- Q: I recently blacked out and fell onto the floor face first, causing some moderate rug burns. I'm wondering if I should be concerned about scarring, and if so what I should do to prevent it. I've been keeping a coat of neosporin on it constantly so far.
- Regarding the rug burn, it does not look like a very deep wound from the picture. Most scrapes are shallow but painful because a large area of skin is missing. Shallow wounds do not usually scar. My brother went headfirst over the handlebars of his bike about 6 weeks ago and had some really nasty scrapes, some of which were moderately deep, and he didn't scar at all. Just keep it clean, wash it daily with soap and warm water. Keep using the neosporin as well. That will prevent infection and keep it moisturized; both of those things will help speed up healing, and the faster things heal the less likely they are to scar. Once it's all healed there will be some residual redness in the area for probably 3-7 days, but that isn't scarring and it should go away. Regarding you passing out, I would advise a doctor's visit. Getting light headed when standing is called orthostatic hypotension and it has a number of possible causes; some of them are fairly serious, such as a heart problem. Your orthostatic hypotension, plus now an unrelated episode of fainting indicates some sort of underlying problem. Better to go and get checked, just to be safe.
- Q: is it easier to vacuum the industrial carpet than regular carpet. I plan to replace my regular carpet with industrail, because it is hard to push the vacuum and we have lots of dust. thanks.
- I had industrial carpet (white) in my home and loved it. It was very thick and plush and cleaning was no problem and vacuuming was very easy. I would definitely recommend it. But the best is hardwood floors. Industrial carpeting is expensive and I can get bamboo (50 year guarantee) for $2.12 a square foot at Costco. Bamboo is a sustainable resource, also. I love it and I have six animals in the house.
- Q: How long should a carpet be changed and washed? How to do if there are lice on carpet?
- It would be better to wash it half a year. You can use the vacuum cleaner to wash off the dust at usual. If the carpet is stained, you can sprinkle large grain of salt on the stains, then stains can fade away.
- Q: What is the carpet trace made of?
- there are a variety of carpet materials, generally are polypropylene fiber, acrylic fibers, nylon wool and blending .
- Q: So I have this big area rug in the middle of my living room and it keeps rolling up and sliding around how do I make it stay in one place. Nothing permanent because I rent. And its on carpet.
- There is a special rubbery ( but its not) type of mesh/woven etc under layment that you put under a rug to stop it from scooting. Comes in many sizes so know your rug size and it can be cut to fit using scissors. Get the type for rug over carpet. Leaves no residue ( like double sided tape can). Washable , so when it loses its tackiness you toss it in to be washed and its as good as new. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
- Q: Hey everyone I just found ONE carpet beetle larvae under my sheets! Do you think that there are more? How do I get rid of them? Thanks!

- Q: How to do fireproofing treatment to carpet
- Watering. =_=
- Q: I am concerned that using the commonly available tapes will damage the underlying carpet. Specifically, if I used carpet tape to attach my rugs to my carpet, if I decide to remove the rugs and tape will my under carpet not be damaged? I appreciate any ideas. Thanks!
- Hi, There is rug padding available that goes under your area rug to keep it in place. They can be reversible for carpets or bare floors. Make sure that you buy a quality one that is not going to stain your carpet underneath. They help keep your rug in place and make it easier to vacuum. I would talk to a store that sells area rugs and I've seen them for sale on line. My mom had a cheap rubber one and it soon started falling apart and she was forever vacuuming up the pieces of it. Your underlay is usually 2 less than the size of your rug so that it does not show. Hope this helps.
- Q: In new construction, with concrete floors.I am putting in bifold closet doors which have a track on both the top and bottom of the door.Should I wait until the carpet is in to put the track on the floor, or should I put it in and let the carpet installer carpet up to both sides of the track? Thanks.
- Let them lay the carpet, and then screw your tracking down.
- Q: I have not always found snug bugs in my rugs......so I am taking a poll here today to see if this saying could have some real validity to it. Do YOUR rugs have snug bugs? If so, how many snug bugs can you count in your rugs? And lastly, why on earth do we tolerate snug bugs in our rugs? What think you?
- Its amazing whats in our rugs-blankets and so on that we cannot see with the human eye! I watched a show once on that and WOW and EWWWWWW some of the things u couldnt see with bare eyes but was there under a microscope! Just nasty! Even on our makeup blush brush! It was showing all kinds of nasties on them too! So I try to be extra careful especially with blankets and such but Im sure there is probably one or two somethings that I just dont want to know about! lol
