- Q: Iam supposed to do costing for a modification that we are doing for a hand held vacuum cleaner, the modification is an retractable arm.I want to know how are hand held vacuum cleaners manufactured, (forging, extrusion, injection molding??) What would be the cost??Any help thanks
- Look at the hand held vacuums they have in the store. If the housing is plastic, it is a 99.99% chance it is injection molded. If it is made of metal it could be extruded if it has a constant cross section along its length. Aluminum is a very common extrusion metal. I would doubt any high volume hand vac would have a forged housing, but I don't get out that much. Casting and machining is a possibility. As far as costs, it all depends on the life of the tool, and the number of cavities for a mold or a casting. If you mold/cast one part at a time it is much more expensive than two or four or eight. The more you mold at once, the bigger the molding/casting machine and the more expensive the mold/casting. So it depends on how many you want to make in a given amount of time, and how many through the life of the product. Finally, for your modification, do you have a design with drawings and a volume target? That is the first step to figuring out costs.
- Q: this is for a school project - i can't find the answer anywhere else. please help me
- Home vacuum cleaners? Try different brands. Oreck, for instance. Just google their name. In fact, I think they still make their vacuum cleaners in the US. Most other brands probably manufacture in China although their corporate headquarters could be in the US. To find other names, just google something like vacuum cleaners buy You'll get a list of companies. Then google the companies' names to find their headquarters. Or go down to KMart etc. and look for the origin of manufacture on the machines. Look for the word China.
- Q: Explain how this fan causes dirt to be picked up by the vacuum cleaner.
- When the fan spins, it creates a region of lower than atmospheric pressure behind it and higher pressure ahead of it. The region of lower pressure is open to the area you are cleaning. This reduced pressure causes air (and hopefully what you are trying to pickup) to be pulling into the vacuum and passes through the fan and into bag or bin.
- Q: Does small industrial vacuum cleaners work perfectly ?
- anything called industrial means it's built better (with steel rather than plastic) and lasts longer and cleans better. Everything you use takes a little work on your part though.
- Q: Honest, Himself just purchased a new vacuum we are told one of the attachments was used in the 1940s for nit picking.Have you ever heard of a nit picking attachment being put on vacuum cleaners in the past? If you were to gain some nits would you be inclined to use a vacuum to remove them? Why or why not.Oh in case you were wondering I don't catch nits. I know this because back in the day I had work that involved louse removal from humans I never, ever caught any. Apparently I am immune.
- Thanks, I just learned something new. Patent # 6086682. Although it probably works, I don't want the nits in my sweeper. It's bad enough sweeping the carpet for fleas. It gets costly purchasing vacuum bags every week, but I would not have it any other way. Apparently, this nit picker attachment for a vacuum goes back to 1908. Inventors:Anderson, Daniel P. (3206 N. - Q: Alright, we've lived in this apartment for a year and three months, and we're on our third vacuum cleaner. The first two were Eureka's, then we bought a cheap bissel this last time. I had been taking excellent care of my vacuums, right down to washing the dirt cups, filter and cleaning out the carpet brushes with every use. I couldn't figure out why we were going through them like we were, but everyone suggested that cat hair is clogging them and burning them up. The newest started acting up within two uses (and it's not a large apartment, and we have one cat who hardly sheds, and we clean on a regular basis. Anyways, I tore the stupid thing apart to find MOUNDS of cat hair clogged in it. There was at least enough to be the size of a softball in the hose. So, how the heck is this thing clogging so fast, and what can I do to prevent it? I can't be tearing the stupid thing apart after every use, I refuse to shave or get rid of the cat and I can't exactly just stop vacuuming. Help me please!
- Vacuum more often so it isn't picking up so much hair at one time. Try using a clothes roller (the sticky kind) on the floor before you vacuum to remove some of the cat hair.
- Q: It's gross, but there is a ton of human hair and a bit of pet hair on our floors. We've used several different vacuums, but the hair wraps around the roller and it doesn't pick up anything. Can you recommend a vacuum that will not get tangled?
- Talk to some one about Riccar, they have some kind of promotion on there products that are famous for vacuuming up hair.
- Q: any views appreciated ......
- A friend of mine highly recommended it to me so I did a little research and findings suggest that they are cutting edge technology: great suction- ideal for pet owners compact for storage lightweight to save my back flexible to reach difficult areas and OKorder has the best price. Hope this will help:
- Q: It's not but two years old. Took it to a house with really old electrical outlets/wiring system, plugged it in and it ran. Turned it off, tried to turn it back on and it wouldn't turn on again. No electric box switches were tripped/turned off. Also tried it in outlets in all three rooms but it still didn't turn on. Fo vacuum cleaners have fuses the protect the motor? Any thoughts as to what's going on and/or what I can do (besides buy a new one)? Any advice appreciated.
- i think it sounds like you blew the motor.
- Q: Why would they make products that will break in a few years? Is this a good policy?
- cars vacuum cleaners appliances there are just too many to list They used to make products to last. Quality used to mean something in the make of a product. Now the policy isn't quality but quantity to keep the money rolling in. :-))
