- Q: Source 115V 20A breakerI have 12/2 wire and want to wire this:GFCI 15A receptacle -to- 15A receptacle -to- 15A receptacleI have basic wiring skills, just need reassurance. Thanks.
- Make sure the ground in the panel is connected properly. wire first to the gfi - then feed through - check the directions on the gfi - usually the feed through terminals are covered with a yellow warning tape.
- Q: A street lamp weighs 200 N. It is supported by two wires that form an angle of 130° with each other. The tensions in the wires are equal. What is the tension in each wire supporting the street lamp?If the angle between the wires supporting the street lamp is reduced to 100°, what is the tension in each wire?
- Problem 1: If the tension in the two wires are equal, the angle they make with the horizontal must also be equal. Always remember that a horizontal line is a straight angle; hence, it has a measurement of 180°. Let's look for the angle the wires make with the horizontal. 130 + x + x = 180 130 + 2x = 180 2x = 180 - 130 2x = 50 (Divide both sides by 2) x = 25° Each wire makes a 25° angle with the horizontal. We can now find the tension. The mass must be divided by 2. Using trigonometry, let's find the tension force. The divided weight of the lamp shall be the opposite side, and the tension force shall be the hypotenuse. sin 25° = (200 / 2) / Ftens Ftens = 100 / sin 25° Ftens = 236.62 N (Answer) The tension is 236.62 N in each wire. Problem 2: We use the same approach. 100 + x + x = 180 100 + 2x = 180 2x = 180 - 100 2x = 80 (Divide both sides by 2) x = 40° Each wire makes a 40° angle with the horizontal. Calculate the tension force. sin 40° = (200 / 2) / Ftens Ftens = 100 / sin 40° Ftens = 155.57 N (Answer) The tension is 155.57 N in each wire. Hope this helps!
- Q: Why do two parallel wires carrying currents in opposite directions repel each other?
- since both the current carrying wires produce magnetic fields in the same direction which can be found out by using Flemming's right hand thumb rule the two wires repel.
- Q: Does anybody know of a How to Guide... or a tutorial or something to help me wire a Telecaster for a project? I'm pretty new at this and I want to make sense of the wiring diagrams I've found and make sure I don't screw anything up, thank you.
- And it is hundreds of similar resources, which may indicate you haven't really used the search engines. Just enter search terms like: telecaster wiring, guitar wiring, guitar schematics, guitar wiring diagrams and so on.
- Q: 2 wires and ground to oven with 3 wires and ground
- Regarding the cooktop: It has NO 120 v component, no timer, electronic controls, etc. Again it has a red, black, and bare ground in the whip. I have also looked around at a number of models like this and none requires anything more than 40 amp circuit and 8 gauge wire. Regarding the double oven: It has some 120 V components, a timer, electronic controls, and lights (it is a pretty modern system). I also downloaded the manual for this model from Maytag's site and it indicates that 8-gauge wire should be used, but the drawings only indicate a 4-wire whip. I triple-checked again tonight and I can only find the 3 wires - red, black, and white. I couldn't pull the ovens out as we were working on the floors. I can do that later. So I am wondering what to do. I can try to call Maytag and see if someone can help me. However, the manual has confused me - perhaps it is for a more recent version of this particular model double oven. Then manual also says If codes permit and a separate ground wire is used, it is recommended that a qualified electrical installer determine that the ground path and the wire gauge are in accordance with local codes. Check with a qualified electrical installer if you are not sure the oven is properly grounded. This oven must be connected to a grounded metal, permanent wiring system. Manual also says 40 am service - 8 gauge wire required.
- Q: other than soldering and using a T-tap (wire tap), what are other common ways of connecting two wires together? Also, what does the following video say at the 1 minute 10 second mark? It's a something-set that helps to attach wires.
- a wire nut or electrical tape
- Q: I got the Rem wire down connected it to cd deck. But what does Rem stand for and what does it do?Remote Wire? what the hell it do where it run off?
- The blue and white wire on the back of car stereos is not a remote wire, it is the antenna wire for power antennas. Which does not require 12 volts to power on the antenna motor. The remote wire is the same thing as the REM wire, REM is short for remote. This wire is used to send a 12 volt signal to external amplifiers to turn them on when the stereo is turned on.
- Q: have a kenmore dryer with 3 wires now had it will not dry need info on wiring it so it will dry
- Yea a little more info not drying check the vent for lint clogged or you heating element burnt out take dryer hose of back and see if hot air comes after you run it for 2-3 min here is 3 wirer dryer hook up
- Q: i've got a GOTOH humbucker pick up and its only got a white and a bare wire. can someone tell me how to wire it or how it works. i'm making my own guitar and i need help with the wiring.
- The bare wire is usually ground. Solder that to the ground wire that you should have wired to the bridge, and also to the sleeve connection on the output jack. The insulated wire carries the signal. Depending on the configuration you are running, whether it be a single pickup, two pickups, and global controls or dedicated controls, this can go in different places. Let's say, hypothetically, that you are using a single pickup. Then, the signal wire would go straight to the Volume pot. The tone pot would be an offshoot of the volume, which tapers the high end. There are multiple ways to wire a tone pot, should you install one, and the wiper of the volume pot goes to the tip connection of the output jack. For more information, look at some pickup wiring guides. Seymour Duncan has a lot of good ones, if you go on their site and search.
- Q: I'm trying to install a ceiling fan and I'm looking for some help given my home's wiring. I have a single light switch in the room, and here's what's coming out of the ceiling: 2 white wires, 2 black wires and a ground wire. It seems like a set of white and black originate from the same location (in both cases). My celing fan with light has a remote connection, so there's one black, one white and one ground wire coming from my fan to connect to the ceiling. Can someone let me know how to hook it up so the fan and light both work? Thanks in advance.
- I hope you made notes of which wires were attached to the light you took down. Just wire the fan/light assembly in place of the light. One set of those wires is from the switch, the other is from power. You forgot to do that? OK, here's what I would do in this case. Get your self a 'Volt Stick'. This is a small probe that looks like a carpenters pencil that lights up when it is placed next to an energized wire. Best $20.00 you'll spend if your planning on doing anything with electrical wiring. Disconnect and spread the wires apart from each other. Use the Voltstick to find out which of the wires coming from the ceiling is 'hot' (supplying power to the light). Mark this wire and turn off the breaker. This should be paired with one of the white wires, mark that one as well. This is your return wire. The other two should be to the switch. Test this by hooking the black source wire to the white switch wire. Now turn the breaker on. If the breaker doesn't kick out right away then you can check (using the Voltstick) if there is any power to the second black wire. Turn the switch to the next position and see if there is a change. There should have been. This proves that the power going to the switch is interupted when the switch is thrown. Any other result means that your place is wired weird and you may need the help of a professional. So to hook up your fan/light, you are going to attach the black source wire to the black switch wire, the white source wire to your white fan wire, the white switch wire to your black fan wire, and the green wire to your green fan wire.
