I assume you are referring to a pressure safety valve (PSV) or a pressure relief valve. If you have a PSV connected on the exhaust side to a relief header that can have a pressure build up in then you can use a bellows type PSV to assure that the set pressure of the PSV is not changed by any pressure build up in the header You can get a better idea of this from the first link below.

Or if you can, go to petsmart and get one there. Petco tends to sell sub-par items and livestock. If you have a tank that is bigger than your air pump was intended, then you will have problems. Say you bought a 10 gallon air pump for your 20 gallon tank. The strength of the pump is only able to push air down to counteract the average depth of a 10 gallon tank, against the pressure of only that much water. However if it were in a 20 gallon, it may not be able to counteract the water and the check valve (which shouldn't be causing much of a problem anyways). Make your line shorter and see if that helps. You don't need tons of extra airline tubing coiled around. Cut it down to the length you need, and try again. Remember, check valve should be OUTSIDE of the water, in the direction indicated on the valve (as to which side is in, which side is out), and it should be closer towards the pump itself. The check valve just prevents any water from dripping back into the pump.

If you like how it plays you might just wish to leave it alone. Anything you do is going to change the way it plays, perhaps to something you don't like. Check compression by pulling the valve slide part way out, wait a second or two and then push the key, as the air fills up the partial vacuum cause by pulling the slide you should hear a nice thunk. If there is no noise when you push the valve the air is leaking around the valve and that's bad compression. Another way to check is just slowly withdraw the valve slide. It should get harder as you pull due to the vacuum, if it comes all the way out it should pop.

i think the older chevys, you could adjust the valves, but i think now they are self adjustment. what you do is take no:1 rocker and turn the crank, until its all the way down on the low cam and then torque the bolt to specs, do the rest the same way. but if they are adjustable, start your blazer and loosen the rocker until you hear the lifter, then tighten it until it stops, then give it another 1/4 to 1/2 turn more. do the rest of them the same way.

This is a 'Trip and Throttle' (T T) valve that is maintained in a 'Fully Open' postion during normal turbine operation. It is maintained open by a Hydraulic Control system that, should any of many shutdown conditions occur, the hydraulic oil will be dumped to its reservoir by the operation of a Solenoid valve, actuated by the shutdown signal, and the T T valve will immediately close, stopping the steam flow to the turbine speed control steam chest in a safe manner. The valve handwheel is then operated to ensure that the valve remains fully closed until the system is ready for re-start. The valve cannot be opened again until the shutdown condition has been rectified and the hydraulic system reset to restore the oil pressure to the valve. The valve however, can then only be re-opened manually and slowly until the turbine is brought to the 'Minimum Speed Control' Governor setting. When settled down at this condition and the steam chest valves are under the control of the Governor, the T T valve is swung wide open. This latches the valve in the fully open position until another shut down occurs,
