Q:cats knocked oil lamp on carpet, contents spilled
Since you have a cat, why don't you try Cat Litter? It is absorbent and can't make it worse. I have no clue if that will work, but I have seen it used for oil spills on roads and such. -maria

Q:What is non-woven fabric? What is called a needle rug?
Nonwoven textile breakthrough the traditional principle, and has a short process, high speed, high output, low cost, wide application, multiple sources of raw materials, its main use can be divided into: (1) health cloth: surgical clothing, protective clothing, masks, disinfection cloth diapers, women's sanitary napkins; (2) the family decoration cloth: with Qiangbu, tablecloth, bed sheet, bedspread and so on; (3) loaded with cloth lining, lining, interlining, setting cotton, various synthetic leather base cloth; (4) industrial fabrics: filter materials, insulation materials, cement packing bag, soil cloth, coated cloth etc.; (5) agricultural crop protection cloth: cloth, cloth, cloth, seedling irrigation insulation curtain; (6) other: Space cotton, insulation materials, linoleum, cigarette filter, tea bags.
Q:It has dried on the carpet
you can buy a tar remover from any janitorial supply store. this easily removes tar but I would rent a steam machine to clean the carpet and work on the stain or just call a cleaning company to come in and do this for you.
Q:Alright.. so i need to kill fleas that MAY be in my carpet. I havn't seen any hop on me but my kitten has got fleas. I have a 12 month old son also.. that crawls on the carpet and puts anything in sight in his mouth, including his hands that obviously touch the carpet. I am sure SOMEONE has had this conundrum at some point... I am hoping some one can help me with this. What i have done so far, i've washed my precious with baby shampoo and combed the rest out... and so far i haven't seen her itch or any live fleas (she's white so they are evident) but i am sure they have gotten in my carpet in my living room. anything NATURAL or CHEMICAL that is toxic for my cat or baby is out of the question.. thanks for reading. i hope you can help!! :)

Q:We are in the process of evaluating the replacement of carpeting on the top deck of our houseboat. The area is 560 sq. ft. and is glued down. The present carpet suffers from sun rot. 1. In the process of replacement, will we need to strip the old carpet from the surface of the fiberglass? a. What chemical would release the old glu without damage to the Fiberglass. b. Can a product be overlayed on the present surface? What kind of adhesive would we use? c. Scraping the glass surface could scar the surface. 2. Replacementa. What type of fabric would you recommend? b. What adhesive could we use to insure edges and corners will stay down? c. Exposure to the intense sun is six months per year (Lake Powell Utah). The boat is docked in a covered slip most of the time, receiving only partial weather.

Q:I have a puppy that is a year old and she still isn't fully potty trained(shes a lot better than she used to be, but still has accidents) plus i have a toddler and normally have many other children here- leaving spills and stains. So for the past year I have used my carpet shampooer A LOT but am now concerned that it may have mold under it or in the padding. my mother keeps telling me they aren't a good thing to use and they will create mold. So I am wondering if it would be moldy and if so how I can get rid of the mold? Thanks!:)
Carpet shampooers do thoroughly soak your carpet, but they are also designed to pull the liquid quickly back out so it does not remain in the carpet. The cleaning works the same way that the river smooths stones - friction and water. Mold requires a long breeding time, contaminants, and a warm, damp environment. One way to get mold in the carpet is to leave a wet spot for a long time. This could simply mean that the puppy managed to get away with one accident that you didn't see, and when you finally trod across that area, it was already soaked down to the padding and so, never got cleaned up. Another possibility is that your carpet shampooer MIGHT be malfunctioning, and not pulling the water back out fast enough. This would be very easy to determine, as the carpet would be very wet when you finish. If it's damp, but not soaked, then the carpet shampooer is probably not to blame for the problem. There is a possibility that you have another problem, such as a busted pipe or something that could be affecting it. If you can't determine the source, you can pull the carpet off of the tacks, and check to see if you have mold.
Q:so in my room i have a carpet which my mother told me that when our apartment was built they sticked the carpet with a special glue... under the carpet there are tiles..... but the glue is stuck to the tiles and i pulled the carpet to see whats happening under it because i really want to remove it because its unhealthy.... and i poored hot water and chlorine on and i took a knife to scratch it and the tiles wallpaper (however the call that thing) disappears and all i see its something black... what is that and what can i do now???? i already ripped a lot my carpet... any suggestions? what is that black thing??? is it the cement of the tiles?
First you do not need to put chlorine in with the water. The black paper ( is that what it looks like?) could just be something that was used to even out the floor's surface. Forget the knives and scratching! Adhesives ( glues) are sometimes soluble with water.. Sometimes with heat - you heat the glue moderately with perhaps a steam iron or a hair dryer, the glue will loosen enough to pry back the carpet. Otherwise- and this is totally out of range of my experience- solvents are sometimes used. I would not recommend using any kind of flammable solvent. Instead of knives find a wide putty knife to help lift the carpet off the tiles, this will get a larger area up off the tiles and will not scrape or gouge the tiles nor is it likely to slip and cut you. And you can get one for a few dollars. Work a little at a time- maybe it will take you a day or two- and wear safety glasses when you pull up the carpet because it is easy to get a small carpet fiber into your eye and it is a pain to get it out!
Q:My cat is 2 1/2 yrs old and I've had him since he was 6 months old. Within this past couple of months he started pooping for some reason on one of my kitchen rugs. I've tried everything to correct this. I've used Nature's Miracle, Vinegar, other pet odor removers, put food in the spot so he would avoid the area, and not only changed litters but changed to scoopable. NOTHING has helped!! At first changing the litters seem to help and I scooped it out every couple of days. My only other choice is to scoop it out every day and/or put him in a cage for a week all day long with his own litter to try and break the habit. Other than that I feel I've run out of options! HELP...I'm at my wits end!!!
My cat poo's on my Kitchen rug too. Just this morning I had to clean up a pile and prepare the rug to wash it again! It's very annoying. The only way I can get him to stop is to make sure that kitty litter box is scooped out atleast twice a day. The days I forget.. then I know I am going to find a pile of poo on that rug. Some cats are just extremely picky about their kitty litter boxes. Maybe try a bigger kitty litter box or if you have the money, get one of those self cleaning ones. Try getting two litter boxes. I do notice that the kitty litter does matter too. When I'm running low on cash I get the dollar store brand. That brand I have to keep super clean but when I get one with the masking order dealy he uses it a little bit more before he decides the floor is his only option. Also I tried removing that one rug and he started using my daughters bed room and my closet which was horrible. So I would suggest dealing with the litter box before trying any potty repellent stuff cause I am sure the cat will just start going some where else in your house.
Q:I have a 1 yr old Male, fixed, cat. He's never given me ANY problems. except lately he's been urinating on the bathroom rug.. Well, it sounds worse than it really is.. he did it once, then I washed the rug.. it was clean for a day.. then he peed on it once again. There are NO other cats in the house, the litter box IS in the bathroom. I can not scold him or correct the behavior because of the amount of time lapsed when he's gone on the rug. So he wouldn't know what he's being corrected for ( I was in Dog training) This is his only vice. :( Please help!
hmm is it a rug around the toliet? if you have males in the house who miss their intended target it could be the cat pickin up on that scent and marking thinking there is another cat around.
