- Q: Want to have carpet installed in a 600 sq ft room. We will need new padding and there are stairs. 1. How much will it cost?2. What is the best carpet for cats with claws?
- It depends on what type of carpet that you choose (the quality) and also the area you live in. You can except for a good quality carpet to pay roughly $2-5 a square foot. Installation, you're looking probably $675 for the whole thing, and about another $300 or so for pad. Generally if there's carpet down there already, the installers will re-use the tack strip in place. It depends on the company that you are going through if their prices on the carpet include pad and installation. The place I work at, for example, the prices listed on carpet are material only. Just makes sure that when you are shopping, they are clear as to what the price includes.
- Q: The title says it all? What do i do?!
- pour a small amount of nail polish remover BLOT with an old towel or cloth...DO NOT rub!!! Repeat continue until it's gone. It may leave a slight stain, but this should do the trick
- Q: How do I rug hook I have always wanted to know??!!! What do I need to get started Links PLZ
- Latch okorder for some pictorial advice, and to possibly find supplies and a teacher.
- Q: How to remove the musty smell of carpet
- Spray the dry cleaning spray widespreadly, and then wait a few minutes, patting is ok
- Q: Why did we get rug burn? What is the best remedy and how to avoid from getting rug burns? Why is it called rug burn?
- Rug burn is a friction injury caused by rubbing your skin against an item repeatedly with force. It's called rug burn because it's common to get such an injury while quickly dragging yourself against a carpet or rug, and the injury intially burns.
- Q: Is one of the two supposed to be softer than the other? More durable? Easier to clean? I want a sisal type area rug. I want a casual look that would go with my blend of tradtional and contemporary decor. I do not want a scratchy rug with fibers that quot;stick upquot; like bristles on a brush! I thought the sisal would be softer and more pliant to the touch, but a decorator friend said the jute is what I want.I believe seagrass is the scratchy, bristle-y fiber, and I don't want that. I want a sleek, tailored look.Any suggestions or ideas?
- Sisal rugs tend to be more durable. They are both natural fibers. I believe sisal wool rugs are what you're looking for. Sisal - the strength and durability of natural fibers, Wool - the soft underfoot feel. Sisal wool rugs have the best of both worlds - durable and soft. Jute is also soft, one of the softest natural fiber rugs. I guess the best way to compare the textured feel is to go into a rug shop and feel the difference of the materials.
- Q: Okay, i already have carpet in my house but the thing is...the carpet in the living room is hideous it doesn't match anything that i'm trying to do!! I would love to just rip the carpet up and put a new one down but i'm only renting this house! Anywho, can i put a big enough room sized rug over the carpet...how tacky would that be. I actually think it'll cover the whole carpet, it's pretty big my living room is pretty small! Any suggestions???
- Sure you can, my daughter just did exactly this. She found a rug, that matched all her furnishing, and had a bit of the color of the existing carpet color so it flowed well and it looks really nice. It can take alot of searching. I dont know where you live, in some areas people sell rugs on the side of the road type people or at swap meets, have the best prices and seem to have the most interesting types. IKEA has rugs that are pretty reasonable too if you have one near you. To simply get carpet laid over your carpet can be done, but, pretty much when you move and pull it up the carpet below for some reason gets really damaged this way. Having a huge rug that you can occassionally pull back and vacuum under is better. Happy hunting!!!!!
- Q: We are looking for the best on the market, not the cheapest.
- You shouldn t use a true pad or sorts. The best I ve seen for area rugs in a line called Rug Hold. Its a non skid underlay ment for rugs. Come in a wide variety of sizes and types . The type you need is for rug over hard surface. Now there are some felts that can be added to the backing of a rug but w/o seeing yours its hard to say if you can add it or not. Any padding for carpet will not work properly and actually be a tripping hazard, even a thin 1/4 rubber pad. Any question you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
- Q: I have a high pile cut carpet. When I put a dime on the carpet the carpet is a little over the dime. I just bought a dyson and it seems to fray the edges of the carpet. Im trying to find a vacuum that has great suction but wont ruin my carpet. If you have a short shag Carpet what kind of vacuum do you use?andDoes anyone recomend a vacuum for my kind of carpet?thank you so much!!
- IF the Dyson has a height adjustment, try moving that up. You might be trying to run it on too low a setting and the beater bar is really beating the heck out of the carpet. I have different thicknesses of carpet (shorter in high traffic areas and more plush in other rooms) and I adjust this setting as I go from room to room. If the Dyson doesn't have a height adjustment, then I'd look for a unit that does. I'd try looking at the Bissell Healthy Home. It's 1/2 the price of the Dyson, has very similar filtering technology and has the height adjustment. 5 year warranty too! I've had the Healthy Home for over 2 years now and I really like it. We have a lot of pets (3 dogs and 4 cats) and it does great with the pet hair. And it does get used a lot, especially when everyone four footed is shedding! Right now with spring coming, it's run at least every other day. And one little tip for ya! Uprights don't do bare floors well; it's just the nature of the beast. But Sears sells a generic bare floor brush that will fit right on the pipes or wand on the Bissell so you can do your bare floors much better. It's about $13.
- Q: The floor is pretty beat up in some of the rooms and between having a baby and preparing for a deployment I don't know if we're going to be able to fix it properly in the near future so I want to prevent further damage with rugs and runners.Anyway, I want to put runners and rugs down in the heavy traffic areas. Couple of questions:Do you know of a good store/website that has matching rugs and runners for reasonable prices? Also, we plan to put the runners on stairs ourselves, which are all wood also (they are straight and all the stairs are uniform in size so it shouldn't be a problem ... it's a three-story-house) but we were wondering if we can just buy a runners to do this or do we have to buy special runners specifically made for staircases? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
- I think you should keep your dark wood furniture. It'd be a waste just to buy new things when you already have them. If it just does't look right paint the walls a colour that would make your furniture and floors go good together. Try adding some accessories that match your furniture and floors and keeps the focus of anything that doesn't match. Hope you find your answer!
