Q: What good is a carpet?
Carpet water absorption, usually careless cup of water spilled on the ground, does not matter.
Q: I recently moved into my first apartment and its pretty nice except for the carpet in the living room. Its a kight green color and it's just full if stains. I would love to just put a new carpet in but thats not really practical because I'm just renting the place. It waould cost stanley steamers about $100 to clean it but this carpet is really old and stained. Would it even be worth that? I'm afraid I'm gonna spend the money and it's still gonna look gross
As a professional carpet cleaner this comes up a lot. Our policy is we will try a spot/stain or two (usually the worst) to give you an idea of what the carpet will turn out like. If you don't think it will turn out the way you like that's it we leave. No reputable carpet cleaner will guarantee a spot or stain will come out until they try, because they can't tell for sure until they try. A carpet cleaner can tell if some stains are likely to come out but cannot guarantee it. As an incentive to get your lanlord to pay for the carpet cleaning you can point out carpet cleaning is tax deductable for a landlord.(which is why mony landlords ask you for the reciept, for their files of course, if you get the carpets clean) but thats another story
Q: I have a white carpet that has gotten dirty over the years. The color has just generally changed to a dirtier white. It's kinda dark and you can easily tell which parts of the carpet haven't gotten dirty over the years as they are perfectly white. I also have some stains. I tried bleaching some parts of the carpet which did actually work, but that left clean spots that look weird compared to how the rest of the carpet is. I would bleach the whole thing but it created such a strong smell last time that I couldn't sleep in my room. Is there a way to generally whiten the entire carpet with the supers strong smell of bleach. Preferably a way to do this with household items. Thank you.
Sorry man you have ruined your carpet. As a few other folks have mentioned you ''should'' have contacted an IICRC certified carpet cleaner. Bleach never stops oxidizing until you neutralize it. You can contact a qualified hot water extraction carpet cleaner (IICRC is a Professional association that indicates they know what they are doing) to see if they might be able to make it livable. By the way its a cleaning wand not a magic wand, they will only be able to do so much.
Q: Basically, my dad washed the rug with laundry detergent. But he put it in an area to dry, where there is no sunlight. So it didn't dry all the way and ended up creating this mildew smell on it. I decided to wash it again, but this time with a solution called Fiber Cleansing, that is used to fight stains on carpets. And I vacuumed the rug with a wet/dry vacuum to get all the water out of it. I got most of it out, but still had a smell to it. So I decided to pour a box of baking soda all over it, to get the smell out of it. (What the internet told me to do) After leaving the baking soda on there for 2 days, still nothing. The rug itself is pretty dry now, still a bit damp on the underside of it. It still smells. What can I do?
Forget the bleach and any other solutions given. Re launder the rug but this time add 1/3 cup bicarb soda and 1/3 cup white vinegar to the wash and 1/3 cup white vinegar to the rinse. Both of these will absorb the odour and the white vinegar will kill any mould/mildew. Make sure the rug is dried where there is an airflow, even if there is no sunlight, but sunlight is good. The trick is to make sure the rug dries as quickly as possible and a good airflow helps this happen Re what you did with the baking powder..... the rug needed to be dry first. As it was still damp the mildew was still growing. Sprinkling bicarb soda on a dry rug that has an odour will absorb the odour. I promise, if you follow the instructions, the above will work. that
Q: What are the advantages and disadvantages of acrylic carpet? How about the household?
Hello I'm glad to answer that for you. First of all, acrylic carpet certainly suitable for household, acrylic carpets strong benefits and beauty become more people preferred. Acrylic carpet is the favorite of most people, there is an important point is that acrylic carpet durability, but also easy to clean. But its advantages and disadvantages, you also need to consider their own, the following I would like to ask the carpet carpet advantages and disadvantages to you, I hope to adopt!
Q: i have a cream colored rug and i got mustard in it..how do i get it ou? anyone know an old trick or any other advice????
yes and this works. get a white damp cloth (rag or towel) then get an iron. put the damp cloth over the stain and iron over it. The stain will be lifted off the rug onto the cloth. Use a white cloth so you can see the stain as its removed. If it doesnt work dampen/wet the cloth so more and try again! You can either dampen the cloth or dampen the stain with water. I do this all the time on my carpets and it works! goodluck!
Q: What are the benefits of regular cleaning of carpets?
I have been to a small day (general entertainment is dimly lit, can let you distinguish between men and women is good), looking for something to see the headlights opened to see the results of sofa, tea table around the stained, the sofa is too horrible to look at, carefully smell, taste it..... You have no appetite for eating in such a place!
Q: I have dark brown (medium chocolate, I'd call it) warm modern style leather sofa and love seat in a white room with 10 foot ceilings (I can't paint). The floors are oak, as is one book case (modern lines, arts and crafts style detail). The feet of the sofa are a dark walnut color. The accent pieces in the room will be yellow hues (artwork, vase, throw pillows). What sort of area rug should I get? Colors, patterns? Links to examples would be awesome. I'm getting more furniture, but I think the rug could really warm up the room. I'm concerned about getting something that looks too country or contemporary against the modern lines of the furniture.
A rug with geometric motifs or pattern would be best to emphasize the straight lines found in the rest of the room... adding more straight lines in the rug would do so by repetition, and circles would accomplish the same but by contrasting against your straight lines instead. Look for a rug with beiges, browns, rusts, golds, and maybe some grey-blue or grey-green just to add some additional interest.
Q: Does artificial fiber carpet contain formaldehyde
The quality of carpets in the market stall are good and evils together, some fiber carpets or loe-price carpets use extensive chemical adhesives in wool carpet weaving. These adhesives containing large amounts of harmful substances such as formaldehyde, benzene, xylene. If we work and live in toxic and harmful environment for a long time, it will cause great harm to people's physical and mental health. Now usually, we will take ventilation or spraying air cleaner. Ventilation is only a temporary solution to the problem, take temporary solution not effect a permanent cure, and most of the office is in the large glass curtain wall, the ventilation effect is relatively poor. The common chemical air cleaner on the market not only can not solve the problem, but also cause second pollution.
Q: PLease help... i havent tried anything yet cuz i dont know if it will ruin the carpet or not.
try steam/hot water.
