Q: Was driving 80 yesterday and felt as if I was going to lift off of the ground. Was wondering if my car had wings, would I be able to achieve lift at that speed? I know that it would immediately drop without jet engines, but what would it take to lift a car up? Let‘s say an aerodynamic car like a trans-am.
A Trans-Am is aerodynamic in the sense that its design is meant to force it to the ground, rather than allow it to lift up which would result in sloppy steering and poor braking at high speeds. Theoretically, you could attach wings that would lift the car briefly under its own power, but once aloft without continued thrust, it would probably succum to gravity with catostrophic results. Here is the key: LCL SA 1/2p V2 (Lift coefficient of lift times Surface area times 1/2 R ((air density)) times velocity squarred) Good luck with your design. Wear a helmet!
Q: I know it sounds stupid but I have a 1997 pontiac sunfire and I want to lift it... High!... I'm really sick of being the smallest car on the road! Where I live everyone has huge suv's and semi's roll through town all the time as well... so if anyone has any info on what to use... I'm interested... and I could figure it all out if it was a truck but I'm just not sure what steps to go through to complete my BA task! People have done weirder things so please help me out!
Other than just being higher...have you thought through the implications of this on your car? The Sunfire engine will probably have a tough time powering such large wheels...so your acceleration and MPG are going to drop through the floor. Also, since it is a FWD vehicle...that is going to take some major modifications...it isn't as simple as a RWD car where you just buy a longer drive shaft. It would probably be far cheaper just to buy a SUV or truck but the time your done with it.
Q: My friend has a garage with a car lift at his house and when I went to raise the car to deactivate the emergency lock it only lifted the passenger side and it made a rattling noise. Please help my car is stuck up in the air.
get a load equalizer for the LED. about 15 bucks.
Q: i want to change my car‘s oil on my own and i want a workable amount of space between my face and my car. whats a good brand for floor jack + jack stand?
watch for the front wheel width if they are cheap and narrow they will flip over side way's and you could get hurt bad or at least the car,if you are going to use it a lot spend what ever you think your life's worth be safe my friend
Q: Can anyone answer these ?sWhat is the top speed of an F1 car/top speed of a drag car? What is the main purpose of the wings on an f1 car? What is the main purpose of the wings ion a plane?Between the car and the plane which wing creates lift which one creates down force?Which shape would be best for our application of a CO2 car? What kind of surface does an F1 car have Why?What are some requirements for car livery? (decals, team logos etc?)
1. A Formula One car can achieve different maximum speeds depending on the downforce levels applied to it. at the fastest track Monza in Italy the cars get to speeds of 225mph. A drag car can get up to speeds of 300+ mph. 2. The wings on an F1 car are to give the car downforce, to allow to take some corners at up to 180mph. The greater the speed, the greater the speed of the air flowing over the wing, which generates negative lift (opposite to what makes a plane fly) to push the car into the track. 3. Conversely, the wings on a plane generate positive lift, pulling the plane off the ground as the speed increases. 4. The F1 car creates negative lift (Downforce) and the Plane positive lift. 5. I don't quite understand what you mean, but from what I'm guessing you need a shape that is aerodynamic and creates as little drag as possible, to cut down on fuel consumption at higher speeds. Aerodynamic efficiency is key to designing any sort of race car. 6. By surface do you mean the materials that it is made from? If so a Formula One car is made almost entirely of Composite materials, in particular Carbon Fibre. 7. F1 car liveries are now mainly dictated by the advertising rules of most countries now. Tobacco advertising is now banned so most teams have taken the route of acquiring High-tech IT sponsors as both good marketing tools and good trading of resources. Hope this helps. but to expand on this perhaps you should do some more research yourself!?! :P
Q: I need to take off the spare tyre and put the original tyre back on to the front drivers side spot. When jacking it up at the front jacking point the car lifts up but the wheel remains on the ground leaving a close to one foot gap. I first thought I wasn‘t raising it enough so I placed wood blocks but it made no difference and I am afraid I may damage my car. I don‘t believe it is an issue with the jack because i used it days before to take the original wheel off.Any idea what to do or what I‘m doing wrong?Cheers
Yes it can and will depending on which tire it is and how off balance it is. If it is the front tire I would seriously get it balanced ASAP. I ride a sport bike and I don't know what type of bike yours is, but at certain speeds you can get a nasty wheel wobble (check out youtube for the videos) that can land you in the ER or worse.
Q: how much energy is required to lift a 1400 kg car 1.8 metrs due to gravity?
Assuming this is happening on Earth you would use these simple equations: Force (energy) Mass times Acceleration of gravity and Energy Force times Distance So F 1400kg times 9.8 N/kg (then the kg cancels out and you have 13720 N of Force(Newtons) Energy 13720 N times 1.8 meters The answer is 24696 Nm or Newton Meters
Q: what are car rockers?
Rockers are metal almost c shaped parts on a engine valve that help oil flow to the top of the engine. They rest on the cam shaft.
