Q: I'm replacing the door speakers in a 2001 Coupe Camaro with the factory sound system. I needed to know which wire was positive and which was negative so I bought a circuit tester. However, I keep getting the reading that both wires are positive. What could be causing this? I know the circuit tester works because I tested it on the battery terminals and it worked fine.: Speaker wire carries AC current. A circuit tester designed for DC voltage won't work, at least for telling you which is positive or negative. (It doesn't matter whether you use chassis ground, or the other speaker wire, as a reference). In the driver's door, the positive wire should be tan and the negative wire gray. In the passenger door, the positive wire is light green and the negative wire is dark green.

Q: Got a new kenwood stereo to replace the old kenwood one in my VW polo 1998. Workes fine but when I pushed the stereo into my dashboard a wire came out so I pulled it out and put it back in. Match colors to the kenwood wiring harness, splice or use butt connectors, plug harness into factory harness and player, attach antenna wire and you're done! If you did butcher the wires and left enough wire, repair the harness and buy a harness kit at your local sound shop, really cheap too! Good luck!

Q: 1 green wire, 1 black with red stripe wire: For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/awI5v try looking on the box the signal is coming from to see if it states it there, black is usually negative and red is positive but could differ if you simply reversed it at the source. if you are using RCAs, then it has been done for you and you do not have to worry about polarity. hooking up speakers backwards do not harm it, it just starts it out of sync. when speakers play, they either start from going out to in or in to out (the vibrations from the cone). as long as all the speakers in the system are doing the same thing, you will not hear a difference. if it sounds funny, reverse the wires. speakers use AC electricity so there is not much consequence for wiring it in reverse. DC electricity (like a battery) is picky (via the flash or spark if wires are in incorrectly). thayt is also why on some devices that use outlets do not care which way they are plugged in since it is AC. hope this kind of helps. try to find directions for your particular home reciever if all else fails or try to look the company up and call them directly to see if they can help.

Q: i have some blue speaker wire in my wiring kit for my subs but where do i start it out from my head deck when i start to wire it all together.: you connect the blue wire to either your power antenna turnon wire or a separate amp turnon lead. Newer decks might have a separate lead for the amp turnon. Your main power wires goes directly to your battery the blue turnon wire actually turns the amp on when you turn on the radio.
