Q: We have a large carpet that we want to cut and lay over our cream one (to save it as we have a two year old) The carpet WILL fray and become untidy and we have heard that it will cost 80p per 12 inches to get it 'overlocked' or is it called 'binding' (the edges sewn up so it doesnt fray) and we just cant afford it as the measurements are 16 feet x 9 feet = ?40 (odd)... Ive done a little research and have come across 'double sided carpet tape' (?) also I see something else 'GLUE'.. that can be used. Does anyone out there know how we would do it... the tape AND glue (?) Can someone give me step by step instructions or directions on how to stop this carpet from coming undone and fraying. Thank you very much indeed. x
google DIY carpet binding follow and read the links and you see what is available..
Q: I'm thinking of buying a shag rug similar to this type. I have 2 boys and a dog...so it will need to be steam cleaned every now and then. I'm wondering if those are cleanable with professional steam cleaners, or if the sucking action will tear up the rug. Figured it would be good to find out before I buy one! Thanks!
this information came from the care instructions on the link you provided: Recommended Care: ?Professional rug cleaning or hand wash in cold water ?Hang or lay flat to dry ?Flip over and vacuum on the back side ?Rug pad is recommended under all rugs to avoid skidding ?Due to the hand made nature of the rugs, colors and sizes will vary slightly Because this is a hand made rug and costly, I myself would not use a steam cleaning machine on it.
Q: I put dark purple carpet in my room and painted my walls light purple. What color scheme can i change my room too. Im sick of it.
Any light colors would work for the walls. Maybe get a rug you like and take the colors from that to redo your room. You could also stencil on your wall dark purple like your carpet.
Q: My bathroom is a sage green color with a white shower curtain, and black and white pictures in silver frames. currenlty I have tan towels and tan rugs, I hate it! What other colors would work?
olive, avocado, or silver and black
Q: Im have these sheets with a solid comforter i like this rug a lot but does it match the sheets? please help
made for each other
Q: I have a budget of about $2300 for the carpet, pad, and labor. I have inquired at two different places and have been given very different estimates of the cost of carpet per square foot that I can afford. These are the dimensions of the three rooms:Living Room: 12X23Dining Room: 12X12Hallway: 4X12How much, with approximate cost of pad and installation fees, do you think I can afford?
You actually need a 12x41 piece of carpet (total--with one seam in hallway). This is 54.66 square yards. This means you can spend about $42 per square yard and stay within your budget. You can have most anything in the store if you come to my store. The same will apply wherever you shop. Your budget is great for what you want. You have no worries. DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT...EXACTLY. Then have both companies bid on that product. You should be able to get something nice for about $35/sy. If you happen to live in the Dallas, Tx area, I would love to give you a quote.
Q: can i pop them in the dryer briefly? or would they burn the rugs have a rubber bottom . thanks also wat cycle should i useDOnt be rude
Yes you can but on gentle and pop only the rugs in the dryer on low heat to get the dampness out. Oh yeah and your shower curtain..depends on if it's the liner or the curtain. If its the liner buy a new one if its really bad cuz they are a pain in the but to clean. If it's the actual curtain sure go ahead and wash it as long as your rugs and your curtain are the same color wash them together gentle and on cold. -air dry your curtain tho,as there is plastic at the top, and would melt in dryer if dried.
Q: I used a carpet shampooer along with a solution of natures miracle and a small scoop of oxy clean to clean my carpets. My cat had peed a spot in one of my rooms, so i just went ahead and shampooed all the carpet areas. I know that the Nature's miracle says that the carpet has to be 100% dry for the odors to go away. Well it has been over a week and I have noticed that everywhere I shampooed now smells horribly like cat urine! It is overwhelming! The carpet shampooer is kind of old, it was given to me, and I am wondering if it had some odors in it. I took the shampooer outside and took it apart and sprayed it with vinegar but I am scared to use it again because i think that it distributed the urine odor all over my house :( I don't know what to do, the cat urine odor is just everywhere now! What do i do to get rid of it....do i just need to get a new shampooer?
Go to the grocery store, where you can rent shampooers. They're industrial strength and really clean a carpet. Do a second all over shampoo, then again with vinegar rinse.
Q: My uncle was given a (real) polar bear rug by a little old lady, and it's vintage. We'd like to sell it, but we have no idea where to start. It's incredibly creepy to have this poor dead thing hanging out in your garage. Is it legal to sell it in the US? It does have some damage, it's missing part of a paw, and the nose is a bit sad looking. Otherwise, it's still soft and life-like.
Don't know but...since our government has listed them as threatened, I do know you better be careful and make sure you find out the real scoop on your question. I do know that a person cannot transport them into the us--even if they were taken legally. That I did research on line not long ago. Good luck Randy
Q: When performing Salat, is a rug (or an equivalent) optional?
The reason why a rug is used for salat is: 1. To provide a context for prayer. 2. A matter of tradition (many Muslims use other things that rugs). 3. To provide a limited space for prayer. The Qur'an does not compel Muslims to use a rug, but it does compel cleanliness during prayer, so I would strongly recommend you using a rug or its equivalent if it is available to you.
