Q: i was told that steam cleaning a carpet that has a bad odor will actually cause that odor to remain in the carpet forever. the reason i ask is i plan on renting a house with a buddy of mine and the carpet in the house smells of urine, previous owner had like 4 dogs and 6 cats. smells bad but it is still tolerable. the renter told us if we paint and steam clean the carpets our first month is free. sounds good to me. but will steam cleaning the carpet with my bissel steam cleaner cause the odor to be quot;bakedquot; into the carpet for ever. or would it be better to buy the stuff you sprinkle on and then just vacum a couple of times?
Pretreat any spots you see ahead of time with a really good cleaner like Folex and then go ahead and steam clean the whole carpet. You may have to do it several times.
Q: where can I find free pattern to weave a rug on a rigid weaving loom?
Are you working on a rug now? As you know, a rigid heddle loom has limitations. You can only do plain weave, and for a rug, this is just fine. If you are using rag strips, that is even better. The patterning will come from the colour of the horizontal stripes you are weaving. You can change them at will, or according to a set pattern. The patterns are only limited to your imagination! I would make a small drawing on paper and then just use coloured pencils or crayons to make horizontal stripes. If you have patterned material to work with, you may not need to make much of a design because the wefts (the cross threads) will make a design of their own. How wide is your rigid heddle? Most are fairly narrow -- perhaps up to 22 wide. Your rug is going to be quite narrow. You may want to piece two of them together side by side, and that offers further possibilities for creating a pattern. Just go wild!! You can do anything you want.
Q: I'm getting hardwood floors in my bedroom and because I have a striped bed quilt, I am looking for a plain colored rug so as to not mix in too many patterns. I am preferably looking for either a pink, turquoise, or lime green rug and not shag. Can you please send me some links!!?? Thanks!
I okorder wish you all the best.
Q: I am trying to find some used carpet for sale or for free to put in my garage any suggestions on where I coulda buy some or find some for free I live in the high desert in California
Go to your local mom and pop carpet store . Not the big box stores. Ask them. They have to dispose of carpet they rip out of homes and bussinesses and have to pay to have it hauled away from their store. I used to give it away like that to save costs. But this is often very dirty carpet so heads up. GL
Q: We bought our house 2 months ago. We didn't mind the carpet. It is very nice carpet. However, the house was built in 1955 and has origional hardwood floors under the carpet. Here is the problem... it looks like there are hardwoods, a new sub floor and the carpet. My concern is that removing the sub floor will ruin the floors under. What has your expirance been?
After having just removed the carpeting in my house, I can tell you this: if they put a subfloor on top of hardwood, there was something wrong with the hardwood. It is not necessary in order to lay carpet. Padding and tack boards are all that are needed--which really don't ruin the hardwood. (You may want to fill a few nail holes from the tack strips.) Lots of houses have hardwood that is only finished around the edges--if you pull up the subfloor and find unfinished board flooring, that's one reason they laid the subfloor. Another reason might be that there was bad damage to the hardwood which made it uneven. A finished hardwood floor rarely needs subfloor for carpeting unless it is damaged or otherwise totally unusable as hardwood flooring. Since your house was built in 1955, it could have very badly damaged floors. There is only one way to check that--pull up the carpet in a corner, and the subfloor under that--and check. If the floors are not damaged, then the only damage will be from nail holes--which can be filled, sanded and revarnished.
Q: It is a shag type rug made with leather strips. I need to know how to vaccum it without tearing it up or blowing up my vaccum cleaner. I have a dog that sheds horribly twice a year and well, this is one them!
Vaccum with out the rollers on. Regular stores like Walmart, Kmart, Meijers, etc will carry a vaccum that only sucks dirt with out roller that will tangle your leather strips. It is really cheap.
Q: Hi I have a mobile and for some reason something was leaking and it caused our hall way carpet and our two bedroom carpet to get wet and now its moldy. Idk where the leak came from. But it's pretty bad. So how do I go about fixing it? Do I pay someone to do it or can me and my family do it. I believe we have taken care of the leak. Now we gotta fix carpet. Thanks.

Q: i have candle wax in my carpet
Take an old dish rag or t shirt that you don't want to use again with an Iron and lay the rag on top of wax and start with low heat on iron run it across till you see the wax go unto the rag......keep doing this until you get all the wax unto the rag...sometimes it might take more than one rag. WORKS EVERYTIME:-) I have a 5year old...i understand!! LOL
Q: I have a large area rug on top of a wall to wall carpet. It has furniture on it but it still keeps wrinkling up. Why? How can I stop this?

Q: I am looking at getting some new carpeting for my home, how much does carpet usually cost? I am guessing they figure it out by square foot and which type of carpet that you want...but just a round about answer, how much is carpet per square foot?
?Are you looking for the material sq ft, for labour, or just for the material?
