Q: Over the weekend I put a reddish packet down on my NEW, WHITE bathroom sink. When I went to pick the packet up I saw it had left a PINK STAIN about the size of a half dollar on my new sink (I *think* the sink is porcelain but I'm not positive. It is *not* marble or any other stone. It is - I believe - basic bathroom sink material). Anyway, I used some Comet bathroom cleaner. Did nothing. I then tried bleach (big mistake! I think it actually now gave the stain a yellowish hue). I have not tried anything else.If you have any advice, I'd appreciate it.Thank you!: You can remove the stains by pouring some bleach on the stain area and wiping it with water. It for me hair dye was on the sink and remove like nothing.

Q: my old sink had a over flow hole in it and the new sink does not.can i still use the same drain pipe or is there a different type that i need to get?: Assuming you mean the pop up drain (chrome), I suggest you dry fit the old one into the new sink. Often, the pop ups for internal overflow sinks have a large opening allowing water from the overflow into them. It may not seal on the new sink depending on the thickness of the new sink. If it doesn't seal, not the end of the world. Visit a good local plumbing supply store and ask for a pop up drain for a sink with no overflow.

Q: how do you install bathroom sink faucets?: Take the old one out, then put the new one in.

Q: what is the best drain cleaner for the bathroom sink?: The best thing I've used so far that actually worked was something called CCLS which is a septic tank additive consisting of concentrated enzymes. This stuff is rather expensive, about $135 for a case of 4 gallons, but since I already use this to add to my septic tank I thought I'd try it in my bathroom sink drain, since on the bottle it says good for drains, too. I've had the bathroom sink drain snaked out once but it clogged back up again in about 6 months. I figured the snake only punched a pencil-sized tunnel down through the clogged pipe, so snaking it out again did not make any sense at all. It cost $110 to get the pipe snaked, and I was not about to waste more money like that so I tried the CCLS. I poured a few ounces down the drain overnight after warning the pipe first with hot water. This was a situation where the sink would fill up with water and take a half hour to empty. After several treatments it became noticeably improved. Now I always add the CCLS to the septic by way of the sink drain, and it's been free flowing ever since, over a year.

Q: I have hot water everywhere else in the house the master bathroom has two sink and both of them have cold water but when I turn to the hot water nothing happens in either..the bathroom is upstairs over the hot weather heater and the temps here have been 2 below o, not sure if that matters..thanks!: If it's that cold there, I suppose it's possible that the hot line may have froze up. The problem is either in the line or in the faucet. Is the faucet a 2 handle? If so, you could try disassembling the hot stem to inspect it, after shutting the water off down below of course. You could remove the hot supply line and run water into a bucket to see if the problem is in the line or the faucet.

Q: I have a new vanity and the last few weeks when i run the water a terrible smell comes from the sink opening after a few minutes it goes away. Any ideas -THANKS.: the only thing i can think of is that maybe the toilet is sucking the water out of the sink s j trap pipe. look under the sink and you'll see what i'm speaking of. that trap pipe is supposed to always have water in the curve of the pipe so the SEWER PIPE AIR cant make it past that trap. now i've never heard of that happening, but it's the only thing i can think of that will cause that problem.
