Q:I m wondering if there s a Neutral Wire in this picture (yes I turned off the breaker to get this photo). I want to put in a quot;Smart Light Switchand they require a Neutral Wire. I ll have an electrician do the work, but want to make sure the wire exists first.
It's hard to tell from the switch and the color of the wires, but you also have an outlet in the same box as the switch. The outlet will have a neutral and, if it's on the same circuit, you should be able to use that.
Q:I have 2 connectionswire and wireless,im only connected to my wire how do I open a connection to my wireless?
You first need to make sure that your computer has support for wireless(WLAN). If it doesn't then you can't connect to the wireless network. If you do have a wireless network card then you shoudl be able to click on the start menu and go connect to and then wireless networks. It can sometimes be found in the task bar on the bottom right of your screen
Q:thats how my after market stereo is hooked up..i just got a system and was wondering if i join the remote wire to the accessory would it be ok? even if the accessory is already joined with the illumination
You need to first disconnect the accesory wire on the aftermarket radio from the illumination wire from the car harness if you are using hose connection to turn on the radio. You need to connect the accesory wire from the aftermarket radio to the accesory wire from the car radio harness, if you are using a wire harness then it would be the red wire and if the factory radio harness is cut then u'll need a test light to locate the accesory wire. On the aftermarket radio harness/plug locate the blue/white wire that's where u will need to connect the remote wire to, in order to turn your amp on and off. Don't connect the remote wire to the illumination wire from the car, or the radio harness.
Q:I need help installing a Pioneer DEH-P3700MP in a Saturn S Series 2001, the wiring harness does not fit and need to know how to connect the wires. Which wires go to what on the Saturn?
Just about any car audio shop will have an adaptor that will fit. they do not usually cost more than 10 dollars, Walmarts, bestbuy, all have them.
Q:Wire runs from breakers to a wall outlet along the garage wall
If you drill through the studs so that the cable does not lay on the face of the structure, studs, you can use NM (non-metallic) sometimes call romex. You should use 12 gage so use 12-2 cable which will have three wires including the ground. Connect to a new or otherwise unused 20 amp breaker and install as many outlets you want to this circuit.
Q:Source 115V 20A breakerI have 12/2 wire and want to wire this:GFCI 15A receptacle -to- 15A receptacle -to- 15A receptacleI have basic wiring skills, just need reassurance. Thanks.
Do you have 12/2 with ground? Use three wire cable. Start at the last receptacle. Connect the black to the brass colored screw, white to the silver screw, bare to the green screw. At the middle receptacle, use a wire nut to connect both blacks to a 6 inch piece of black wire. Fasten that short wire to the brass colored screw of that receptacle. Connect the white wires together with a 6 inch piece of white wire and connect that to the silver screw. Do the same thing with a 6 inch bare wire to the ground of the middle receptacle. Secure those receptacles to the boxes and put the little sticker (GFCI protected) on the cover plates. On the GFCI receptacle you will find two terminals across from each other marked load. Connect the black and white wires going to the middle receptacle to those terminals, keeping them on the correct side. The terminals will be marked. Connect the white and black coming from the circuit breaker to the terminals marked line. Again keep the white and black on the correct side. Use the 6 inch piece of bare with the 2 bare wires to connect to the ground screw on the GFCI. Fasten the GFCI into the box and put the cover on. Now go to your panel. Put the white wire in an empty lug on the neutral buss with all the other white wires. Do the same with the bare wire to the ground buss with the other bare wires. Connect the black wire to your new circuit breaker with it turned off. Turn it on and test the GFCI by pressing the reset and then the test button to make it trip. Reset it. That's it. William, many local jurisdictions require pigtails in this case. I don't know where MMike is from, so I used the more restrictive code. And in my humble opinion, when you shove 4 stiff 12 ga wires on screws back into the box, you have double the chance a screw is going to turn and loosen, giving you a bad connection, not NEC code there, just me and over 45 years experience. Thanks Russ.
Q:I want to get an underground fence but i cant figure out what the difference in the wire they use and regular insullated wire. What is the difference and why can't i use regular wire instead of the wire that comes with the kit

Q:I have two black wires running to a light switch that I need to extend about a foot. I cannot identify the hot wire because both wires are black and I have no white wire. Can I cap off both wires and then test each with a voltmeter? If the circuit is not complete, will the hot wire still be live?
ok, a light switch is different then a outlet plug. the black wire is the hot wire and comes in to one side if the switch and goes out the other side. the switch just open the circuit to turn off the light or closes the circuit to turn it on.
Q:If I have wired my 20 amp kitchen receptacles with 12/2 wire which only has a red, black, and ground wire, do I use the red wire for a neutral and the black as a hot?
You must not use 20 Amps for a regular wall plug, it will burn! there is no such thing as 20 A duplex plug, they only come in simplex! If the cable has only a black and red wire it is usually for 220V applications! Sometimes you will find a 3 conductor cable in a kitchen plug, black, red and white wire. This is for a dual circuit outlet. The top plug has a different circuit breaker than the lower plug. As the others have answered, check your local code! Check with your insurance company, because they may effectively void the coverage! It is best to get help from someone qualified.
