- Q:So i recently got a new engine and tranny for my 1992 honda accord. (engine swap h22a) runs great. but i noticed it makes a loud humming noise after i release my foot off the pedal. This happened i THINK before i got the engine swap too. but that was like 2 years ago so i dont really remember. it was sitting in my driveway for about 2 years. my new mechanic says its the wheel bearings. The engine and tranny r fine and run and shift well but even if im going 30, or 70, when i take my foot off the pedal it goes....huummmmmm, going down. Humming decreasing. He heard it and said the front wheel bearings need to be replaced. What do you think? thanks.
- It may be something more serious like a rotor which if you drive it and it gives out it'll be a bad accident. So try not to drive it to much.
- Q:What are the needle roller bearings with an inner diameter of 14, an outer diameter of 20 and a width of 20?
- Is the needle roller and cage assembly? Or with stamping outer ring needle roller bearings?
- Q:what is the parts number of a 1998 yamaha v-star rear wheel bearings?
- You can pull the bearings and take the numbers off of them or take the (cleaned up) bearings into any bearing retailer and get new ones from your favorite manufacturer. You don't need the part number, you need the bearing number. That number is universal and will get you the correct bearing regardless of manufacturer. Or you can go on over to the V-star forum and look through their archives - search for wheel bearings. I'm sure someone has the bearing numbers for your bike as well as special procedures to make it easier to replace the bearing on your bike. Each wheel set seems to have some special quirks to it.
- Q:Is it important to replace the rear wheel bearings both at the same time (both left and right)? Or is that only done because of convenience (to save the trouble of replacing the other one in the near future)?
- Just the faulty side. Any of the others will clearly tell you when they want to be replaced. The other could go next week or 25k from now. If the fronts did not go first, then are you sure it needs replacing? It should have a tell-tale whrrrrring sound when the wheel is spun off the ground. But the acid test is it gets louder when you swerve (carefully). Louder on a right swerve means left bearing history. Louder on left swerve means right bearing history. 45mph in light traffic Except for odd-ball occurrences, the very first thing a bad bearing should tell you is your car may no longer be worth fixing. That's because all of the other fixes needed at high miles, and soon coming, cost far more than the value of additional miles. Depending on the make (like Subaru) and the use (like gravel truck) there are exceptions to that way of thinking.
- Q:How do I take a front rims bearings so i can put it in another rim? If your wondering what type of rim for the bike its for bmx bikes. Thanks
- You'll need a tool called a slide hammer and the proper associated fittings to remove rim bearings. Personally, I wouldn't reuse bearings that were removed. These are often cheap enough to just purchase new without worry that soon you'll be replacing them soon. Since you're dealing with bicycle bearings, they're going to be pretty cheap. Industrial and vehicle related bearings will cost more. The slide hammer attachement basically grabs the bearing pack from the inside diameter where the shaft would slide through. the attachment is connected to the slide hammer. you hold the rim down and slide the hammer weight towards you or upwards in a fast motion.
- Q:had an oil cleaner run threw motor, this did not do any good.also had replaced oil pump. am at my wits end with this truck !!
- ok so have you considerd the oil rings being worn? you didnt state if you did top end just crank and bearings so my thoughts are, that your top end is tired, you also didnt mention if it smoked at all, that would be an indication of worn rings. Just because you replaced your oil pump doesnt mean that you didnt get a faulty one, get a compression test done and that will let you know if it is rings.
- Q:What skate bearings are better? ABEC 9 ABEC 7, ABEC 5, OR ABEC 3? I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS MEANS
- the higher the abec rating are the faster they spin if they are free of dirt. yet, the higher the rating the tighter the ball bearing are packed and the quicker they become clogged with dirt. REDS are cheap about 15 bucks and out shine most bearings. they are made from powell and they are the red are 15buck and they got 6 ball swiss that can go for over 100 bucks
- Q:What size engine rod bearings do I need for a ford Fusion? I ordered standard which was suggested by the dealership and by the sales people but they are way too big. We have a 2.3 liter engine.
- You rarely replace just the bearings because usually the crank is damaged or worn as well, and the entire crank kit should be installed. You are talking like .0002 clearance there. Well, it's a ford so give or take an inch or so should be like new. Kidding. Almost.
- Q:OK, so i got 91% isopropyl alcohol( i thinks that's rubbing alcohol) and bones speed cream. i just get a gatorade bottle and put the alcohol in it. drop the bearings and shake it around for about 5 minutes. clean them out. here whats i need help for. i have ABEC Lucky 7, do i need to take that little ring around it before i clean them? and i have bones speed cream, it says ts exclusive for bones bearings only. can i use it? zumiez doesn't got any other ones. does Maui nix? and is the stuff i do to clean it good? Long question. askin all skaters and whoever knows how to clean them for cheap.and good.
- Back when i used to skate (about 2 years ago) i would usually take my bearings out and drop it into a mix of 91% alcohol and water. I say maybe 80% alcohol and 20% water into a bottle and shake for awhile. Then take them out, dry and spray some WD40, worked like a charm. I also heard you can drop them in a bottle of HOT water and just leave it in there... i know it works for cleaning out my bongs and bowls, but iono about bearings. If all else fails, try to go down to a local active ride shop and see if they have any sales. :p
- Q:What Deck Trucks and Bearings n shizz would u recccomend for a street skateboader?
- Deck - any brand (as long as its not walmart or others like that) 7.5 - 8 inches wide, 30 - 32 inches long Trucks - any brand that is the same size as your deck Wheels - any brand 49 - 53mm big Bearings - Bones Reds Griptape - any brand Hardware - any brand Shoes - any brand For decks I would recommend Mystery, Flip , or Baker. There are tons more, but these are my favorites. For trucks I have always rode on Ventures, but many people say Independents are the best. For wheels many people ride on Spitfires or Bones Wheels. For bearings ride Bones Reds. Cheap and good. For griptape, it depends. Mob Grip is the grippiest. I usually ride on Jessup grip. All hardware is the same. They all break eventually, just buy some cheap ones. Many people wear smaller shoes for skating because they say it is easier to control the board more. I wear 12's but when I skate I wear 10.5s. I would recommend DVS, Fallens, or Globes.
