Q: We have a Dirt Devil vacuum currently that we've had forever. It's fantastic but I'm wanting to replace it finally. I'd like a steamer/shampooer but obviously don't need to do that weekly. I'd prefer not to have to purchase both a vacuum and a steamer. Is there an affordable alternative which can do both?Thank you!

Q: I am trying to find an inexpensive vacuum for my apartment. One day I will buy a fancy expensive one but I need one now and that is not what I can afford. I have been looking at what vacuums people recommend and it sounds like the bagged vacuums work better. However, most of the ones in the stores are bagless so I had assumed that was better. Is that only true with high end machines? Or is everyone carrying bagless just because they look cooler on the shelves?
Bagless vacuums are getting hard to find. Go to a vacuum repair shop and see if they have any reconditioned ones for sale.
Q: Do roomba vacuum cleaners really work well? What are their advantages and shortages?Do you have one?
yes im interested in a roomba
Q: Is there any difference between any Hoover Vacuum Cleaners or are they all the same?
There are different prices and different features. All Hoover products work well. I've been a Hoover user for 50 years.
Q: My son just started crawling and of course tries to pick up every little thing on the carpet...heres the problem, he is terrified of the vacuum and too heavy for me to hold or keep in a carrier as I do it. How often do you do these chores, does anyone have a way for me to help my son not be afraid?
When my children were smaller I use to sweep and mop once a day (usually in the evenings after they went to bed), and vacuum every other day (depending on how much stuff they were sticking in their mouths). One of my sons was terrified of the vacuum (he use to scream!) but then he got to where he liked to chase the vacuum...it just depends on your kid, I don't know how to help you there.
Q: I have two pembroke welsh corgis who shed like crazy and bare floors (no carpet at all). I am looking for a great, affordable vacuum that does not collect hair in the bristles on the bottom of the vacuum but actually sucks it up into the machine. HEPA included preferably since I suffer from allergies to a ridiculous amount of indoor allergens. Any suggestions of good or even bad vacuum cleaners to buy would be great! Thanks :)
My Oreck does great on both carpet and hard flooring, but it is not a cheap vacuum. On the other hand, it has lasted me something like 15 years and still works like new, so in the long run it is probably worth the price.
Q: How efficient are vacuum cleaners in preventing the dust and other dirt that they suck from escaping through the air outlet. I'm using a Khind branded wet and dry vaccum cleaner model VC 3661, priced about USD 60, manufactured in 2004. The type that is shaped like a bucket and has its air outlet facing upwards and a removable, washable cotton bag inside. I notice that it has only two layers (slices) of dark -colored Sponge like material when I remove the air outlet cover. Is that sufficient to prevent dust, dirt and most importantly bacteria from coming out form the cleaner itself. It could be releasing the bacteria and spreading it all over the place.

Incidentally, when vacuum cleaner manufacturers talk about the life of a hepa filter, they are basing it on one hour of weekly usage. A vacuum cleaner usually works by having a power head attachment to a canister or integrated into an upright, which has some rotating brushes, which first of all loosen up the dirt on the carpet.
Q: What makes vacuum cleaners work?

Q: why vacuum cleaners are scary?
