Q: Ceiling fan has a black wire, white wire, green wire and also a black and white wire.: Black + White, sounds like a 3 wire cable with ground. It will carry power. Black, power Black and white, power White, neutral Green, grounding. One of the wires with power will power the lights. The other powers the motor for the fan.

Find out which wire is not working. Use a meter that has a sharp probe, so you can stab the wire with the probe and see if it is putting out the electricity, up the wire from where you put the socket on. If the wire is not working, but off the part of the wire that is not working and splice in a new piece of wire and attach to the socket. Hopefully this will help you.

The purple (violet with yellow stripe) wire goes to the PCI bus and is not used with aftermarket radios. Cap it. The orange wire is to dim the radio display when the headlights are on. Optional but not required. Cap it. The dark blue with brown stripe is not in the wiring diagram for the radio. The right front speaker wires are Violet/Dark Green stripe and Dark Blue/Red stripe. If your battery is draining then make sure the Red/White stripe wire is connected to switched power and the Pink wire is hot all the time. If reversed the battery will be drained.

What you now have is stranded wire that has been tinned on one end. A tinned wire is one that has been soldered to keep the strands together and make for a stronger connection. If the wire must be flexible then replace with stranded wire. Solid wire will be easier for you to work with but not will not work as well if the wire moves a lot. Additional Yes you could solder the wires if there is enough to hook to. The size wire I think you are talking about can be soldered with about any small soldering iron and resin core solder. You might even slip a piece of heat shrink tubing over the wire before you solder the wire. After making the connection you can slide the heat shrink tubing in place, heat the tube to insulate the connection.
