- Q: Someone Stole my stock radio out of my car (They cut it out) Now All i have in the is wires and I cannot afford to go get a new one installed. Here are the wires that are in my car
- Here's your audio wiring layout: Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Yellow/Green Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Orange/Green Car Radio Ground Wire: Black/Green Car Radio Illumination Wire: Orange/Black Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Black Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray/Black Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Red Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray/Red Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Green Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray/White Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): White Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray
- Q: has black wires.
- Two black wires in the box would be a hot from the supply and a switched hot to the load. If the timer has only two wires then it should be pretty easy to just connect them. If they are marked line and load then you would have to hook the wire for line to the wire in the box that is always hot from the supply and the other to the wire marked load. If you are still unsure then it really is not a job for you alone, enlist the help of someone with a bit more experience or even an electrician.
- Q: ceiling fan connections which wire goes where?
- THe black wire is hot (live) The white wire is netural (return path) The green wire is ground (connected to metal juction box) the red wire is use in connecting three-way switch
- Q: Can I run a 10 gauge 2 wire plus ground from a double pole 30 amp breaker to a dryer that uses 240v? I need to know if the one black wire will be sufficient or if i need to get a 2 hot one neutral wire.
- You can use the 10/3 wire, but you wire it so that the black and the white are hot wires and the ground is the neutral. Of course you won't have the bare ground to use as a ground anymore, so if you want it wired with a bare ground to the cabinet, you will need to run a separate bare ground. Or get different wire with a red a black a white and a bare ground. Red and black will be hot, white will be neutral and bare ground will be ground.
- Q: other than soldering and using a T-tap (wire tap), what are other common ways of connecting two wires together? Also, what does the following video say at the 1 minute 10 second mark? It's a something-set that helps to attach wires.
- wires can be welded or brazed (which is a little different than soldering) and mechanically attached (wire nut or screw terminal). THere are some electrically conductive pastes and adhesives. The ends of the wires can be immersed in a container of Hg (but this is getting farther away from common ways).
- Q: hey im wiring up a headunit to my L300 van. The factory headunit wasnt there and im having trouble connecting which colour wires to the factory colour wires. if anyone knows which coulours go to what would be much appreciatedcheers.
- Hi, okorder /
- Q: Or speaker wire that has an RCA plug on one end?If you know of something that is inexpensive without me having to get another preamp, please help.(this is for a turntable preamp by the way, my preamp only has RCA output.)
- do not use speaker wire for the turntable preamp!! use RCA cables. speaker wire is balanced wire, both conductors are identical. RCA connectorized wire is coaxial, shielded and unbalanced. You need the shielded coaxial unbalanced wire.
- Q: i just bought a 97 jeep wrangler..the soundbar isnquot;t hooked up. I pulled the carpet back and found the following: a red wire connecting the soundbar to under the dash (probably power), and a black wire connecting the soundbar to metal. there are 4 small wires unattached to anything coming from the soundbar, and a red and white sound wire coming from under the dash (actually has plugs like on a tv surround system), and a ground wire all unattached. how can i hook this mess up to make the soundbar work. i do have sound coming from the front dash speakers. thanks for help.
- while you're switching spkrs you're able to purchase spkr harness from superb purchase, circut city and so on. which plugs into manufacturing unit harness and has a black and crimson coming off it. If the harness is decrease and you're no longer working an amp to the spkr then you definately probable purely have approximately 7 watts rms going to the spkr and you're able to be able to hook it up the two way and probably no longer tell the version.
- Q: I have eight speaker wires, I can figure that out on my own. I also have a red/blue stripe, black/red stripe, black/white stripe, and blue. Which ones are the power wires?
- you will need a DVM, to find what is what. Check the fuse box, and make sure the fuse is good, and search for the constant power.Set the meter to 20V. I like to stick the ground on my meter, in the ignition where the key goes. Then find the switched, key on wire. obviously, you'll have to move the ground on the meter for that. Don't forget to solder and use heat shrink tubing, or red and blue butt connectors, and heat shrink, or tape them well. Then set the meter to ohms, or the omega pic on the meter. once you find a resistance for each speaker, pop it with a 9V battery, not a AA, as both terminals are on top. then when you hear which speaker pops, wire it accordingly. Good Luck!
- Q: ok...all the wires in my quot;atticare encased in this silver metal casing....when i opened a bathroom wall...the wires were also like that.....at the fuse box...they all leave like that........sooooo, can i assume all my wires are encased like that? does that make them pretty safe from rodents chewing? (yup-been watching Billy the Exterminator) why were they done like that? tx for any info....
- First when houses were electrically wired, they used what was called knob and tube. Next came BX,or flexible metal tubing which is what you have. Plastic wiring or Romex is the last and most commonly used type of wiring for homes. Don't mess with the flexible metal wiring. There are certain requirements when you cut and enter the metal into a metal outlet box. One of the most important things is a red fiber bushing called a cherry and I do not think they are available any more. I have some that I keep in my antiques closet. LOL
