Q: I am looking for a recipe that I can put in a spray bottle. A lot of the homemade concoctions I'm finding are ones that require dumping and rubbing into the stain, which I don't want to do as I have hardwood underneath and I've already overwashed my carpets from when my dogs were puppies. A lot of the store bought cleaners have discolored my carpets. I would like a solution I can spray on and blot up. Thanks: Homemade carpet cleaner recipe: 1. Pour 91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol into an empty, never-used spritzer bottle. 2. You're done. I've cleaned many carpet spots with nothing but isopropyl alcohol. Spray it on, gently scrub, and blot with paper towels or a clean piece of terry cloth. Unlike vinegar and ammonia, isopropyl alcohol doesn't seem to entice dogs to pee on the spot. You can buy 91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol at just about any drug store in the country.

Q: hey just wondering is there any big difference between a rug with leg straps and a rug with a tail chord?: not really any big difference. Only that rugs or blankets with tail chords have one chord running behind the horse while rugs with leg straps go in between the horse's legs. Rugs with tail chords would be better for a horse who is stall kept who doesn't move around as much. The tail chord isn't the best for keeping a rug in place, especially when the horse is running around. Some owners don't like to use them because their horse developed a habit of using the chord to rub their tail Rugs with leg straps keep the rug in place and keep it straighter when the horse is moving around. I have done it with a high pile carpet by cutting a small slit and injecting glue beneath the carpet and then put weight on it for a while. If it is a low pile carpet you might have a hard time hiding your incision. Maybe if you can get a syringe type injector (meat injector) you can make a small enough hole that's not visible.

Q: A large area of tea stains on the carpet how?? For a long time: Use a little vinegar or fresh lemon juice drops in the carpet stains, use a soft brush to brush, then use the carpet special foam detergent wash. The area is too big to come up several times. If it is an ordinary chemical fiber carpet, this operation is not a problem, if it is a silk or wool carpet

Q: I understand that my knee-skin was torn/burnt in one direction or another all at once...but why does it hurt so bad?: The reason rug burns hurt so much is becaue you are only scraping the top layer of skin off. That exposes all the nerves under the top layer of skin. These nerves are usually covered so they are sensitive.

Q: So I have this cheap $20 rug from walmart thats teal. I did away with it for a while but now that I want my room redone, I want a black rug to go in front of a futon. How would I go about dyeing this rug instead of buying a new one and leaving this one to collect dust? It has a plastic wired bottom to hold the rug together and to act slip resistant. Would dyeing it affect it?: Whether dyeing would work depends on what fibre it's made of. If it's wool or cotton, it would dye quite well with ordinary dyes, though it might present a few difficulties since dyes usually call for being heated, and a lot of rinsing after. If it's a synthetic fibre, which it very likely is, it might not dye at all because synthetics don't absorb dye very well, if at all. If they do, they usually require processes that would be very difficult to achieve with a rug, such as heating the dye bath with the item in it. All in all, it's probably not worth even trying. Find a cheap black rug to buy.

Q: Whats all this nonsense i hear about shampooing carpets and such? can you really do that? and like, how? hah sorry apparently my friends mom was doing it to her carpet yesterday and i am bored and thinking about doing it to my carpet but i need to know how first :D: People call them carpet shampooers but they are actually carpet steam cleaners. Real carpet shampooers can cost over $1000, while most basic carpet steamers cost under $200. You can rent a Rug Doctor (or a similar brand) carpet steamer from home improvement stores (Ace, Lowe's, Home Depot, even some grocery stores) for about $20. The most important factor when steaming your carpet: steam-clean it only once. You may be tempted to steam-clean it numerous times, since you've rented the machine, but if you do this the carpet pad and the floor will remain wet and your carpet will smell moldy and musty. I own a Bissell Proheat 2X carpet steamer and I steam my carpets every 2 weeks, but then I have cats and a dog. When you rent a Rug Doctor, you can also buy the shampoo and other treatments at the same time. Or you can go to the carpet-steamer aisle and pick out your own favorite smell of liquid carpet cleaner. Or, if you are very careful, you can use a small amount of laundry detergent instead. Too much detergent, and it will remain in your carpet and actually attract dirt.
