- Q: Just wondering how to go about this. I have four table chairs that i would like to re stain. I tried just sanding it but the old varnish clogs the paper really fast. I tried paint stripper but when I go to remove it I always get tiny splashes that some how get onto my skin and burn like a mofo. I'm using gloves but some always gets on my face, not so good. Could I just soak the chairs in water that has a bit of paint stripper?
- Do not soak the chairs in water, it would swell the wood and loosen the glue in the joints. What I suggest is that you get the citrus type of stripper that isn't caustic to your skin. Use the stripper as directed on the container then sand away any remaining marks until your chairs are bare and ready for a new application of finish. I've used the citrus stripper successfully several times. Just allow everything to dry well before you sand again. You'll have to be patient but you'll be pleased with the results. Good luck with your project.

- I don't have much experience in this field myself, but would sabotaging the chair work? I mean, it really depends on how you want the chair to break, but constructing the chair so that it breaks at just the right place with the right amount of pressure should make it convincing enough to the audience. On the other hand, you could get someone who works it Woodshop (if available) to lend you a hand.

- Guessing you just started? Yes it is. Unless you play professionaly, 2nd chair means you won't last. It's alright if it's just for fun *cough cough failure* but in reality, don't waste your time and quot now. 2nd chair is not good.

- Dips are a good tricep exercise that works the pecs a little as well. They are not a bicep exercise. What results are you looking for? If you're a guy and looking for bigger arms, it shouldn't take that long. A couple weeks to notice some improvement in the mirror as long as you're eating and sleeping well. Make sure it's not the only exercise you're doing. Are you a female looking to lose underarm fat? Dips won't help you. Diet will.
