- Q: I've been working on a couple projects in one room in my house. The room really needs to be vacuumed but there is aquarium gravel scattered around as well as a bunch of tiny screws. I have a shark vacuum. There's no threat of puncturing a bag because this vacuum doesn't use a bag - it uses a canister. I could easily empty the canister and then go over the floor with the hose. I'm wondering if it's an ok idea though because I don't want to damage anything in the vacuum. Occasionally, my battery powered aquarium vacuum will suck up a couple pieces of gravel, they'll get stuck, stop the vacuum, and I have to get them out for the vacuum to work again. I don't know how house vacuums work, but I don't want that to happen. If there aren't any mechanical components to be damaged, then I guess the only other worry would be the hose, but the hose on this vacuum feels pretty sturdy, and I would just be vacuuming tiny gravel and tiny, corroded screws - nothing sharp like tacks or nails. What do you guys think?
- really?...really?
- Q: I currently have a Bissell bagless. It just seems where I live (rural area) I am vacuuming 3-4 times a week and although I take the vacuum apart and clean regularly, it just doesn't seem to pick-up like I think it should. Anyone have an opinion on the Dyson vacuum cleaners? I am considering purchasing one and would like to know what you like or dislike about it. Thank you
- I have a dc15 ball dyson. I love it it sucks up everything. it really works great. and with the lifetime filter i wash that about once a month. the cons.. I like using the floor attachment for the hose for hard floors than the head of the vacuum. but other than that I looooove it!!! plus i like the way it manuveurs easier than others. some say not having a light on this one makes it difficult to see in small places. I have not had that problem.
- Q: this house s covered in dirt. im 20 with a 2yr old daughter and almost 16 weks preg with our 2nd. my husband is 22, we live with his dad and sister because mu husbands job keeps cutting hours and hes not making enough to get our own place, and i know some people will be like well if you dont have money to get your own place why have another kid...well i was on birth control both times ok!!! and i dont do abortion, and if i have a child i am going to keep it and take responsiblity and not jut give it away ok!...anyway back to the question...so i want to clean this house, it makes me so mad with how gross it is...everything gets dusty super fast and the carpets always have dirt in them. Our vacuum broke, so is there a way for me to clean all this without a vacuum???
- Wow, defensive much? We really didn't need to know your living situation in order to help you clean. What about one of those little carpet sweeper things? It would be a lot of work to get all the dirt out, but it would be better than nothing, and far less expensive than a vacuum. Take rugs outside and beat them. And for hard surfaces, a broom and/or a dust mop. The easiest way to dust is to put a sock on your hand and wipe everything down, with Pledge or another dust spray if you have it, dry if you don't.
- Q: I heard Dysons are very nice, but they are very expensive. I could save up for one but it is all its cracked up to be? Are there any less expensive vacuum cleaners out there that are worth the money? I want one that doesn't clog easy and can pick up pet hair. Also preferably one that isn't too messy to dump it contents. Thanks ! :)
- I have Dyson and I LOVE it. I have had it for over a year, and it still works great! My mother has had hers for 5 years and has never had a problem with it. Prior to getting her Dyson, she would go through a vacuum once a year.
- Q: This will be my first purchase of a quot;realvacuum cleaner and have no knowledge of brands or anything like that. I know I want a baggless. and I want something powerful, but I also want to the best value for my money... Can anyone give me any insight? Or suggestions for other vacuums?? I have around $300 to spend on a target gift card.
- I would DEFINITELY go with the Dyson they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. If you have pets in the house the DC7 animal would be a better choice .My Dyson DC15 animal picks up me doggy hair BETTER than if I got down there with duct tape on my hands.Dyson is a great value you made a good choice,I'm not sure what the price difference is mine was an anniversary gift so I think the 07 will be just great if you don't have animals and if you do I would strongly recommend the 07 animal and the animals pick up kids messes too.Good Luck which ever one you decide on you will be very pleased I'm sure.
- Q: are there any vacuum cleaners with the carpet shampooer built in?
- I have a Kirby G10 that does both. You can also spray paint with it! Weird, huh?
- Q: I am slow to put my sweaters away for the summer and out of the way of moths. It's possible a moth already found them and layed her eggs on them. I shook them all outside carefully, have placed them in a zipper bag and will add some mothballs. Will that kill the eggs that might be in there???P.S. I am not going to wash them all because some were washed and others are not soiled.
- moth balls stink. cedar chips work well and smell a lot better
- Q: my sister has guinea pigs, and it is so hard to live sometimes because they make my eyes itch so much! so anyway.. what are those machines called they cleans the air you breathe? thank you so much!
- vacuum cleaners....
- Q: Can anyone/everyone help me in knowing what to buy as far as vacuum cleaners go?? I am in desperate need to replace the piece of crap that I currently have and are having a heck of a time doing it, for there are oh I don't know millions of them!!! I have a cat, 2 adults 3 kids so I definitely live in a High Traffic Household. Also I need one that comes with a hose (not just the floor sucking kind) and lots of attachments cause I like to go against the wall where the kids get dirt in the corners and the cat gets cat litter. I need as much feedback as I can get as to what I can buy. I would LOVE a Dyson, but I don't have a $1000.00 to spend and more like $200.00 (or less). PLEASE HELP!!!
- I've had a kirby G4 (generation 4) and it's been great. The only downside is you can only buy the bags from a dealer (or rep like at a sewing center or repair shop) or online and they tend to be expensive. It comes with alot of attachments, but to use the hose requires getting down, removing the front metal part and attaching the hose. They usually come with a dvd (or you can probably watch it on their website) that goes over how to take that on and off, and do other things with it like using it for a blower (like to clean your deck of leaves), rug shampoer and upholstery cleaner, and how to remove the bag. They tend to be heavy but last forever. Any of the generation (G) models would probably be fine.
- Q: My 6 month old Sammys in love with our vacuum, any time I try to vacuum the house he crawls around trying to grab at it, and if its just sitting there, he's practically tackle it and try to climb on it! All my siblings were scared horrible of vacuums, so i find this hilarious! Who else babies love vacuum cleaners??? And is there anything I can do to differ this attraction? Lol, its adorable, but makes cleaning harder!
- My oldest has always loved the vacuum too! He used to sit on it while I vacuumed, lol. So cute. Now, my three and four year old run and hide pretending to be scared, but laughing the whole time. My four month old sits and drools while staring at the wild commotion. I sometimes think he wonders what the heck he's gotten himself into joining our crazy family.
