- Q: I bought one and I have to wear earplugs to use it. It doesn't work all that well, either, just good enough. I'm thinking of taking it back. Any suggestions for a good stick vacuum? My case on my Hoover was cracked really badly (where it meets the handle) - that's why I bought the Shark.
- I had a shark one and got rid of it primarily for the noise. They use such a small motor with alot of rpms which is why they are so loud. Plus it stopped sucking very well after a short period of time. I have a Hoover wind tunnel now which is pretty quiet. It is a generic version of the Dyson. Got it at Walmart for $ 110.00.
- Q: I want to know your personal experiences about which vacuum is best (especially for deep cleaning and getting cat hair off furniture), and which are just a waste of money. Only your own experiences, please! I don't really care what your hairdresser's cousin's husband's mother said, lol!I'm planning to buy another new vacuum, and want to get the most bang for my buck, and hopefully one that will last! Thanks a bunch!
- Well, I've had a Kirby since 1979 and it's still going strong. I've always had cats and dogs and whatever other critters in the house. They're expensive - I think I paid close to $500 when I bought it with all the attachments - rug shampooer, carpet cleaner, etc - but considering I've had it over 30 years, I've gotten my money's worth. I've only had to replace the belt twice. I think they cost about $6 last time I bought one.
- Q: Where are DYSON vacuum cleaners made?
- I don't know where they are made, but I can tell you that they are the best vacuum on the market! I love them and wish I had the money to buy one for myself. My old boss had one and it picked up everything off of every surface, even the dog hair. I used to love sweeping his office/house just cause I got to use the vacuum.
- Q: I am planning to buy a vaccum cleaner to my home. What do you guys think having a portable one rather than the normal heavy kind?Any idea about the price of an average one?
- I would also not recommend getting something too light, meaning it's only meant for small jobs. They generally are built using cheaper or lightweight components that will wear out quickly. Having owned many vacuums over the years, I can tell you that I still prefer a model that uses a bag. Here's why; the bag makes things neater. When it's full, I throw it out. Those models that use a small cup or whatever make a heck of a mess everytime you want to empy it; a big cloud of dust etc. always surrounds the garbage bin. I also find that many of those models require frequent cleaning of the filters, or replacement. The Dyson might be the exception to all this but quite frankly the price is a big barrier for me. My last and current vacuum is an Oreck upright that seems to be very well made and works better than any other model I've ever owned.
- Q: What Roomba Vacuum Cleaners do you recommend?
- Hi There... this site might help you...
- Q: I am looking for a quality 120V compact vacuum cleaner max. $200. I need a good quality one with lots of suction power(the car socket vacuums are garbage). I have a Rainbow but hate dragging the $2000 machine around the garage and having to refill the water is a pain. I need a vacuum where the nozzles are plastic or non metal since I have 2 BMWs with leather seats and am very careful not to nick or scratch plastic or leather parts. I also want there to be different sized nozzles for the carpet, between the seats, leather seams, ect.. I heard Metropolitan is good. Any suggestions welcome, thanks.
- Most people just buy the smallest size shop vacuum cleaner for this sort of thing. Under $100 at a lot of places. Check at Wal Mart. They pretty well always come with plastic nozzles.
- Q: what are the faults that occur in a vacuum cleaner how to rectify them ? esp. when its not getting start .i think it contains a dc motor (but of what type i dont know).thanks in advance
- given your level of knowledge about vacuum cleaners my best advice would be throw away the broken one and buy a new one. But let's say you decided not to take that advice. Then take the broken machine to a professional repairman. Let's say you didn't want to do that either. First let me warn you again that one of the first two solutions are your best bet. So you can't afford a new vacuum cleaner or to pay someone else to fix it. Ok. Unplug it from the wall. Check the plug and power chord carefully. Look for anything broken or bent. Replace any broken, bent or worn parts. By the way, make sure the outlet is functional. Take something you know is working and plug into the same outlet. If the working item does not work in that particular outlet then the outlet is broken. If the forgoing did not fix the machine then you really, really need to go with the first or second suggestion. If you can't then you have to open up the machine and see if you can find out anything wrong with the innards. Before doing that, check the vacuum hose, intake and filter. Make sure that none of these is clogged or broken. Replace any broken parts and clear any clogs. If you have to open up the machine then we are out of my depth. Yes I could tell you that after you make very, very, VERY, certain that the damn thing is not plugged into the wall, use a volt ohm meter to check the continuity of the wires and replace any broken ones. But if you don't know what a volt ohm meter is, you need to give this project up before hurt yourself.
- Q: I am slow to put my sweaters away for the summer and out of the way of moths. It's possible a moth already found them and layed her eggs on them. I shook them all outside carefully, have placed them in a zipper bag and will add some mothballs. Will that kill the eggs that might be in there???P.S. I am not going to wash them all because some were washed and others are not soiled.
- Lavender is a much nicer scent--- and it will also ward off moths. Another thing to try is to use the new big Ziploc bags to store them in the Summer-- then you can minimize the damage by storing them separately....then hopefully not all sweaters will be damaged.
- Q: I am trying to find a vacuum cleaner that works but has a security feature that prevents it from being stolen. I work in a residence hall and have inherited the task of finding new vacuum cleaners. This hall has a history of thievery when it comes to vacuums, so I am hoping to find a means by which to control usage of a vacuum either with a key, a code, a combination, a timer, etc. Checking them out and in has proven not to work so well in the past.I want these vacuums to last for a long time, and I want them to be able to power through almost anything (hair, stickers, bobby-pins, etc.). Thanks for the help!
- That is a tough one. I do not know of a vacuum that has a lock built into it. The Miele canister vacuum cleaners have a handle. You can put a bicycle style lock through the handle. You could also do that with a Dyson. The Miele's last really well.
- Q: Be serious or be funny----it is up tp you.
- If you like vacuuming in the dark, i guess.
