Q: I'm getting new carpet installed in a home I'm selling. It's not a high end home, just a 1700 sq foot house that I'll list for $400k. The carpet the carpetman recommended to me is a shaw 18 oz face weight, 48 total weight carpet. To go along with it is 7/16quot; 6lb padding. Is this good enough? Will it look and feel nice enough for the people who come to see the house?
18 oz face weight is about the lowest face weight you can buy. I sell this for rental units, and budget builder homes. It is not FHA approved. In most areas a $400,000 home will be expected to have a better carpet. In most areas this sells for $1.8 to 2.1 a sq ft installed with the 7/16 6 lb pad. Better to go for a 24 oz to 30 oz carpet for about $2.50 or so sq ft complete. Price will be less if you take up the old carpet pad.
Q: We just bought a nice silk rug from a wholesaler, and its 8x11. Since we bought it, it has been shedding like crazy. Is it normal? And how can you tell if it is handmade or machine-made? We bought it for $350.
Are you sure its silk? A real silk rug machine made in 8 x 11 will be over $1000. Handmade more like $3000 to $30,000. Its more sounds like a mercerized cotton rug. They look about the same. The cotton rug shedds more. Is there a label on the back of the rug with any infomation. Manufacture ? Country of manufacture? Any information will help to track it down. Post it and I will help. Two easy tests: rubb the rug with the palm of you hand, if it feels warm it may be silk. cool its cotton or rayon. One of the best tests is the burn test. Pull a piece of the yarn from the face. Just one will never be missed. Burn it, smells like burning hair, silk. smells like plastic, rayon. Smells like cloth, cotton. Also real silk is very, very strong. Cotton and rayon are must weaker.
Q: How to clean the gum on the carpet in the fastest and the most clean way?
Preferred choice is adhesion remover, it will the remove chewing gum with no trace.
Q: He has wrecked most of his toys but loves to chew my old living room rug . Please answer x
He's teething really bad so get him a knuckle bone to chew on plus some ice cubes, also a pain killer from the vets. Don't let him chew your rug because it's your home and you need to keep your items safe, spray some Crib Stop on it, it tastes bitter and it's meant for stables because Horses chew the wood, it's really good stuff to use. He will have lots of bits in his poos my GSD passed a bit of a plastic carrier bag, I was to late to stop him chewing the corner of it, after that all bags went into a drawer. Your lovely pup has 42 teeth coming through so bear with him another few weeks and he should be fine. You see the rug as old the pup would not know the difference between it and an Oriental priceless rug our Queen knows that, then again she can afford to smile at her Corgis seeing that we pay for them to live in a Palace.
Q: ive got a 3 year old welsh cob and he takes his rugs off because he don't like them but i want to know how i could get him used to them.idea's?Thanks
A few years ago, (in her stall overnight) my horse has managed to take her blanket off and it was laying on the ground with all of the buckles, 2 criss-cross surcingles 2 elastic legs straps still buckled/ in tact. The blanket fit her good wasn't too loose. I still wonder how she did that...LOL. Magic mare? Now I always buy closed front blankets/rugs without any buckles (need to put over the horses head) haven't had any problems.
Q: it is very dusty and old just want to remove the dust and try to being back the colors, considering hanging and vacuuming or blowing it with air, anyone know a better or more appropreiate way please? no stains, just dull and dusty!
hi i am iranian we iranian usually don't wash rugs we beat it it remove dust then we wash it with some soft degergents and some hot water then we dry it with some materials washing carpet makes it pale and makes the strings to become weak then it decays and tears
Q: My room is pretty small, it's rectangular shaped. My carpet is..disgusting. It's like ugly green color and its stained and I need some ideas on what to do. My mom and I have no money and I need a rather cheap, easy , solution. Any idea?
I had this problem when I was living at home. I had a ugly dark green carpet. Very little money as well. Here is what I did I went to good will and the salvation army as well as discount stores. I bought a lot of bath room carpets. You know the little ones for the tub and sink. I sewed them together and did a patch work on my carpet. The whole thing took about 1 month to find them all ,but it was done under 40.00. I even asked people around the neighbor hood for their old carpets if they had any. My colors was light blue, pink, purple and beige.
Q: I've recently noticed rugs popping up on my yards in the evenings, it goes down to around 4oC here at night right now, and all horses are in their own fields, not in a herd. I personally am not too sure on rugging yet. My mare is a 16.2, 10 year old Irish Sports Horse, and I simply refuse to clip her for my own reasons. She has been rugged for most of her life with her old owner, and obviously it's unfair of me to deny her rugging now, so no rug is not an option.I was just wondering how cold it has to get before you start rugging. I myself will rug in horrible rain, and at 1oC or below, but should I be doing it at higher temps? I don't want to ruin the growth of her winter coat, and she gets hay and a feed every night.
I also agree with the first answer. My horse is not blanketed during the winter and I live in Wisconsin where it gets pretty cold during the winter. He just turns into a very fuzzy horse during the winter. I do cover him after I have worked him so he does not get chilled then. Addition: If your horse is older, or possibly has issues keeping weight on during the winter it may be beneficial to blanket. But as long as your horse does not appear to be deficient in a winter coat then you should not have to blanket.
Q: My animals have caused havoc on my new beautiful large shag rug,, any insight. i.e. I dont own a machine that does carpet cleaning.
If the rug has a rubber backing, you can machine wash it. Take it to a laundromat and use the machines there. Cold water, regular laundry detergent. Then bring the rug home and hang it to air dry. If the rug has a stiff canvas backing, you will need to either rent a carpet cleaner or hire a professional to clean it. Good luck. -
Q: Urine odor is old and on natural dye rug.
The okorder for a list of hot water carpet cleaners, that may offer this service, or know of some one near by that does.
