- Q: My diningroom and livingroom are together so I've painted them a nice yellow...and my trim is wood most of my furniture is oak and I have wood flooring, what color rug would fit perfect with my living-dining area?? And any suggestions on where I can find a good price for one?
- I have a very similar design with white oak floors, clear fir trim, and chamois walls. I chose a heavy herringbone seagrass rug with a wide border closely matched to the seagrass colors. The rug has been down for over a year, and has held up very well. My 2 year old lab has slobbed on it with his tennis ball, and thrown-up on it a few times during his experimental food stage. I was able to clean the mess up quickly, and it didn't stain. The colors are green to brown and seem to blend in real well with the yellowy chamois color.

- Red dye from kool aid is one of the hardest stains to clean. Your best bet would be trying to find a professional carpet cleaner to remove the stain, but since the carpet is such a light color I'm sure they won't be able to guarantee any type of results.

- 3D pad, surrounding pad are materials of multi-layer synthesis, the middle is a layer of EVA foam which will dent after being stepped for some time, and four sides will go upwards, sometimes it will block the brake pedal. the wet foam is not easy to be dried, so there is will be smell left~ ~ ~ all in all, pad with the foam layer is not good.
- Q: My carpet in my living room has become stiff. I regularly shampoo it and it is rinsed thoroughly. Any suggestions as to how to make it soft again?
- Definitely too much soap. I have heard some say that you should only use incredibly hot water and maybe some vinegar in carpet cleaners. I personally do use soap, but just a small amount. Not nearly what they recommend. Use some very hot water and go over it all. Maybe take a few times to get it all out!
- Q: I need to clean my sage green carpet.....they look bad. Does the Rug Doctor work? How much does it cost? Does it make the carpet very wet? Would it be best IF I do get it to use it when I can have windows and doors open so it would air out? I really wanna clean my carpet because it is driving me crazy. - rug doctors work great! last time I rented one from the supermarket, it was 50 or 60 dollars (CDN) plus you have to give them a credit card number. by the time I bought shampoo ( I use vinegar as the defoamer) it cost 80 or 90 dollars total. how wet the carpet gets depends on how wet you make it--the machine gets most of the water out. if you plan on shampooing furniture and stairs, be sure to get the upholstery attatchment
- Q: The carpets in a house we placed an offer on are ick. Well they don't smell and most of the stains I think will clean out but they eventually need to be replaced. But due to other costs we have to address first we want to clean them. Is calling a professional steam cleaner the best way to go? Does steam cleaning really do a good job? We have shampood carpets before with horrible results.
- steam cleaning does a good job. sometimes the companies will have specials,like $99 for 24x24 room and they move the furniture ting one with the shampoo will be about $50
- Q: I have this OLD area rug from my grandmother. - if it's an old rug and is from your grandmother, then I would think you would consider it an antique and treat it properly. The proper way is merely to store it or place it on the wall as an antique. I doubt very much if you could clean the yellow, and the threads would have weakened over the years. I'd keep it as a treasure. It could be valuable, plus you might want to pass it down to your children. Buy yourself another rug to walk on.
