Q: How do I wire an outlet that has two black and to white wires. It this case the white being the HOT wires?? Don't know why all the white wires in my house are HOT.. And the black are nuetral???
Seen it before in residential, commercial and industrial apps. Why? Haven't a clue other than folks are just backwards that way. *L* I laugh now but it's usually not funny in the field. I've heard arguments between electric power and electronic folk over black v. red color codes but don't remember similar arguments over black v. white. Perhaps someone older than me can shed some light...
Q: When making pc boards with microcontrollers, oscillators, etc.. What is the right kind of wiring to use? Specifically:What material (e.g. copper)? What thickness? What brand?Where to buy? What's the difference between the stiff wire and easily bendable wire? Thanks.
I don't mean to piggyback on his question but I'm also doing a project. Making a solar phone charger... My first project really but I have one solar panel 5V max output, but when soldered only gives out 2.8... Sending it to a mini buck booster but that needs at least 2.6 to work. I am just using simple stranded speaker wire, and admittedly the soldering skill needs work. But what kind of wire would I use
Q: I bought these speakers and I was wondering what kind of wiring do I need to get to wire them to the amp?

Q: Stereo wire digram
Orange. See the first source.
Q: I bought a bathroom fan timer and tried to install it. It has four wires and the wall switch circuit has only 3 wires. What do I do?
sounds like you have one wire short in the box. you need to power the timer. which means you have to use your ground wire for the neutral wire. and this means you have no proper ground. so wire it like this old black to black old white to red old green to new white and to box new green to box. to do it properly you need a 4 wire cable coming into the box and going to the power source or to where there is a proper neutral wire. the thing is the timer wants full power going to it complete with a ground circuit. the switch before it was just that a switch which interrupted the power on one side of the fan so all it needed was 2 wires and the ground to be properly wired
Q: I needed a new tail light for my trailer. The aftermarket tail lights only came with two wires sticking out the back, one red and one black. The stock tail light that broke had 3 wires and so does the harness on the trailer end. People have told me that even though it is different it will work. Do I join the two hot wires together with the red wire and then the return wire to the black? There is no wiring diagram avalible and I dont have the money to replace then entire lighting system. Thanks for your help.
Pull the lens and look at the bulb. If it is a 2 element bulb then it will work, if it is a single element it will not. If it is a 2 element then one of the wires is turn and stop light and the other is tail light. It will use a body ground in that case. On your trailer harness you will have a brown wire, that is tail lights, the turn and stop light (same wire) will be either green or yellow depending on what side of the trailer you are on. The white wire is ground. The turn and stop light will be much brighter than the tail light so just twist the wires together and see which is which. You can hook the white wire to the mounting screw of the light fixture to be sure you have a good ground.
Q: My house is currently wired using Cat-5 lines. If I were to replace the Cat-5 wiring with Cat-6 wiring, would I see an increase in my DSL speed?
VSA (Very Short Answer): No You may think this way: you have a working 100mbps LAN linking your computers. Maybe you have a 1000mbps LAN in case you use Gigabit Ethernet. You have a leased line (DSL) from the ISP rated for, maybe, 8 mbps --- it is an example, ok?. And you know this bandwidth is almost never achieved, and that any bandwidth you have is shared among your local computers. So even if the LAN performance increases by some infinitesimal factor by just using better cabling, you still are constrained by the bandwidth you pay for, or worse, the bandwidth you actually get from the ISP. The CAT-6 cables are really effective on very long cable runs or situations where the cables cross areas with high rates of electrical interference, as noted here by another user.
Q: i have old wiring for a stove that iam putting in ,a new box but i have only 3 wires 2 of them are white and 1 black how should i connect on a 4 wire receptacle? on the receptacle 1 white 1 green, 4 a ground then it says x then y ???????
The new 4 wire receptacle needs a 4 wire circuit. It will have a white, a green or bare for ground, and a black and red for x and y.
Q: a difference of 25 feet with 16 gague wire
It depends on the impedance of the speakers; but 25 feet should not be a problem as long as your speakers are not less than 4 ohm, if your speakers are rated at 4 ohm you might want to use 14 gauge wire as 25 feet is considered the maximum length for 16 gauge wire..either way 14 gauge or 16 gauge wire with 4 ohm speakers and above should not damage your amp, 16 gauge wire may effect performance a little...if you are talking about different length wire to each speaker then you should use 12 gauge wire to the longer length and 16 gauge wire to the shorter length.....and even then you may notice some differance in preformance but that would keep it to a minimum...
Q: does copper, bell, or speaker wire carry energy faster
If he is an Electrician than my guess is that the wire is solid copper (not stranded). While this will technically work, it is not very flexible and it would be single wire which could mean getting the polarity (+ and -) easily confused. Save yourself the headache and just buy some 12 gauge stranded speaker wire. (It's not that expensive).
