- Q:We are replacing an older style submersible 3 wire well pump with a newer style 3 wire plus ground. I do not know where to ground the green wire? Is it necessary to extend the wire from the pump all the way to the top and ground it there or can i just ground it to the pump itself? Any ideas? First time home owner... trying to save money and not call an electrician (Im an avionics technician so I have some what of an idea what im doing.) Thanks
- It shouldn't be grounded to back to the pump, it should be brought out and grounded either with the house or a separate grounding rod.
- Q:Two current-carrying wires are lying right on top of each (at a right angle) other, with currents flowing in the wires in the directions pointing up for the vertical wire and to the right for the horizontal wire. The horizontal wire is fixed and does not move. What happens to the vertical wire?Choices:It moves out of the pageIt rotates clockwiseIt rotates counter-clockwiseIt moves to the leftIt moves to the rightIt moves into the page
- The vertical wire rotates (clockwise ?) Draw the situation where you are looking directly at the 'end' or the horizontal wire with the current coming towards you .. the magnetic field from this current is a set of concentric circles with counter- clockwise direction (using the screw-cap rule.. turn counter-clockwise to move cap towards you as it loosens). Now place the vertical wire in this field (close to horizontal wire) and apply Fleming's left-hand motor rule to find the direction of force/motion for the upward current. Above the horiz wire .. Field (first finger) points left, Current upwards (second finger), Motion/force (thumb) direction is towards you. Below the horiz wire .. Field right, Current upwards, Motion/force (thumb) direction is away from you. Seen from the side this gives the vertical wire a rotation in the vertical plane .. which way depends on which side you view it from. ('conventional' viewing would give a clockwise rotation)
- Q:I think I have heard about flat cable wires?maybe even flat electrical wires.where you can hide them behind a base board.is this true?what are they called/thx
- flat co-ax cable would be an oxymoron, however there is flat twinlead. U need to know that twinlead is more likely to have interference problems though. electrical cable usually has 3 conductors so it is naturally kind of oval shaped people typically hide these behind baseboard or in the space below the baseboard if they have wall to wall
- Q:Just bought a new amp for my truck. The speaker outputs needs to be indiviually wired to the door speakers. Do you splice into the speaker wire or the trucks harness?
- ideally you want to wire directly from the amp to the door speakers with new speaker wire but doing this properly requires removing some of the trimming and passing the new wires throughout the car. you can also take the easier route and pass the wires from your amp up under the steering wheel behind the center console and splice them into the existing wires going to the door speakers. as long as the wattage isn't very high the latter shouldn't be a problem. however, if it were up to me i would use new wires and pass them throughout the car, removing the trimmings, etc. this can be somewhat of a pain to do if you have never done it before though.
- Q:i need to know what wire goes where
- The red and black are your hot wires, the white is neutral, and the green is equipment ground. Look at your dryer and it should have a wiring diagram to tell you which of the wires are the hots and neutral and what colors they are. The 4 wire plugs are required now by the NEC (National Electric Code)
- Q:Does anyone have a schematic?
- on the wires it should tell you want the wires are four you should have a red wire black wire.the red is live wire and the back wire is earth wire.and the four you got left is speaker wires
- Q:would the wiring harness on a 1.8 acura integra engine fit a 1.6 honda civic harness?
- No, but there are adapters you can get to make the engine wiring harness from an acura engine fit a Honda wiring harness. It plugs in at the fire wall. They are a specialty kit and are expensive though (Painless wiring harness). That is if you are trying to put an Acure engine in a Honda. If you are just trying to get a new wiring harness for the Honda go to a junk yard and get one off of a similar Honda.
- Q:i have a 3mm diameter wire that has only a single thick conductor and it's really really hard?how do i know if it is a magnetic wire or not?are thick magnetic wires hard or soft to be wrapped?are there other types of wire that have a single conductor thick conductor?note: single thick conductorgt;gt; i mean they are not thin parallel collected wires like usual
- All okorder /
- Q:When you electromagnetize a nail with wire coiled around it, then connect it to a small battery, how come it works when the wire has been been insulated,..... and what if you were to use uninsulated wire.
- The insulation around the wire prevents the flow of current between wires, (shorting out the coil). It has no effect on the magnetic field created by the flow of current in the wires. If you tried uninsulated wire, you wouldn't have much of a field, as the current path would be short, direct from one end of the coil to the other with no 'turns` at all.
- Q:I got molds done a while back for my finishing wires on my braces. I'm getting them Tuesday, but I'm not really sure what the difference is between finishing wires and the wires I have now. So I'd be delighted if someone could explain:) Also, after you get finishing wires, about how much longer is it until you get your braces off? And, would you recommend the wire retainers, or the clear ones? Why? Thanks in advance!
- Finishing wires are for the final stage of braces. They are pretty strong wires that snap tightly into your brackets so the orthodontist can finely control the teeth and line everything up nicely. I can't say how long until you get your braces off...that's kind of a case by case basis. Typically the wire retainers are better than the clear ones from a hygiene perspective. They can also be adjusted unlike the plastic ones.
