- Q:so how can i clean a really short haired carpet without chemicals? i've heard something like really hot boiled water in a spray bottle, then sprayed all over the carpet, then vacuuming the carpet works? would it? any help is appreciated, of and its brown normally, im just trying to get some of the dirt and cat hair out of it. thankyou =]
- Try some powdered borax. Sprinkle on a small section of the carpet first and try covering with a towel for a few minutes to stop any chance of the cat licking it (will make him very sick). Then vacuum it up properly. If this isnt something you want to try just get a bucket of warm water and some eucalyptyus oil in it...very little. Get a large sponge and soak it in the water then wring it out so its damp. Rub in one direction over the carpet - this should bring the hair together into a moist clump that can be vacuumed up easily.

- you can not put 2 layers of padding on top of each other. for one thing it will bunch up, and it will also void your warranties from the manufacturer. try looking for a good 8 lb 7/16 inch pad. you really don't want that much bulk under the carpet, it will cause it to pop off the tack strip, thereby losing the stretch. it will also be like trying to run the vaccuum over wet grass. f you are using a berber carpeting, you want to use as firm a pad as possible.
- Q:I'm in a 5 piece band playing in about a 20x20 room. 2 walls aren't covered with boxes and the floor is linoleum. It's really loud in there and we need to dampen the room to a bearable level. We were thinking about getting 3 or 4 rugs for said 2 walls and floor. But then we started considering acoustic foam. I'm sure acoustic foam is more effective than rugs, but since we're on a really tight budget, is it really worth it to spend twice as much on foam? Or will rugs suffice? - You mentioned you have a pad. Is it a pad specifically made for a rug going over a carpet. If not that might be the problem. Rug to Rug hold pad is best. It is a thin pad that has a tackiness on both sides. It will not hurt your exisiting carpet, and will hold your rugs in place. It take a few days to get the pad to settle into its memory to hold your rug. A rug to rug hold pad will sometimes lose it tackiness to hold a rug in place, however if you can wash it usually that tackiness comes back. Don't put it in the dryer. The rug to rug hold pad sort of feels like post-a-note tackiness. Usually this type of pad can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowe's and most rug stores will carry a variety of pads. If all else fails you can use double-sided tape, not duct tape.

- I have a very similar design with white oak floors, clear fir trim, and chamois walls. I chose a heavy herringbone seagrass rug with a wide border closely matched to the seagrass colors. The rug has been down for over a year, and has held up very well. My 2 year old lab has slobbed on it with his tennis ball, and thrown-up on it a few times during his experimental food stage. I was able to clean the mess up quickly, and it didn't stain. The colors are green to brown and seem to blend in real well with the yellowy chamois color.

- Nail polish remover will get the paint out from the carpet. But, to what expense? The acetone will de-laminate the top of the carpet from the backing of the carpet. Which will make a wrinkle in the carpet. Plus the acetone will dissolve the padding under the carpet. Use a small amount of paint thinner on a rag to remove the paint from the carpet. That Acetone will totally ruin the carpet. Stop using it.. Where Finger Nail Polish Remover was used to remove Paint on the Carpet clean up the residue with dissolved laundry detergent like, maybe Roma Laundry Detergent. Roma works great. Do not get the area on the Carpet too wet. After cleaning off the residue from the Carpet, dry the Carpet with clean white towels. Not by rubbing, but by putting the towels on the Carpet and stepping on the towels until dry. Clean up the residue from the Paint thinner and dry in the same manner..

- Hang the rug up if you can and spray it with water and see if you can work the wrinkles out by pulling of them. Good Luck
