Q:hi i was wondering if its possible to electrify chicken wire? i have chickens in some fields and they keep wondering and chicken wire is alot cheaper than buying proper electric fencing??: You can electrify it but you have to make sure it is insulated at every point that it touches a fence post or the ground. If it is not insulated at all points it will short out to the ground and will not be very effective. That is the reason you should use regular electric fence supplies. Some of the electric fence wire that i have seen is almost like a rope with metal fibers in it to conduct the electricity. I cant imagine that it would cost as much as chicken wire.

Q:I m wondering if there s a Neutral Wire in this picture (yes I turned off the breaker to get this photo). I want to put in a quot;Smart Light Switchand they require a Neutral Wire. I ll have an electrician do the work, but want to make sure the wire exists first.: Yes there is a neutral wire, what is missing is the grounding conductor. That is also required for the smart devices to work. That would be a bare wire or a green wire. Good luck to you.

Q:Hi, I've got two new appliances (range hood fan/light and bathroom exhaust fan). Both are installed but not wired. My house is older, build in 1940s and the previous appliances were wired using the existing copper wiring which runs through the house. I'd like to electrically install these new appliances but am concerned about connecting the new appliance wiring (aluminum wiring i think?) to the copper wiring in the house.Is it safe to pigtail these two wires together? Or is there a better, more safe method?Thanks: You might find a holy war of electricians on this topic but to simplify. It is not safe to connect copper to aluminum wiring when the aluminum is SOLID core. Many new fixtures come with a silver colored wiring that is STRANDED and these are connected to copper wires as general practice without any problems.

Q:I have a buffalo tools 2000 watt generator i have been rebuilding. I have searched for a wiring diagram to help but no luck at all my question is about the wires that come out of the section that generates electricity. Outside of all the resets and switches coming right out of the back of the section that creates electricity has 6 wires coming out. Four are hooked to two different plugs two in each plug one set is red the other blue and the last two wires are separate black wires i would think are negative/ground wires i am looking to know what the red wires and blue wires actually are dc/ac volt i imagine just would like to know for sure don't want to blow anything up and help even guesses will be greatly appreciated.: Wire colors inside a generator are pretty much meaningless. I've seen green live wires and red ground wires. I suspect four of your wires come from two of the output coils. Each coil will produce 120VAC. They can be placed in parallel for maximum power at 120V or in series for 120/240V operation.

Q:Phone wire outside was old is anybody done that, do it your self put a new wire on?, Just curious to know..: anything after the demarcation (demarc) is your problem, anything on the telco side of the demarc is the local telco's problem. on your side, you can basically do what ever you want, but if you do it wrong, the telco has the right and OBLIGATION to disconnect your service. Q:Hey I have a standard Epiphone Les Paul, and I just bought some brand new Burstbucker pickups online. The one's I bought haven't arrived yet but in the picture, it looks like there is only 1 wire coming out of each pickup. When I take my wire cover off, i can see 1 wire comes out, but it's really 2 wires insulated to look like 1. What can I do so that I can put these expensive pickups in my guitar??: The two wires inside the larger one coming out of your current pickup represent hot and sheild. The hot wire is the signal and the sheild is a negative or ground wire that is connected to a piece of foil that is wrapped around the inside of the wire. This eliminates most of the hum that may be generated over the wire and is called sheilding. The Burstbucker has a hot and a sheild also, however it is made to look like a vintage pickup and the single wire in the middle is hot and the metal braid around the outside is the sheild. You should connect the wire to the same tang on the volume pot that the old pickup was attached to. The braid should be attached to the back of the pickup.

Q:i already tried wiring this light, but it didn't work. I always thought black wire to black, white to white and ground to ground. i connected the light fixture black wire to the three black wires (as shown in image) and the light fixture white wire to the three white wires, and connected ground wires together.when i flipped on the breaker, the light came on with the switch on off and the breaker tripped. i'm assuming this is wrong and i provided an image as i see in my ceiling mount. Can somebody kindly direct me how to properly connect the light fixture to these wires. thanks!: This should have worked. Any chance you have one of the black wires touching the side of the box or one of the white or ground wires? If the fixture that was removed worked before the new one should work now. Also check that one of the screws holding the fixture didn't touch one of the black wires when you tightened it. .
