- Q: does cold or hot temperatures cause skate bearings or any bearing to spin faster?
- heat will cause the bearings to expand and cause more friction. Colder weather will cause the bearing to shrink and then there will be less friction; however, if it's lubricated, the heat will cause the lubricant to be more fluid and causeing the bearings to move quicker and the cold weather will be the opposite
- Q: I called sports authority to ask for a freewheel/cassette socket and some guy I talked with told me that the bearings are very hard to get to and to not even bother trying to clean and re-grease them. I told him that I have rode hundreds of miles and hear a slight squeak with my back tire so I think I should re-grease it. Also sometimes I get rained on.I don't really buy what he is saying judging from what seems to be common sense and also vids/stuff I have read. Thanks for any info
- a squeak could be 25 different things those bearings are not it and it isn;t your ''tire'' wle
- Q: The noise it is making is a high pitched sound that sounds like a squeaky wheel. Gets worse in 4x4.How do I change the bearings or do I have to take the truck to the shop. I can do most basic repairs and have access to most tools needed. Thanks
- If it was 2wd I would say you could probably do it yourself. However, the locking hub assemblies on 4wd need special tools and are a lot more complex than a standard truck front hub. This is definitely a shop job. Also it may not be the bearings themselves but the front driveaxles may have some problems. Ask a shop to verify exactly what is wrong first. Good luck.
- Q: For a 2005 Ford Mustang GT? Garage telling me mine are bad and are wanting to charge me $2000. They also said my muffler charging valve is acting up as well.
- That price is about right for the spark plug return bearings. While the mechanic has the bearings out and heads off, have him check the piston return springs and re-grout the cylinder walls, its $$ well spent.
- Q: i wasn't to sure how to tell. i didn't think that it mattered but i guess it does. i figured that out when i bought bearings and wheels and they didn't fit inside the wheels. can you please tell me how to tell what kind of bearings i need in this type of situation?
- All legit skateboard wheels have the same size space for bearings - ie they take the same bearings as each other. I think you are experiencing problems because the bearings need to fit very tightly into the wheels so that they don't come out under the huge forces skateboarding exerts So the good news is that you don't need to get anything new. To fit bearings, take one of the wheels off of one of your trucks. Put the bearing down over the axle, put the wheel over the top, and push down HARD (use bodyweight) until it pops into place. Take the wheel off, put the other bearing on the axle, turn the wheel round and repeat so the wheel has 2 bearings on it. It should fit flush into the space. To make sure (or to push it in that bit more) put the wheel on, and tighten the nut on the truck down onto the wheel until the bearings fit snugly. (just don't over-do it or you will wreck the bearings) Alternatively you can buy a tool to push the bearings in, or ask a skate shop to do it for you - but the method above should work easily
- Q: I have a 1990 240sx that has an Sr20det motor. I was driving home one day and about 15 minutes from home my engine started sounding like marbles. When I got home after only 15 minutes of it sounding like that I turned it off and removed the oil pan and there were definitely pieces of rod bearing in it. My question is, after driving for only 15 minutes home, could it have more damage than just the bearings?
- I agree with mike. A lot of the time a motor is just like a row of dominos. not the pizza lol once one thing goes the rest will always seem to follow.
- Q: A friend who's basically tutoring me in cars and their different parts told me that as my first assignment I was to find out what exhaust bearings were and what they did. Can anyone help me out?
- the only sort of bearings I can think of that would be part of the exhaust would be in a car with a turbocharger.
- Q: How does it keep from flowing into the turbine itself?
- Lubricant is fed to the bearings. What's the problem?
- Q: Hi, I have a problem with replacing the bearings on my bike, the ones I took out weren't tapered, and all the ones I have found on the internet are tapered. Was just wondering if anyone knows of any good parts websites that would probably sell old style bearings. Thanks, Kim :)
- The reason for this is that EVERYBODY replaces old ball and race bearings with tapered bearings, even on my antiques, as they are far superior, last longer, and require little or no maintenance.
- Q: What are some fast skateboard bearings bearings?
- If you can spend a lot of money, bones swiss ceramics are the best bearings out there, but run around $120-160. Any bearings that cost around $20 or more are fast, but brand-wise the highest quality are bones. By standards, bones reds are the highest quality for the price. Almost every skater uses bones reds. They cost $20 and are better than flip, panther, and other bearings at the same price. They are quite a lot faster, and a lot more durable as well.
