Q: i want to knit or crochet a rectangular rug for my room not too big but not too small. ive looked on the internet but the ones i like are too hard and the rest are nothing but granny squares or look like over sized doilies =( please help me find classy yet kinda simple patterns.. pictures would help
One of the problems with substituting other yarn for rug yarn is that rug yarn is generally more resilient because you need to be able to walk on it, however, I have done some latch-hook work and have found that chunky 16 ply yarns are similar in thickness to 6 ply rug yarn and are therefore a reasonable substitute. 3 or 4 strands of knitting yarn may also give you a similar thickness and may work for you purposes but won't have the same resilience as proper rug yarn.
Q: can olifine pile rugs go outdoors?
I've used them on my patio, but have experienced some problems particularly if they are rubber backed. Moisture gets between the backing and the fiber to cause little black spots on the rug which are mildew. If it rains and the rug stays hortizontal for any length of time, it will mold as well. The good news is that both can be removed with DampRid Mold and Mildew Remover (the one for fabrics) and it protects the rug from it happening again with little moisture exposure (not drenching, pouring soaking rain). If I'd have known about this product, I would have sprayed it on first before putting it outside and just picked it up when we have a heavy rain to keep it from molding.
Q: Erm... I spilled beer on my carpet.Do I need to use a carpet shampooer or can I just scrub it out? Does it stain?
as a IIcrc Cert. Carpet cleaning Tech, I can tell you that if you didnt get all the beer out of the carpet, and what i mean is if the padding is still wet it will form what is called a water stain witch most of the time will come out if you clean the carpet again but dont use soap in the carpet cleaning machine put it in a spray bottle and spray it on the carpet first let it sit for about 10 mins, then put rubbing alochol in the water water about 1/2 cup then the rest hot water. then dry good
Q: How do I remove the tea stains from the carpet?
The carpet of tea with paper towels and dishcloth drying solution;
Q: i can't find any reviews on it. does anyone knows if its any good?
Rambo is a really high quality brand. Most things from them are really nice and durable.
Q: The tar has been on the carpet for four months
Rubbing alcohol may work to remove the remaining stain. Pour a little directly onto the stain and blot with a clean dry cloth. Once the stain is lifted, blot again with a damp cloth. Lighter fluid also works much in the same manner to remove greasy stains such as tar, but take care when using this method. It should go without saying that lighter fluid, as well as rubbing alcohol and other flammable agents, shouldn’t be used near fireplaces, wood burning stoves and other sources of heat and flame. WD-40 has also been proven to remove tar from rugs and carpets. Spray a little on and let sit. The tar should lift right off with a little gentle rubbing. You can also try making your own cleaning solution. In a spray bottle mix one part mild dishwashing detergent and one part of warm water. Saturate the stain and let sit for an hour or so. When time is up, keep blotting with a thick, dry cloth until the stain is lifted. If a yellow mark remains after your remove the tar, try some hydrogen peroxide but remember, it’s bleach so be sure to test first to make sure you’re not creating an eyesore. Once you’ve completely removed the tar from the carpet, rinse the stain with lukewarm water and blot dry.
Q: I would like to have it completely carpeted from wall to wall. How much will it cost me to buy the carpeting and have it installed professionally?
ionno try getting quotes from a few business's in your area
Q: Carpet iron is different from ordinary iron
The most common way is to use a vacuum cleaner along the direction of the hair vacuum, such as local pollution, can be carpet dry cleaning agent or ordinary dry cleaning agent, and then wipe with a damp cloth, and dry in the shade;
Q: I have wall to wall carpets in my apartment. I have placed large rugs on top of the carpet. Without damaging the carpet or the rug, how can I stop them from .wrinkling and moving? Is it caused by static electricity?
Stores sell kind of a rubbery,mat that lays under throw and area rugs. It is made to keep them from moving around and its not sticky so it won't hurt the carpet underneath.
Q: so in my room i have a carpet which my mother told me that when our apartment was built they sticked the carpet with a special glue... under the carpet there are tiles..... but the glue is stuck to the tiles and i pulled the carpet to see whats happening under it because i really want to remove it because its unhealthy.... and i poored hot water and chlorine on and i took a knife to scratch it and the tiles wallpaper (however the call that thing) disappears and all i see its something black... what is that and what can i do now???? i already ripped a lot my carpet... any suggestions? what is that black thing??? is it the cement of the tiles?
First you do not need to put chlorine in with the water. The black paper ( is that what it looks like?) could just be something that was used to even out the floor's surface. Forget the knives and scratching! Adhesives ( glues) are sometimes soluble with water.. Sometimes with heat - you heat the glue moderately with perhaps a steam iron or a hair dryer, the glue will loosen enough to pry back the carpet. Otherwise- and this is totally out of range of my experience- solvents are sometimes used. I would not recommend using any kind of flammable solvent. Instead of knives find a wide putty knife to help lift the carpet off the tiles, this will get a larger area up off the tiles and will not scrape or gouge the tiles nor is it likely to slip and cut you. And you can get one for a few dollars. Work a little at a time- maybe it will take you a day or two- and wear safety glasses when you pull up the carpet because it is easy to get a small carpet fiber into your eye and it is a pain to get it out!
