Just pulls off when you are done. It's about $11 a roll and they have it at Lowe's and Home Depot. If that is too expensive, then get plastic painters' drop cloths. They are clear, don't get ones that are too thin, and just tape the sides to the baseboards with painters' tape. Not very attractive but will save the carpet. They are really huge and can do a whole room.

Q:How would you carpet your walls?: Almost regardless of where you live, whether renting or owning, you should keep in mind the ability to reverse this change. My recommendation is to mount the carpet to 1/4 plywood and then mount the plywood in sections to the walls with wood screws and dress washers. (a cosmetic washer that is more appealing to the eye.) Brass would be a nice touch. Use wall anchors (plastic will be fine) if installing over drywall. 1/4 plywood is affordable (underlayment will work) and this is quickly removable and by spackling the holes, completely reversable. The carpent can be stapled to the plywood and if not glued, even the plywood can someday be reused, if....you change your mind.

Secondly, if you use a rug without the rubber backing do you have to use a pad so it doesn't slide and scratch the floor?Thanks: you can go to any home improvement store and get that rubber gripping to put on the back of any rug...its not a solid piece but is more like netting...its quite dangerous to not have any rubber backing on the back of a rug on a hardwood or tile floor as they will slide...we use the rubber backing on the giant floor rug in our living room as well as at our front door...our wood floors are fine..
