Q: For the past 6 months or so, my cat has been peeing and pooping on my throw rug (which, just so you know, was an expensive rug from Crate Barrel which I love). My rug is stained from cat pee, and I just had it cleaned deodorized this past weekend in the hopes that she would stop using it as a litter box. I used to think that she did it out of spite, but I can't figure out why she'd be mad at me or my live-in boyfriend (who she belongs to, but we've been living together for about a year and dating for a year and a half, so she knows me well and is very loving towards me). I don't know how to get her to stop using my rug as a toilet. Any suggestions? And, putting her to sleep is not a suggestion. We love her. But, if she doesn't stop pooping and peeing on my rug I don't know what II'll do!: i saw this on a show, where a cat kept messing on a bathroom mat. not sure it'll work for you but the vet guy recommended moving the litter tray to where the cat does it, and leave the throw rug next to it, maybe hanging off the couch or whatever, so he can't mess on it but it's next to the litter tray. slowly move the tray and rug back towards where you keep your litter tray, or outside, whatever, just a bit a day. use praise and treats when he/she uses the tray and not the rug. eventually the cat should start to use the tray and not your rug. I can be an insecurity thing I think, it happened to the cat on the show when the owner went into hospital and it was left with the husband.

Q: I have tried rug cleaning sprays and powders and vacummed it many times. I don't know what else to do and don't want to replace my rug!: White vinegar--it relatively is a large deodorizer, even on puppy urine. Plus it relatively is low-fee, organic, and works as a cloth softener,so it leaves the carpet delicate. It would not pass away a residue as many detergents and soaps do, meaning it won't entice dirt interior the destiny. The vinegar scent dissipates because it dries.

Q: I do not want to get a cheap carpet. Is $30 a sq yard above average or expensive?: I think average is about $15 to $20 per sq yd. I did pay a little more for the carpeting upstairs than I did downstairs, because I knew I'd replace the downstairs carpet sooner. I picked out a $25/sq yd carpet for upstairs, and I thought that was expensive. I think $30 is WAY too expensive.

Q: I am thinking of buying a carpet shampooer. We just bought a house that has a lot of carpet. Is it smarter to buy a shapooer or keep having someone come in and do it for us? And if a shampooer is ideal which is the best brand?: Bissell Steam Pro....the best!!! Be sure to read all directions.

Q: I'll need to get about 1200 sq. ft. of carpet. I'm not planning on getting the cheapest, but close to it. How much will the carpet cost? installation?: Carpet, pad ( to cover warranties) and labor for a low, mid range priced carpet will go fo 3$ a s/f ( + - depending on quality) So your looking at 3600$ at least. Q: I'm thinking a dark purpley magenta... or perhaps a shaggy brown rug might suit. Ideas?: I personally would go with a burgundy color..like a red wine...Never go with light beige colors, they are very hard to clean unless you clean them right away. Our home has fitted carpets and all of them beige, and one can see every little blemish. I like burgundy. I think it won't clash and it looks elegant...I think a shaggy brown rug will not do the blue justice and yes, if you are young and daring and for bold extremes, then I think a purply magenta could work. That will be a bold color scheme but it can work. Also make sure, that you either redecorate your walls or the rug and the blue cream sofa should somehow be in harmony with the color on the wall ..otherwise if you have too many different colors, (meaning the wall has a yellow paint, and the rug is purply magenta and the the sofa is blue cream, then I find that too much of a contrast..so check the walls and if they are white, I would paint them and maybe give them a nice color that could be a blue...Blue is very relaxing and a restful color and it depends in which room this sofa stands. A cream colored wall would also go with a blue cream sofa and a burgundy carpet...I would not get the cheapest rug. Look for a bargain but get something nice..but not too expensive. Look around in in antique shops for bargains..Maybe they have something suitable that is not too expensive..x

Q: Hello, I need to buy a big, squared burgundy rug (or in any dark red for that matter).I want to cover a room thats 16.6 x16.6 ft It would be fine if doesnt to cover the whole room, Im just looking for possibilities. Q: I am currently in the process of switching apartments need some quick/cheap ways to remove old and hard as heck to remove stains from my carpet, so that the management won't make me pay for the stains!!!xtra info- the carpet is older , it's your basic cheap carpet and is beige/cream in color!!!Any ideas/solutions will be greatly appreciated, just remember I want the cheapest, most effective quickest ways to remove stains from older carpet!!!: Try Resolve spot carpet cleaner. It may clean too well and make the rest of the rug look dingy. You can also rent a steam cleaner and their chemicals fairly cheaply at super markets or places like Home Depot for less than $100. You can have it professionally cleaned for something like $150-200 for up to 450 sq. ft.
