I (stupidly) proceeded to spray it with carpet cleaner and blot it! It spread everywhere, and now I don't know what to do.
