Q: I bought one and I have to wear earplugs to use it. It doesn't work all that well, either, just good enough. I'm thinking of taking it back. Any suggestions for a good stick vacuum? My case on my Hoover was cracked really badly (where it meets the handle) - that's why I bought the Shark.
I only have the hand held shark, bigger than a dustbuster, it is kind of noisy. But I dont take it out much.
Q: Where is a place in Louisiana to buy one? Is there a Dealership?
I have been in the cleaning business for 20 years and have had some experience with vacuum cleaners. I think you could have an excellent vacuum for around $300-$400. (Panasonic, Sanyo, Sharp) After seeing the Rainbow demonstrated, I just don't think they are worth the money. I also don't get how they clean the air. Basically, they are passing the dirty air over some water (not through it). and call this cleaning the air and filtering out the dirt. Check out some of the above vacuums online and save yourself some Christmas money. I just recently bought a Sanitaire SC6600 for our house and we really like it. Paid Approx. $325.00. It is commercial, 2 motor system, tools and stretch hose on board, carpet or hard floors (your can turn the beater brush off and just have air flow). Hope this helps.
Q: Hi All,Could you recommend some vacuums cleaners which are best for hardwood and tile floors? The one I have now picks up the big stuff ok but leaves behind some pet hair and the smaller dirt/dust particles. I usually have to follow up my vacuuming with the Swiffer. Thanks for your suggestions!

I have a dog that sheds A LOT.Dirt Devil Reaction All-Surface Cyclonic; Bissell ProHeat Turbo; Bissll ProHeat 2X; Bissell Lift-Off Pet; Hoover Mach 5 Multi-Chamber Cyclonic; Hoover WindTunnel Deluxe Dirt Finder; Hoover Empower; Hoover WindTunnel Supreme; Eureka Capture w/ Spinduster; Eureka Boss Capture Plus; Eureka Boss 4D SpinDuster; Eureka Boss 4D; Eureka Boss SmartVac Ultra HEPA Deluxe; Eureka Boss SmartVac Ultra HEPA
Q: I was conversing with a person in the vacuum industry and was informed that they were a bucket of s.h.i.t so don't be fooled by the marketing.
Everyone has their preferences, that's what makes a horserace. I've been in the vac repair business for over 35 years, started out with Electrolux, which at that time was one of the best built, longest lasting, best cleaning machines in the industry. They were 98% American built, using American parts in an American city, by American workers. I've repaired and refurbished, rebuilt, just about every possible brand and type of vacuum, steam cleaner, floor scrubber you can name and the one thing that always seemed to stick in my craw about Dyson, is the flat out, bald faced lies that the bonehead who appears on TV and claims to have designed the thing spouts. He always says, It can't clog and lose suction because it has no filters. BUNK! I know of at least 3 filters that are available for Dyson's, (you know, the one that doesn't have any filters to clog). That's pretty much the problem with all bagless cleaners. They MUST be filtered someway, or the dust would be pulled through the motor and be pushed out the exhaust, simple physics. One other thing while we're debunking here, the powdered stuff you sprinkle on the carpet and then sweep up to make them smell nice and fresh, will ruin your vacuum. It's like sucking up flour, or plaster dust. It plugs the pores of the bags used to catch it, or the filters on the bagless units, either way it deprives the motor of the air flow it needs to stay cool enough to last.
Q: Vacuum Cleaners...please tell me the BEST one out there?!?!?!?
You got to think which one cost less to run and can pickup anything you want. Hoover top of the line always works and last a very long time. The new bagless systems are good. If you can get one that you can clear the filters with water that's a plus. All vaccums clean good, and you don't have to go and spend a lot for a vaccum. Heavy duty Wet/Dry Vac is the best from water, saw dust and etc.., but even with wheels to pull it around not the right thing to use daily.
Q: During the post war period and up until around the beginning of the 1960's what are some things in technology or inventions that helped women's domestic roles at home? For example washing machine, vacuum cleaners and electricity?Thank you! :D
The best of men are those who are good to their wives.. I am lucky I have a good man. He helps me so much. He works 12 hours a day and will come home and help clean or cook etc... only thing I really have to do is care for my son..... When I am sick my husband will wake no matter what time and he never complains... Allah(swt) has surely blessed me with a wonderful partner.
Q: I have 4 cats and my vacuum recently broke. It wasn't all that good with picking up cat hair anyways. Can you suggest good vacuum cleaners for cat hair under $200? The attachments aren't a big deal to me and probably would be more of a hassle. Looking for something with easy disposable and strong suction. Thanks
Check into a bissle
Q: I heard Dysons are very nice, but they are very expensive. I could save up for one but it is all its cracked up to be? Are there any less expensive vacuum cleaners out there that are worth the money? I want one that doesn't clog easy and can pick up pet hair. Also preferably one that isn't too messy to dump it contents. Thanks ! :)
I use to own a Kirby and the motor went out on it after having it for 5 years. As expensive as that was ,I was not impressed and decided against sinking anymore money into it so I bought a Hoover Mach 5 which was about $200 and have liked the results I've goten with it. It is bagless and picks up pet hair very well. This was a couple years ago so a newer model than the Mach 5 is available I'm sure.Just because you pay more for something doesn't necessarily mean it is better. I would never buy another Kirby or a Rainbow for that matter.
Q: Vacuum cleaners work by suction and suck up dirt. That would finally be correct usage of the word suck.
While an open-ended vacuum does, literally, suck, one usually refers to the process, suction, specifically suction power when referring to the machine's action. One might be more specific/scientific refer to force of the vacuum if one were attempt to weigh the merits of various vacuum cleaners, although this is usually done by comparing relative measures of engine horsepower. Usually, of course, a practical demonstration is called for given. As for the negative connotations given to the term in common parlance, there are two possibilities: 1) It is an abbreviated version of the term more euphemistically stated as vacuums excrement. 2) It could refer to a negative memory of an adolescent experiment w/ a machine... The former seems more likely. But, as Fats Waller used to say: One never knows... Do one?
