- Q: I have two dogs who shed like CRAZY and I have blue carpet and their fur sticks out and my vacuum just is not picking it up. What vacuum works the best?

- I have a couple of Oreck vacuum cleaners. They have disposable bags. They are powerful and light weight. You need the Oreck hand vacuum that goes with the upright Oreck as there is no hose on the main unit. Oreck has a small vacuum with all the hose attachments and it also has a disposable bag. Very handy for doing stairs. I've had mine for about eight years with no problems at all.
- Q: I am looking for two vacuums... One so I can clean around the house, and a hand held with a hose for the stairs. I don't want to pay a fortune, and I would rather not pay over $50.00 for a handheld. I would like to stay in the range of $150.00 for the regular vac. Thanks.
- I have a little hand held dirt devil dust buster. It is the greatest thing! There are no cords, so you can take it anywhere. It is so great for vacuuming the car!! As for one around the house, you are going to have to look for one based on your specific needs. There are ones for pet owners, deep steam cleaners, etc. And if you really don't want to do it yourself, there are the roomba's that do it all for you!!! Walmart has a ton of vacuums. I posted a link on here. You can also search by price.

- without going into a long answer,I will tell you you would be better off getting a Hepa vacuum with washable filters,and a dirt chamber that is removable than spending big money on a vacuum that is over rated and very expensive.

- Q: The ball can move up and down. I looked closely, and the ball can seal the hole. I flipped my vacuum upside down and the pressure easily holds the ball there. I suppose it must be there to help the flow. Not sure if any swirling occurs below the impeller suction hole, but I doubt it. Is the sphere acting as a diffuser or nozzle somehow?Just wondering. Thanks.
- Shop vacs are designed to suck up liquids and when the tank fills the ball will float and eventually plug the air suction opening to the blower. The ball is there to prevent liquid from the tank from being sprayed out of the vacuum and to protect the motor from that liquid.
- Q: My bagless vacuum is about 1 year old. We change our HEPA filter and the round filter under the dirt trap, clean the washable sponge as instructed. Recently, all of a sudden the machine smells really bad like a dead body is inside the machine. Anyone with a solution?
- If you pick up a stink-bug (swarming this time of year in the mid-atlantic and NE), dead mouse (reaching under radiators or beds, for instance) or other critter, that would cause a stink pretty quickly. And permeate your filters even if you clean the cup. Re-clean everything, and clean the hose and cup as well. Baking soda and some of the smell-killer sprays will help with the hose.
