- Q: How much does it cost to install telephone wires in your household?Does it cost around $200.00 ?
- in NYC (718) verizon charges close to 200.... the carrier i work for charges much less.. and when I do freelance work I get about 1/4 that.... you can hire anyone you want to install the telephone wiring inside your home, you do not need to pay your telephone company so much to install a jack... if you are talking about getting new phone service... in NY verizon charges 125....
- Q: my dogs have chewed my central air contactor wire.my ac will not cut on. does anyone knows how to replace them and where to buy replacement wires locally( i live in Dallas TX.) i would like to do it myself instead of spending a lot of money.
- This should be copper wire and a splice could be made with little risk since the thermostat is a low voltage circuit in most cases. Try the local HVAC contractor for some of the type you need. There are different types ( number of conductors) for different controllers so they need to match. If you just have the HVAC contractor do a fall service on the system they can make the needed repairs and prepare the whole system for the winter. It was probably used a lot this last summer so a service is about due.
- Q: How do they differ from residential wiring?
- Commercial and industrial wiring make extensive use of conduit, cable trays/ This entails explosion-proof or flame-proof fittings, along with the seals and other conduit fittings. Residential wiring, in most cases make extensive use of romex cables without any conduit. Other than these major and a few minor differences, the wiring is actually the same. This is the installation of cables/wires from the circuit breakers to the users. TexMav
- Q: Coming from my ceiling I have a black, a grey, 2 white, 2 bare and a red wire. Coming from my ceiling fan/light fixture is a green, black, black with a white stripe and a white wire. How exactly would I go about wiring this? It is a two switch setup without a remote.Thank you in advance.
- I have hooked up ceiling fans and your question is common. Did the fan come with intructions, does the fan have a light attached. Find the correct breaker and turn it off. First hang the fan where you can assemble the wires together. Black wire to black wire. One white from the ceiling to one white. The bare wires one of these wires grounds to either the metal box you attached the fan to or to one of the srcews. Keep the wires from touching. Maybe the green to the grey. I hate to tell you to guess from here. all you can do is trip the breaker if not correct,
- Q: How could you relate greater wire length resulting in greater resistivity to the context of home
- Greater wire length will certainly give you a higher resistance. Since heat is measured in watts, and watts (W) =I^2R, where I=Current and R= resistance, then if you double the resistance of a wire (by making it twice as long) you also double the ammount of watts lost in the wire. Since watts equates to heat, this ammount of heat will make the wire hotter. If you use an extension lead, and wind it round a drum, it can get very hot indeed.
- Q: A toy of 2.8N is suspended by two wires from a horizontal beam. One wire is 40 degrees to the vertical of the beam. The other is at 60 degrees to the beam. What is the tension in each wire?
- The horizontal tensions in the two wires must be equal. The vertical tensions must add to 2.8N. Let the tension in the wires be t1 and t2. t1 * sin(40) <== horizontal tension in wire 1 t1 * cos(40) <== vertical tension in wire 1 t2 * sin(60) <== vertical tension in wire 2 t2 * cos(60) <== horizontal tension in wire 2 t1^2 = (horizontal tension in wire 1)^2 + (vertical tension in wire 1)^2 t2^2 = (horizontal tension in wire 2)^2 + (vertical tension in wire 2)^2
- Q: I bought a cheap amp wiring kit so the ground wire is not the same size as the power wire but my friend gas me an extra piece of 8 gauge wire same as mine if i put both of these to on at the same time would it help out any? also he gave me some audio cable like the wires inside are twisted to gather the box says it gives you better sound quality would they make a difference in sound that the one's i have on there know? Thanks
- NO, you need to buy thicker wire because electricity follows the path of least resistance which means if one of the wires is 1/8 of an inch longer than the other, that is the wire the most electricity will flow through, as far as the speaker wire it wont make a difference unless it is thicker than what you already have installed (its very hard to tell the difference in sound quality even with very high quality speakers
- Q: do i need a wiring harness or can i use wire crimps and do it w.o on a 2000 blazer 4wd if u think i need it plz tell me thanks
- You should always use a wiring harness to install a stereo in a vehicle. Cutting the wires and attempting to hand wire is almost always a bad idea. The wiring harness is pretty cheap ($10-$20) and simplifies the whole procedure. Most of the time, the wiring harness and the head unit have similar colored wiring to aid in quick connections. Also, and more importantly, you can reverse the installation. The plugs will still be there and no cutting and rewiring at all. Remember, the head unit costs $150-$250 bucks, why would you cut corners on the installation kit?
- Q: i have a 3mm diameter wire that has only a single thick conductor and it's really really hard?how do i know if it is a magnetic wire or not?are thick magnetic wires hard or soft to be wrapped?are there other types of wire that have a single conductor thick conductor?note: single thick conductorgt;gt; i mean they are not thin parallel collected wires like usual

- Q: tryin to move dryer approx 8 more feet but existing wire not long enough have 12/2 wire can that be used to run 220 dryer
- Not sure why all the TD to the answers that say you need 10/3 (plus ground). They are all absolutely correct.
