- Q: I need the wiring codes for a factory radio to install a new one.
- 1993 Toyota Paseo
- Q: OK - I removed my old light switch and can see that there are only 2 wires coming out of the wall to be found - 1 white and 1 black. There are absolutely no other wires that I can see back there. The dimmer switch has 2 black wires and 1 green. I'm really not sure what to do. I tried to connect the 2 black ones to the black one and the green wire to the white wire. I admit this wasn't the smartest thing, but thought I'd try. Got nothing. Any help is super appreciated.
- If you don't know the basic rule of matching up the colors when wiring something, you may want to avoid doing anymore wiring projects in the future, for your own safety and to keep from destroying your stuff. First of all, turn off the power at the breaker or remove the fuse for that switch. Then: Black to Black, White to White, you can just let the green wire hang or, if you have a metal box, attach it to that. (that's your ground wire, no power goes thru it when things are working properly). Sometimes in older houses (or ones where amatures did the wiring the first time) the colors might not be correctly assigned (usually, black is hot and white is neutral) if your light only flips off and on instead of dimming like it should when you try it, you will have to switch the wires so that it is black to white and white to black (You probably won't need to do that though). Use wire nuts to connect the wires together, not just electrical tape. Good luck and be safe!
- Q: How do I wire an outlet that has two black and to white wires. It this case the white being the HOT wires?? Don't know why all the white wires in my house are HOT.. And the black are nuetral???
- If as you say white are (hot) .This situation it's called reverse wiring and has violation .In the main control box check the weirs if white is connect to the neutral terminal (a plate with lot of screws) and black is exit from breakers ,your wiring is correct and may one place in circuit branch by mistake neutral is connect to the hot and hot to neutral (ammature work).
- Q: but it says there are three Pink wires. There's not even three pink wires coming out of the car.The chassis/clip has been removed (by previous owner) and all that is left is the wires. All that is needed is a list of the colors and what they go to. Thanks.

- Q: I am replacing an old outlet with a GFCI and I have encountered a red wire...what is the red wire for?
- It sounds like that receptacle was half switched. Receptacles are designed to have the small brass tab on the black side snap off and one half is constantly alive (black wire)and the other side is connected to a wall switch (red wire). Is this in a room with no ceiling light? Switched outlets are usually for a lamp to turn on as you enter the room. GFCI outlets are not designed to be switched on and off as both sides will go off. Is this room in a basement, kitchen, bathroom or near water pipes? You may not be required to have it GFCI protected. If you can and want a GFCI then try another outlet near by.
- Q: I've started cutting wire and bending it into shapes to create animals or images, but the problem is, I need to know how to make each piece stick together without any glues as they make the art dulled and the metal looses its shine :/ any suggestions?
- okorder and search on 'twisted wire sculptures' then click on images or switch to Web to find how to.
- Q: Not the wire from RadioShack, but the really thin stuff used in modded circuit boards, logic circuits, low power circuits, etc.
- Most low-voltage hookup wire is 24 gauge. You may be talking about what is called wire-wrap wire, which is used in some electronic prototyping projects. Wire wrap wire is 32 gauge Kynar insulated wire. (The larger the gauge number, the smaller the wire.) Radio Shack carries 24 gauge in larger spools of one color and in little sets of mixed colors. They also carry wire-wrap wire. So you can get it there. Just ask the sales person for help. If that doesn't work for you, there are a number of on-line sources. Just run an internet search on hook-up wire or wire-wrap wire. That will bring up lots of on-line suppliers that will provide you all sorts of small-gauge wire.
- Q: I need help hooking a remote wire to my jvc kd-g220.
- Chances are, that the radio has a blue wire, and a blue wire with a white stripe. One will be marked for antenna, use the other for remote, or use ignition from the fuse box. Just dont forget to fuse this if you go that route.
- Q: True or False?Branch wiring from a 200A - 3 phase 4 wire panelboard.WIRE #PHASES 1 --- PHASE A 2 --- PHASE B 3 --- PHASE C 4 --- NEUTRAL - WHITE WIRE 5 --- PHASE A 6 --- PHASE B 7 --- PHASE C 8 --- NEUTRAL 9 --- GROUNDTOTAL OF 9 WIRES GOING TO SIX (6) 20A 120V CIRCUITS
- False! If you had 6 120v circuits each circuit has 1 phase, 1 neutral conductor and 1 ground conductor for a total of 3 wires per circuit. 6 circuits times 3 conductors equals 18 wires. You don't use the same neutral conductor for different phases but you can if they are the same phase provided you don't go over the maximum allowed current rating for that wire and insulation.
- Q: i bought a programable thermostat that says it needs a c wire to be able to use the remote...i dont have one of these wires on my old thermastat but im kinda understanding the c wire was just to power a clock on certan thermostats is there a way to rig a c wire to power what i need???
- The C is the 24 volt common. You will need an extra wire in the bundle from the stat to the furnace. You should have a C terminal in the furnace on the terminal strip. Look on the circuit board on the furnace low voltage board. If you have the extra wire, hook it up on both ends.
