- Q: you know the little rugs that kind of curve around the base of your toilet and a little in front?i left it outside and it stormed overnight and it blew off of the deck into some nastiness on the ground and its all soaking wet.can i just throw it in the washer? i don't want to ruin the stuff on the underside, like have it all fall off you know?haha i hope you understand what i'm talking about:/ thanks=)
- I also put mine on the delicate cycle because heavy agitation seems to degenerate the rubber backing faster.
- Q: My rug has been shedding and I have vacuumed it 100's of times and steam cleaned it. Is there anything I can do to stop the shedding? It is positively driving me CRAZY!! Any suggestions PLEASE
- sounds like a bad buy have you tried taking it outside and combing it with a fine comb? Then follow up with a hoover. If this doesn't work......
- Q: I have a shag rug in my room. It's right infront of my mirror where I brush my hair, so now there is always hair caught in the shags of the rug. Also, dog hair gets caught in it from my dog. Vacumming doesn't get the hair out.How do you clean a shag rug? I need to get the hair out of it!Help!
- I suggest...brushing it/raking it. Sounds weird but back in the 70's when shag rug was in, raking was introduced to the carpets. If you rake it, it combs the direction of the carpet, but also pulls materials in from deep within the carpet. If this doesn't work...try a lint brush with teeth. Not a roller that picks up sticky stuff.
- Q: My carpets are heavyly stained, i have shampooed them using bleach, but the resalt i want is to bleach them as close to white, or clean i can get . Ihave to small children in the house to think about too! Any suggestions on how to clean the carpet myself, within a day would be great!
- I would be very leary of using bleach on carpet. First of all, most carpet has manmade fiber ( nylon or polypropelene, for example) which will melt if bleach hits it. Second, the padding underneath is generally a recycled material that wil disintegrate when the bleach hits it. Third, carpet fiber is held together with a stiff substance that looks a lot like burlap to which the carpet fiber is looped and glued. Bleach will cause the glue to release its adherence over time. Now if your carpet is Olefin, it can take bleach without any of these consequences occurring. But in the final anaylsis, you have small children and bleach is caustic. I would be afraid of having bleach sink down into the padding and having it walk back up to the surface where it could harm or worse yet, poision your children. If you are looking to both brighten the carpet and remove the stains there are many cleaners you can use in a rental steam machine that will do the job, but won't whiten the carpet. You can even use oxyclean diluted in the machine or straight to remove the stains as a pre-spotter. Capture, Resolve, Nature's Miracle and Tech all make heavy duty cleaners that can be loaded into a steam cleaner. Folex found at home depot can brighten and remove most stains with little effort, too.
- Q: i got probably the worst rug burn ever! it broke the skin in two main places. i bled a bit and it stayed red for hours its two days later and my skin around my eye (where i got it) is turning this really sick shade of brownish green. my dad said it'll turn into a bruse and go away after about a week and a half. please dont tell me this is true because i have my senoir pictures to take and i already made the appointment. i made the date for next wensday.
- Oh i do know plenty approximately rug burns. Have you attempted specific positions? There is that this one who I like, the lady is going through the wall fairly bent over with the fellow doing her from in the back of. If she does love it on her knees she will do what i did, purchase a gentle silk thick blanket that wont harm the knees. I discovered a fine one at Bed, Bath and Beyond.
- Q: is there any good solution to the lots of dust on the carpet?
- Put a few more water to make the air is moist.
- Q: We are doing a production of Anything Goes, and the script calls for a chair rug. I've done a little bit of research, and it seems to be a thick towel that you would put underneath you to protect from bugs and the slats of the chair. Can anyone give me a little bit more to go on, or better yet, tell me where I can find one?
- It could also be another name for a throw and be a rug that goes over the top of a chair to hide the fact its all tatty underneath or something?
- Q: my carpets are very dirty.
- Professional cleaners have better equipment and will do a little better job (generally). If you do it yourself, you will save a lot of money, and it will be just about as good as a professional if you follow the directions. You might try doing it yourself, and if it is still dirty, hire a professional.
- Q: what is the difference between steam cleaninig and deep cleaning? I don't think we have very dirty carpet but it was always suggested by our carpet cleaner (by the way - I hate how they always upsell their services). anyways - I want to have another carpet cleaning soon in the spring and would like to be more educated about this.Bottom line is - if 'steaming cleaning' does not clean... why bother having such service in the first place?
- Steam cleaning is a proven system and the best i think. Up selling is a known and just don't buy.Know what you want and stick to it. Make sure you get a reputable and that means an established company or reputation to be safe.
- Q: SO my dog had bad diaheria and made a nasty nasty mess on the carpet in a few spots and it was just aweful so only thing i had was oxi clean so put oxiclean on the spots which were very large spots and now its super white in those spots which is better then poo but looks crazy... what can I do to make it look not as noticable? Only thing i could think of is get oxiclean and add it to water and steam clean the whole carpet and maybe it wont be as bad but that would take TON of oxiclean does anyone have any ideas?
