Q:I kinda left the sink on while i was taking a shower.. so when i got out my bathroom floor had water everywhere (about an inch of water)i mopped up the mess with towels but i forgot to wipe inside the cabinets (and that what caused the water to soak through according to my mom) now i'm being screamed at every. single. day.on the first floor if you look up, the ceiling pretty much dried up but theres 2 creases popping out. kind of like a loong 3-d v shape since the water soaked through and outlined the cabinets shape.and since my mom loves burdening me soo much, now my parents say that they lost 5 grand in our house's value T____Ti don't know if we're supposed to repair it, paint over it (though u can't rlly paint over it), or w/e.. does anyone know what i should do? don't tell me to call a repair man because my parents want to see their 'options' before they call themThanks.. :)
also go to youtube and look up patching ceiling and walls will help with seeing someone else do it.
Q:Can you play a sound absorbing effect with a grid ceiling?
With a grille ceiling, sealed ceiling (or microporous, such as aluminum microplate, gypsum microplate), to maintain a certain internal space, the deeper the better the internal strength, the air filled with sound-absorbing cotton, Allow, fill about 20 centimeters. Do not fill up. Such as off the micro-porous ceilings, sound-absorbing cotton can be sealed with non-woven (anti-sound-absorbing cotton dust).
Q:Our basement family room has an insulated ceiling but the bedrooms do not. One bedroom is below a bathroom and it gets very loud because of a water waste pipe. We have a storage room that has open access to the ceiling space. It would be about 20ft that we would have to push insulation into. This seems like it would be very hard with traditional roll insulation. It would be very easy to put some lengths of soundboard or xps or something in, but I don't know if it would achieve the desired effect. Thanks in advance.
i think blow in would work.
Q:We had our carpets removed a while ago and installed laminate flooring instead. As a result, the house is not as warm as it used to be.Will it help if I add R13 insulation in the basement ceiling ? Will it keep the living room floor (which is just above the basement) warmer ?On the same manner, will adding another layer of insulation to the attic help in the winter and summer as well ?As for the mositure barrier paper, if I understand correctly, it should be facing up both cases, right ?
Every home and layout is different so it's difficult to give the right answer. Adding insulation to the basement ceiling would help out and would not hurt anything but why is it so much colder in the basement? Yes basements always appear to be cooler but you might want to look into that. Typically in basements very cheap single pane windows are installed, box sills around the primeter should also have insulation in them. For your attic; at a quick glance if you can see the ceiling joists on the floor of the attic you need more insulation. Common fiberglass batts you would find are R-9 up to possibly R-19 for a single layer, you should have at least and R-28, if not add additional. In northern regions new construction they are putting in R-42. If you have a loose fill insulation the rule of the thumb is R-3 per inch of product, just a guideline if manufacture spec's are not available. Vapor barrier always goes towards the warm side; in the attic the barrier would go down or closest to the drywall on the ceiling below. Basement probably isn't has picky but technically would go up against the underside of the floor.
Q:Home want to stick wallpaper, what kind of election is better
Plastic wallpaper: This is currently on the market common wallpaper, the vast surface material used for the polyvinyl chloride (or polyethylene), also known as PVC wallpaper. This kind of wallpaper is divided into many types, each category is divided into several varieties, each species is divided into a variety of colors. Generally use paper as the substrate, plastic PVC paste resin, and then by printing, embossed, usually flat light printing, light printing, monochrome embossing, printing embossing several types. This wallpaper is relatively low price, the use of a wide range, strong and durable, but poor environmental protection.
Q:I'm remodeling a bathroom, and I need to know the best insulation for sound/moisture? Also should I use the regular drywall or the green one on the ceiling?
i have a drop ceiling in my bathroom and use fiberglass plastic coated tiles that give some insulation, are waterproof on the plastic surface and can be (have done this several time) painted after 4/5 years if you so desire or just put new ones in front of the old ones and now the insulation value has doubled. you can keep doing that till they're 3 deep. you can buy them and the tracks that they fit in at home depot. a small bathroom would be less than $100.00 to do. you need to keep in mind when doing those ceilings, always find the MIDDLE of the two connecting walls then measure 12 inches on both sides from the middle. that's where you put the runners. NOT IN THE MIDDLE. now the room is divided equally from the two middles. if you don't then one side will be larger than the other. it may not make sense to you, but believe me it's true. there's not a room in my house that i don't have this system. if you ever get a water leak you just clean up the tile or replace it. use a 2x2 system not a 2 x 4. all the tile comes 2 x 4 (actually a little less) find the exact middle and then cut them in half. not a days work involved. putting up the track is more than 1/2 the job. it must be level all the way around and from side to side some of my ceilings i actually have rolled r-19 insulation on top of those tiles. remember armstrong esprite plastic coated tiles NOT CARDBOARD once the cardboard gets wet it needs to be replaced. i'm not sure but i believe i've had this system in the bathroom for about 20 years now, and other parts of the house for over 30 years, you can paint them or buy new ones and replace them. sometimes that's the wiser thing to do. hope that helps you. greenwall is always better for the bathroom.
Q:The role of magnesium chloride?
The use of magnesium chloride ????1, in the chemical industry is an important inorganic raw materials for the production of magnesium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium oxide and other magnesium products, but also for the antifreeze and other raw materials. ????2, in the metallurgical industry for the production of metal magnesium, liquid chlorine and high purity magnesia and so on. ????3, in the building materials industry is the production of light building materials such as fiberglass, decorative panels, sanitary ware, ceilings, floor tiles, magnesium oxide cement, ventilation pipes, anti-theft covers, fire doors and windows, fire board, partition board, production of artificial marble High - rise building materials important raw materials. In the magnesite products can do high-quality magnesium tile, high-quality fire board, magnesium box, magnesium decoration plate, light wall panels, abrasive, stoves, fireworks and other additives. ????4, in other areas can do food additives, protein coagulant, snow melting agent, refrigerant, dust, refractories and so on. With the brine (magnesium chloride aqueous solution) point of the tofu than the stone point of the tofu, soft and delicious fresh ????5. Metallurgical industry: for the manufacture of refractory materials and puzzle arm of the adhesive, and is the manufacture of flux and smelting metal magnesium raw materials. ????6. Machinery industry: life, with lime soil can be made of mechanical crates, triangular mats and furniture, etc., is "soil material" good material. ????7. Transportation industry: for the road ice melting agent, ice fast, less corrosive to the vehicle, higher than the effect of sodium chloride. The ????8. Medicine: made of magnesium chloride "halogen dry" can be used for medicinal purposes. ????9. Agriculture: available for magnesium fertilizer, potassium and magnesium fertilizer and cotton defoliants.
Q:I am redoing my basement and am wondeirng what is the best way to insulate the basement ceiling, mainly to cut down on noise. My house is fairly old and the hardwood floors we have upstairs creak very loudly when you walk on them, and can be heard through the basement. Would fiberglass insulation work to cut down on footstep noise? If i put two layers in the ceiling would that be better? Or if I carpet upstairs would that muffle the sound?
you need to address the problem at it's source. Installing insulation will be marginal at best as the sound waves will still travel down the joists away from the source of the squeaking. Installing pad and carpet will help upstairs to some degree, but not below. Try to identify the exact, or as close as possible, locations of the squeaking floor boards. Take some long shims ( 12 or so ), coat both sides with adhesive and gently drive them between the flooring and the joists until they are snug. Repeat as necessary. Allow to cure overnight and retest for squeaks. If any areas remain, check to be sure there is not another source of the squeaking such as bridging being loose, straps for plumbing or ductwork being loose or a cracked joist.
Q:Do the glass fiber composite material be bad for the human body?
Centrifugal glass wool internal fiber fluffy staggered, there are a large number of tiny pores, is a typical porous sound-absorbing material, with good sound absorption characteristics. Centrifugal glass wool can be made of wall panels, ceilings, space sound absorbers, etc., can absorb a lot of room sound energy, reduce reverberation time, reduce indoor noise.
