- Q: How do I wire an outlet that has two black and to white wires. It this case the white being the HOT wires?? Don't know why all the white wires in my house are HOT.. And the black are nuetral???
- i am an electrician and i cant believe that the white wire is hot. i would double check it to make sure. use a volt meter.take the negative probe and touch the box if it is a metal box. if romex cable was used just touch the bare ground wire. touch the white and black wires one at a time with the positive probe to see wich is hot. every outlet has 4 sdrew terminals 2 brass and 2 silver. the hot wire always gets hooked to the brass terminals. i would check the circuit breaker box to see how the wires are hooked up. the black wires should be hooked up to the circuit breakers the white wires should be hooked up to the nuetral bar. if not you're house was wired backwards.
- Q: In that chart it has 2 sections, one is maximum amps for chassis wiring and the other is maximum amps for power transmission. What is considered chassis wiring and what is considered power transmission?
- Chassis Wiring
- Q: why is neutral wire.explain plz
- Any electrical circuit must have at least 2 wires for household service. These can be a hot leg and a neutral, or they can be two hot leads. This is typical for a split-phase 240/120 volt service. The neutral wire is the center tap of the transformer winding supplying the split-phase service. The neutral connection point at the transformer is the center tap of the transformer winding. The household system will carry as much of the total load in the 240 volt wires as possible, limited by the actual configuration of the wiring. And the only current carried in the neutral from your circuit breaker panel to the transformer is the unbalanced portion of the total load. The neutral wire in individual circuits from the circuit breaker panel always carries the same current as does the hot leg wire. The neutral is needed for single circuit runs from the circuit breaker panel to the loads. If you have a perfectly balanced load on both hot legs, you would not need a neutral from the circuit breaker panel to the transformer winding. But perfectly balanced conditions are seldom seen in the average home.
- Q: Where is itI have a 1996 Honda Accord with a pioneer deh-p6400 head unit. I tried to install an amp. Held the ground to soem metal and tried to get it to turn on. I tried the power antennae wire and it didnt' work. Nothing seems to work. I dont want to splice any wires or anything
- hes right....all u have to do is continue the blue/white wire to the remote spot of the amp.
- Q: I had my uncle-in-law hook up my American Bass Pro 800 Watt Amp but he used cheap wiring. The wire is fairly small and he told me it doesnt matter how big the wire is. But what i wanna know is, Is the wire giving the amp enough power or does American Bass Pro Amps suck?? Help please
- Okay, well the higher the watts the amp pulls the large cable you will need. My system pulls 500 watts (RMS) (1000 peak) and when i had it installed they ran 4 gauge wire from the battery to the amp, then used a separation block (4 gauge input and four 8 gauge outputs) to knock down the 4 gauge to 8 so it could connect to the amp. Usually the gauge wire that is the input size for the amp would be the wire you would want to run from the battery to the amp, unless you are running multiple amps. basically larger the amp=larger the wire needed hope this helps
- Q: How much does it cost to install telephone wires in your household?Does it cost around $200.00 ?
- there's no longer plenty to installation television cable or telephone - you purely pull it by way of the studs to the place the client needs it. you do no longer could desire to hook it up - the cable corporation or the telephone corporation comes and does that. electric powered wiring is particularly extra tense. I think of maximum contractors positioned the cable television and contact in themselves - or they ask the electrician to do it as an afterthought.
- Q: How do I wire with reg 5 wire T-Stat Installing a 2 ton Goodman A/C cond unit to a old Carrier Heat pump AHU with emergency heat strip.
- red is your low voltage green is your fan yellow is your cool brown is your com orange is your heat how many wires do you have on the old one should be color to color
- Q: Why does a thin wire melt and a thick wire glow when put up to the terminals? Explain in terms of resistance and current. Thanks=]
- the electrical restistance of a thin wire is greater that the tick wire. thus : Watt = current * current * resistance if the resistance of the thick wire is 10 times the resistcance of the thin wire , then ( with same voltage ) you have for small wire Watt = current * current * resistance for thick wire Watt = 10*current * 10*current * (resistance/10) = 10current current resistance. so the power generated in the thick wire is ten times more than the power in the thin wire ( if you keep the voltage the same ) so that is not why the smaller one melts. I dont know why it melts then, interesting
- Q: During a lab experiment, a straight piece of copper wire is connected across the terminals of an AC generator and the current through the wire was measured. If the wire is removed and a part of it is tightly wound into a loop of many coils and the wire is then reconnected to the generator, will the measured current through the wire be greater, lesser, or the same as it was before the wire was coiled? Explain your answer.
- bypass to the factors save and get a Chilton's! That way you're becoming photos appropriate in front of you to adventure up your application. They value approximately $15! the remarkable $15 you will ever spend. appropriate now you will have all your wires back on and not dropping time top right here with idiots which will greater suitable valuable than probable supply you the incorrect answer as nicely!
- Q: I bought this ceiling lamp, and there are 4 wires coming out of it. One white and one black (positive and negative), a bare copper wire for grounding, but there's also a yellow striped green wire. I was wondering what's the latter one for ?In my ceiling I have the black, white and bare copper wires.I'm Canadian by the way
- Bare and Grn Yel. are both grounds . Just connect one or the other to the 'bare' in the box.
