- It depends on what type of carpet that you choose (the quality) and also the area you live in. You can except for a good quality carpet to pay roughly $2-5 a square foot. Installation, you're looking probably $675 for the whole thing, and about another $300 or so for pad. Generally if there's carpet down there already, the installers will re-use the tack strip in place. It depends on the company that you are going through if their prices on the carpet include pad and installation. The place I work at, for example, the prices listed on carpet are material only. - I would start with heavily applying Nature's Miracle to the area, work the carpet fibers with a rag, and leave it to sit. You want to saturate the carpet fiber, but you do not want to soak the area so much that it gets down to the pad. Wet pad can cause odors, mold, and mildew. The Hoover carpet cleaner is no harder to use than a vacuum cleaner. Fill the solution reservoir with cleaning solution and work the area to be cleaned. Usually, you squeeze the solution application trigger on the push stroke, which applies the solution and works it into the carpet fiber. Release the trigger and draw the machine back and it will suck up the spent solution. Make several dry passes with the machine to suck up as much moisture as possible. Follow that up by rinsing with clean, clear, hot water once or twice, again do not over wet the carpet and make several dry passes until you can't suck up any more water. Let the carpet completely dry and repeat the rinse cycle if the previous rinses were overly dirty or still produced carpet cleaner foam in the rinse water. I've found Rug Doctor cleaning products to be the best available. You can enhance any cleaning solution's ability with the use of Oxy Clean crystals. Oxy Clean can also be used as a pre-treatment spray to loosen dirt and grime from carpet fibers before the cleaning process begins.
- Q: I have carpet in my kitchen (awful). I decided to change the oil in my deep fryer and just put a couple of grocery bags together and poured in in there. I mistakenly put the used oil in my regular trash bag. When the bag was almost full I pulled it out and set it on the floor to continue stuffing it. - Before you use the dawn, try this: take lots of paper towels, newspapers, etc. and put them down, then apply a hot iron, this will absorb a lot of the oil. Keep doing it until there is no tangible oil. Then take Dawn. Pour it right on, let it set and then scrub scrub scrub. If you have a wet vac, vacuum up the water so the carpet and pads don't get moldy. If you don't, try to borrow or rent one. Good luck.
- Q: We have our carpet cleaned once a year and after 6 months all the stains are back. A carpet cleaner told me if it was cleaned properly the stains wouldn't return. My carpet is a type of berber, but not the good berber. I have always used steam cleaning. My question is would a chem clean be better. Another carpet place told me probably the stains were down in the pad. Is there a cleaning that would go deep into the pad otherwise I am faced with getting 1200 yards of new carpet. You imput would be greatly appreciated.
- my husband lays flooring and just said that once it hits the pad, there's no return. sorry but you are faced with new carpet. good news is, if you live around ga....he may be able to help you out. lol. j/k......try the car cleaning stuff called purple power. i used to detail cars and we used that on the carpet and always has clean brand new looking results. it will no fade or dicolor your carpet either. just go to auto zone and gets some. it' worth a try.
- Q: how or what can i use to get the sticky residue off carpet ? previous owners put vinyl tile over carpet which was stupid does anyone know what i can use to get the sticky residue off carpet?? i have goo gone not sure if it would work does anyone know what would work.. that wouldnt take alot to get it off carpet.. seems to be those self adhesive tiles that are on top of carpet.. i'm lifting tiles off but the residue is on carpet making you stick kinda to carpet.. - Is it a female or a male cat? There are lots of variables in why a cat will do this. Sometimes it's because the litterbox is objectionable in some way - either the location, the cleanliness of it, the litter, etc. Quite often when a cat goes somewhere besides the litterbox, it's because it is either unhappy about something, or is ill. Urinary tract infections occur often and cats will begin to go somewhere that will draw your attention to it. Perhaps he/she is sick? My male cat started doing the same thing to the throw rug I kept in front of the door. Eventually, we discovered he had a bladder problem which made it difficult for him to go at all. Once the problem had cleared up (he had to have surgery), he started using the box again. As for the smell, it is hard to get rid of. You can get a rug treatment and apply it, or take up the rug/get rid of it. If the cat is going on the rug because something is wrong, it will probably happen somewhere else until the problem is solved.
- Q: Im trying to find ways to make money for a low cost. I live in and area where there is around 5 other carpet cleaning businesses. Basically I need to pay for gas, car insurance+phone =$70 and I don't know how much being licensed and insured for the business would be. - Well, I don't have a carpet cleaning business, but my dad has his own business, I manage the office at a business, and I am studying business. Carpet cleaning services is a competitive business. While you have competition, you must provide better quality work at cheaper/same costs. Licensing/insurance for the business may go off of the amount of profits you obtain. It may (equal) about another $70 a month (give or take a little). I think carpet cleaning would be a great business to get into! Most households/businesses have carpet that needs cleaned. You'll encounter customers that can't clean their carpets or just don't want to; thus, they'll hire someone to do it. I would take into account that you may encounter some nasty scenarios: i.e. flea-infested carpets, carpets with feces/urine, or other dirty circumstances. If they wouldn't bother you, go for it!
