Q: I am moving into a foreclosure. The carpet is badly stained in some areas. I can't afford to replace all of the carpet. Do you know how to effectively remove stains from carpet? Resolve doesn't work.
The issue is and always has been, less about the carpet and more about the padding. Certainly Hundreds of products are sold claiming to reduce or remove stains, and given that most carpet fibers are synthetics, they all may have some moderate success. It may also depend in large measure, on what caused the stain in the first place, and I promise you any WET attempts, no matter Who the PRO Cleaner is, who does the job,,, will leach to the padding. The same can be said for those machines so many rent from the grocery store. The problem will show soon enough, in that the stain, or some of it will appear to be gone from the carpet, but at least some of it will end up in the pad. Then as the carpet fibers will dry first the Moisture in the pad, along with the stain, will leach back up, into the carpet. Many PROS also use a Bonnet technique; similar to dry cleaning clothing. The machine (looking like a floor buffer) is fitted with an absorbent pad. Some chemical substance sprayed from an ordinary spray bottle is applied as the BONNET is then rotated over the stained area, gathering whatever amount is possible, into the Bonnet pad, while keeping a moisture level low so as to NOT allow seeping into the pad. In reality, if you want to keep this forecloser or even FLIP it you should probably pull the carpet, and at the very least replace the pad. You'll notice years of abuse that may not show on the carpet surface. Also to do the WET approach, even Stanley Steamer the likelyhood is that any leached substance/stain will add aromas to the house, when wet, that you might not enjoy, IE: Pet Urine. Steven Wolf
Q: how do you get red stains off the carpet?
What are the red stains? If you could tell us, we may be of more help to you. If you are not exactly sure, then a guesstimate would be good. Wine? lipstick? juice? paint? etc
Q: How often is the average for replacing living room or bedroom carpet, I know it depends on the traffic, etc but just wondering averages and when is it time to replace instead of having it cleaned
10 years is the average life span of carpet. Lots of variables there such as traffic, pet stains etc. when it wears out or uglies out is when its time to replace it.
Q: Tips for cleaning wool carpet
Carpet cleaning although not what is common, but more trouble, because many owners have problems and give up the use of carpet cleaning. Pour 500 ml of water in the bowl, then add two or three drops of essential balm or toilet water, sweeping the carpet with a broom dipped in a mixture of water, can make indoor air moist, but also to prevent the role of mosquitoes in summer. The wool carpet should be exposed to dust for 3 days. Wool for wool carpet is normal, generally a year or so, floating hair off clean, there will be no problem. If the maintenance method is correct, the wool carpet can be used for about 10 years.
Q: He's a 1 year old male, and my mom bought a new rug for our bathroom, and he's always peeing on it! I really need to get him to stop because now my mom wants to get rid of him =[ And if it helps, we have another male cat (they're both fixed) that's 8 or 9 years old. Thanks!
Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More??? on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing! Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...
Q: My 5 year old son and i are moving into a flat that has an existing carpet which the owner refuses to lift. I had a carpet cleaning company come in to clean the carpets today and they now seem ok. MY question is : Can carpets cause respiratory problems in young kids? We sleep on a futon which is very low so our heads will be near the carpet. Of course i will be vacuuming as frequently as possible but i have heard that dangerous bacteria etc.. get into the carpet that the vacuum cant get out. What are the health hazards and can my healthy 5 and a half year old get affected? I would hate for him to develop allergies, respiratory problems or wore case scenario Asthma.
I think the carpet will be fine you have cleaned it and are going to vacuum regularly so there is nothing to worry about.Having a capert can't cause asthma, respiratory problems or create allergies these are largely genetic conditions.
Q: The carpet rubber floor is glued to the floor. How can it be removed?
With paper towels stained with some alcohol (preferably with industrial alcohol, not to use medical also OK) wipe, and then rub a few times on the clean.
Q: Looking for someone in Turkey who is already trained in fine rug repair. If anyone knows anyone please contact Passion of Persia.
I found their site over the net though, so I can't give a personal reference on this one. Yet they are located at the Hal?c?lar ?ar??s?, that is the Rug Sellers Market, so they got to be adequately skilled in their trade I reckon. But again, at your own risk I must add. To call their number you should add 0090 country code to the front (009002125149738)
Q: Looking for an exposé kind of guide for buying carpets both online and at lifestyle stores. Websites should be helpful. Thanks.
Carpet Buying Secrets by Laura Adams (also known as Insider Secrets to Buying Floor Covering) -- It's the best carpet buying guide I know and also the most current on tips and trends. I work as an Interior Designer, so buying carpets 'smartly' is part of my job. The reason I like this guide is because - (1) It addresses safe buying practices for both professionals and home owners, and (2) It tells you some little-known secrets about buying carpets that the store salesman might just forget to tell.. or may not want you to know about.
Q: I love my cat, but she will not stop peeing on my den rug. We clean it with all the special cat cleaners to get rid of the smell and then we even tried covering the area with tin foil because cats are supposed to hate that -- she just peed around it -- in a place she had never peed before! We brought her to the vet and there is nothing wrong with her health-wise. We even block off the room, but whenever she gets a chance she finds a way to sneak in and pees! It's infuriating. We have a baby on the way, so on top of the fact that this is so gross, we can't have a cat in the house who pees wherever she feels like it once the baby is born. Any thoughts?? We've seriously tried everything!
For starters, your cat is extremely jealous of the pending arrival of your baby - they can sense that there is something going on and they will no longer get the brunt of your attention. As for the rug, there is a smell in it that keeps her coming back, those rug cleaners only mask the smell, but there is probably a soiled spot on the backing of the rug that still holds the smell. Is it possible to roll the rug over and look for a stain underneath? If not, Wal-Mart or a Pet Food place should have a can of stuff called 'Pet Training Spray - it has a smell that revolts them, it is how I keep my 3 cats away from my fish tank. Just spray it on the rug and see what happens, it make take more than one application, but the stuff works wonders for keeping cats away from things. Best of luck!
