- Q: which skateboard bearings are the best?under the conditions of durability and overall performance, which ones have you used that you think are the best?
- REDS really fast and long lasting
- Q: My sister is very much into longboarding and has 4 boards, when I asked why one of them has no wheels she told me it was because she had no bearings and she needed new ones. So I want to get her some for Christmas. My question is what are bearings? Is it one size fit all, and what are the major differences if any? Also are there any department stores that may sell them?
- So if you look at any of her other boards you will see in the wheels there is a metal ring that is a bearing. A bearing allows the wheels to spin. One size fits all and differences are the rating also you need 8 bearings for 4 wheels -Ratings are like ABEC, ABEC 7 bearings are more popular. I recommend 7 lower numbers are slower and I hear bad things about anything higher, although Bones Bearings(a brand) has no scale ,but trust me these are some of the best bearings you will find, I ride them and many people as well ride them. Any skate shop would sell them. Probably not department stores. I recommend Bones Reds About $18 Bones Super Reds About $25 And any lucky ABEC7 Bearings Although I HIGHLY recommend the bones reds or super reds! Another thing you could get is bearing lube..it speeds them up
- Q: can you use these bearing interchangable?
- N design Inside track with two unitary flanges, while outside track without flange. Axes's axial displacement to bearing block can be endured by bearing from two directions. Therefore, these bearings usually used as non position end bearings. NU design The outside track of NU design bearings has two unitary flanges, while inside track without flange. Axis's axial displacement to bearing block can be duded by bearing from two directions. Therefore, these bearings usually used as non position end bearings. Due to the reason of manufacture and maintenance, two flanges of outside track of NU design big bearings showed on drawing maybe not unitary, but with loose fit-up flange rings. NJ design Outside track has two unitary flanges, inside track also with one unitary flange. Therefore, these bearings suitable for the axial orientation of axes from one direction. Since their design and usage are for different purposes I would say no they are not interchangeable.
- Q: Well, I was wondering: do all skateboard bearings have 2 sides? I looked at abec 7 or 8 bearings and they do not seem to have 2 sides? How do I know which side should i grease? Also, does abec bearings have a metal/rubber covering on one side? Thanks, if you can answer all these questions, i will give you best answer. Don't say, Get bone swiss bearings! They're better! I know they are, but I'm asking about abec 7 bearings. Thanks.
- By sides, I assume that you mean the shields that are there to block dirt from getting in. Only one shield is needed. Some makers include both and some only one. (This applies to ABEC 7 or any other bearing) The one on the wheel side is not needed since no dirt can get in there except through the other side. You don't grease the shields. There is only one set of balls in the bearing and greasing from either side will do the same thing. ABEC ratings are meaningless for skate boards or inline skates. The ratings are for vibration and accuracy in high speed industrial machines. You can get ABEC 7 bearings that are garbage or non-rated (Bones, TwinCam, and ZeroDrag all make non-ABEC bearings as their top models) bearings that are extremely good.
- Q: I just bought the sector 9 bambino 26.5 and I was wondering what would be better for it. Im trying to decide between the bones swiss labyrinth would bones super swiss 6. What would be better for my board-thanks.
- I think the bones swiss labyrinth, but man also check out Sector 9 Greaseball Bearings, they are so so so sick. Either way enjoy man.
- Q: I work with publix supermarkets. my manager is being a stickler all of a sudden about not stashing floats in the freezer eben u go on break because it ruins the bearings .. I dont know if thats the actual name of the carts that we use.. They are for our stock and have a center wheel set for pivoting. Can anyone confirm if it is bad? if not, where is a source I can shove in my bosses face
- Yep - bad news for the bearings. The wheel bearings in those things are unsealed ball bearings and are susceptible to getting water inside. Freezing makes the water crystallize and when it melts the dispersed water is changed to droplets that rust the balls and races. Bicycle wheels have the same problem. The carts belong to the store and the manager is responsible for seeing they are treated properly. As an employee your job is to treat them the way the manager says. If he says pour acid on them, pour acid on them.
- Q: Hello, in my car hit another car from side to side, so damaged by right front wheel. The wheel was bent/cracked. Other than that it drove straight.Insurance is fixing the body work. After inspecting the car, they said the steering knuckle was loose/damaged.Is it possible for just a steering knuckle to get damaged, and not have to replace the wheel hub assemble/wheel bearings?
- Bent Wheel Hub
- Q: It's an 81 ford mustang 2.3L everytime we run it. It melts the cam bearings. HELP
- Lack of lubrication would be a good place to start. Personally I would junk the 4 cyl. and drop in a 5.0(302).More power and performance = more speed and fun!!
- Q: All bearings are designed with tolerances to allow the moving parts to move, but how are wear limits determined? In other words, after time, the components will start to wear out and the bearing will become looser. Looking at some aircraft maintencance manuals, they provide wear limits in the radial and axial directions. But how are these wear limitis determined? Is there a particular calculation that is done or is an arbitruary number chosen?
- General ideas only. In the case of journal bearings with forced lubrication (oil pressure), increasing clearance results in oil pressure drop. Ideally, journal bearings hold an oil film which supports the rotating shaft and minimizes metal/metal contact. Automobile engines run for hundreds of thousands of miles using this strategy. Radial ball bearings will tolerate excess clearance (depending on the load) but the shafts they support often will not. In cases where oil seals are used, excess shaft play damages seals and permits leaking. In the case of motor or pump shafts, bearing slack permits rotor/stator contact or impeller/involute contact. Rotating masses are never perfectly balanced or axially aligned. Bearing slack multiplies unbalanced force and consequent load.
- Q: I am going to purchase some on amazon. What is the difference between the two? Please explain in detail.
- I thought you were talking about ball bearing hinges. I think I am incorrect though. If so electric ball bearing hinges are much more.
