Q: I had a stucco like substance on my bathroom ceiling that was peeling and falling off. I scraped it all off and found a layer of pink paint beneath the stucco that also was peeling in many spots. Underneat the paint is plaster that has some spots. I have an exhaust ceiling fan in the bathroom but don't think it works terribly well. I am considering scraping the remaining paint off then filling in uneven spots and corners with spackling compound then painting over the whole thing again but I am concerned that the spackle will not adhere well in the spotted areas. Does anyone have any recommendations?
You can purchase mold killing paint in a number of hardware stores. Go ahead and scrape off the remaining paint, then paint it with the mold killing primer (Kilz), then paint normally. As for the patching: Spray the affected areas with a mildewicide, and then spackle. Paint with mold killing primer, and paint as normal. You might think about replacing the fan as well.
Q: while checking wiring in ceiling fixtures, some fiberglass fell. I vacuumed it up. how dangerous is it? we have kids here and nothing was covered as we didn't expect that.
it is there to keep the cold air from the attic out of the house and to keep the heat from the light from getting to flammables in the attic
Q: we have numerous recessed light fixtures in our ceiling. Is fiberglass insulation flammable?
The fiberglass or the paper may contact the light housing without any risk of fire, the housing is designed to shield the insulation from the heat. You could even put blown-in insulation next to it.
Q: Bought a house about a year ago, and the basement ceiling is stuffed with fiberglass insulation. It's warm in the basement, especially the room where the furnace is, but we hardly ever use it.I'm wondering if all that insulation is trapping the heat the furnace gives off while it runs, preventing it from rising upstairs? Would it be worth removing it myself or just let it all stay in the ceiling? If you recommend removal what's the best way to dispose of it?Thanks!
I recommend leaving it. The warmth you feel is coming from air leaks in the ducts and from the furnace itself. The insulation works as a sound deadener as well as an air infiltration barrier. I insulated my basement ceiling for the above reasons, and it worked out well for me. The air temp in the room above stays more uniform, and the furnace cycles on and off less often. At night, I keep the door to the furnace room open, so that little bit of extra warm air filters out.
Q: What are the commonly used materials for store decoration? Can you talk about their construction process? Thank you
Looking for decoration company, decoration company package design, packaging repair, save trouble
Q: What products does building materials include?
Such as cement mortar board tile stone there are many auxiliary decoration materials
Q: What are the characteristics of the use of fiberglass ceilings?
I have a voice, because my home is the Jiangsu Sanxian Architectural Acoustics System Co., Ltd. production of fiberglass ceiling
Q: What is the difference between PVC and nylon?
First, PVC: chemical name PVC, sub-rigid polyvinyl chloride and soft polyvinyl chloride. High mechanical strength, chemical properties of vinyl chloride (code-named PVC) is a vinyl chloride monomer polymerization from the synthetic polymer. Polyvinyl chloride is a white or light yellow powder resin, the density of about 1.4, chlorine content of 56% to 58%. In the polyvinyl chloride resin by adding different plasticizers and stabilizers, can be made of different rigid polyvinyl chloride and soft polyvinyl chloride. Polyvinyl chloride itself is a linear polymer, because the attraction between the molecules is very large, combined with each other close and solid, making the polymer chain is not free, so hard texture. When the resin is not added or less (10% or less) plasticizer, get the hard PVC. Hard PVC high density, with acid, alkali and corrosion resistance of the excellent performance, it is often used as chemical equipment, pipe and construction panels, such as flooring, ceiling and so on. When adding more plasticizer in the resin, you can get soft polyvinyl chloride, plasticizer plus more, the more flexible the plastic. Soft PVC with flexibility, resistance to folding, light, water, oxidation resistance, it is often used to make thin film and wire foreskin and so on. Most of the PVC products in daily life are soft polyvinyl chloride, such as PVC made of leather widely used in clothing, footwear, suitcases, purses and so on. If you add a blowing agent to the polyvinyl chloride plastic, you can make the foam. It has a light weight, thermal insulation, noise and other excellent performance, widely used in footwear, building materials, ship and aircraft manufacturing and other industries.
Q: Again, none of the pink fiberglass lining actually touched me, so maybe since there was an air circulatory system on low, maybe some of the fiberglass dust from it is irritating me?
It's is not like catching the flu. You need to be directly exposed and exposed for a long time. If you were you'd know it by now. That little tickle or scratchiness could be from anything but is highly unlikely to be from the fiberglass. I can understand your concern because I've just gotten some on my skin and wouldn't want that in my lungs But relax you're fine. If you feel the need to go back and you want, wear a mask. Even those cheap paper surgical masks would be fine. God bless.
Q: which of the following insulating materials that are used in roofs ( foil, fibreglass batts, seaweed) work by trapping a layer of air in them??
220mm of fibreglass insulation is best for roof space insulation. make sure to cover entire roof space any gaps around Eaves will cause condensation.
