Q:do 98 ford windstars have front wheel bearings?
yes... but not like older cars.. front wheel drives they are part of the axle... you have to pull the axle and have them removed just about as easy to replace the axle
Q:ok, the vegetable oil part was dumb....but i heard u can soak them in alcohol...but how do i re-grease them?
let okorder / ... and if you ever need tip tricks or a tip trick video you can message him...
Q:Wipeout/laid down my bike 2000 miles ago. Yesterday, I checked my crank, a little lose so I tightened it up. Awhile later a kind of light click clunk sound/feel when the right crank is a the 3 o'clock position. Even before every once in awhile down stairs there's a noise at no real position that sounds like my crank hitting the kick stand, but I have no kickstand. Is it the bearings or race going bad. I've had the similar click clunk sound on other bikes but never any other problems. Also, how long before it goes out, planning on a long trip in a month or 2?
EDIT: okorder /. or something close to it. The bike apparently has a Suntour XCE crank- their entry level model. Looking closer at the specs it has a VERY entry level bottom bracket which may or may not be rebuildable. If it IS rebuildable then it is conceivable that you could take the mess apart and rebuild it with new bearings and such as long as the bearing surfaces are not damaged. In any case it would be a good idea to get a better, sealed bottom bracket. If it is NOT rebuildable (prying apart a sealed unit doesn't count as rebuildable) then it will require replacement. Get a decent one (not the cheapest thing) and it will last a looooong time, something like a Shimano BB-UN55 or UN73. Make sure the spindle length is the same as the old one. You will also likely need a bottom bracket removal tool. To save time and grief, just take the bike (or just the bottom bracket if you know how to take it out) to a shop and have them match it up. No sweat. One more thing... with the mileage you have on that bike it is long past due for hub and headset overhaul. In addition, the chain stretch and freewheel should be checked for wear as well. Time to pay the piper.
Q:I'm buying this old classic 1983 yz125 for like 200 bucks. The guy said it needs a piston and bottom end bearings. I'm just a little confused on what bottom end bearings are. Like crankshaft bearings? Also if you know where I can find parts for an 83 that would also help to lol.
Ebay is the place to look for parts I have seen several complete crank set ups with rod and main bearings for $100 or less but be sure to Write the seller through Ebay and ask if he will guaranty it to be within factory specs and in usable shape if he replies with a yes then Ebay will force that he stand behind his word so it will be a safe purchase oh and don't forget to replace the Crank Seals also Note most shops will charge you $100 or more just to split down a crank and lots of them are not very good at it! It is a very tricky job and very few of the guys out there doing it actually know what they are doing well enough to truly do it right!
Q:I need to order bearings for the neck of the frame on my bike. I do not know what that piece is called or what i would look for as far as bearings go. Thank you
Neck okorder /
Q:No stupid answers please. Im an ASE master mechanic and I'm looking to hear from experienced off roaders. I'm new to offroading. I'm driving an F250 460 Bigblock 4x4. I know my u joints breaking are normal but am I to expect the same from my tie rods and front manual locking hub wheel bearings once a month if not once a week (I stay up on my alignments). I just bounced my truck three times straight sideways (that's when I really felt the wheel bearings and tie rods go out) so I know I'm very abusive but they are...well were brand new. Is there something I should do as far as suspension or aftermarket parts. I've been doing my homework but any suggestions would help. Rear axle is 30 years old and still kicking major *!*, front end not so much. I do a lot of jumping and climbing. Any suggestions would help. I have an IFS dana 44 front axle. I don't really think of a center pivot axle as IFS and I always thought it looked crappy for offroading. Could it be I need a solid axle?
no you should not be breaking wheel bearings and tie rods every couple weeks. I have done plenty of off-roading and have never busted a wheel bearing from it. unless you are jumping the truck several feet in the air and turning the steering wheel before it lands. You should not have this problem at all. either you are getting bad parts or they are being installed improperly. And as far as the IFS not being good enough I would not worry about that. The twin I-beam suspension is at least 1 of the best suspensions that you can get for off-roading (especially jumping) EDIT Yes you can beef up the tie rod ends but There is not a way to do the same for the wheel bearings that I know of. Basically if you want to treat the truck like that then you should expect to have to repair it daily. Also if the truck has independent front suspension then it does not have front leaf springs. I would think that a ASE certified mechanic could tell the difference between the 2 but I may be wrong
Q:if not can you tell me what are some good ones
If you are talking about roller skate bearings I absolutely love my bones bearings. All of their bearings are great! Kind of pricey but well worth it if you can take care of them. Also Sure-Grip ones are great. I like to go with either 7 or 9 ball bearings in them.
Q:I own a pair of Mission Axiom A.3 roller hockey blades and it says on their website that all the wheels are MISSION CSX indoor/outdoor 78A but when i look at the wheels on the skates, they say they are all different sizes, unfortunately i am not at home so i can not tell you which sizes they are.The mission website also says that the bearings are MISSION ABEC 5 but i don't see any websites that sell those bearings so what other kind is the best and fastest kinds of bearings to buy?I just started getting into roller blading/roller hockey im not really playing roller hockey but i go skating a lot and like to go really fast so i don't really know a whole lot about skates but would like to learn what kind of wheels/bearings i should buy, thanks for any help.
ABEC okorder staff are quite knowlegable.
Q:i'm to cheap for Labrynth or ceramic.
I got some bearings with my last complete that were in a red package, they were Bones but I can't remember what kind...like mini bones or something. I am such a cheap a$$ anyway but they worked a lot better than I expected. The last set of bearings I bought were Black Panthers before I joined the Navy. That was almost 7 years ago. Moral of the story, being cheap isn't always a bad thing.
Q:what are some good trucks for my skateboard? and what are a good brand of wheels and bearings for my skateboard too?~Thanks~
bearings-bones reds, fast and they last a long time too trucks- i usually buy ventures but they're pretty heavy for the wheels, ricta, and find a wheel size thats perfect for you i always buy 53's
