- Q: How to convert kVA (kilo-volt Ampere) to kg/h (kilogram per hour) for diesel generator set (genset)? I want to know the relation about the energy produced (kVA) to the fuel that used (kg/h) in the genset, either it used more diesel fuel or not. i.e the kVA amount produced is 106kVA and the rpm is 1500rpm
- You cannot convert between different types of units. KVA is a unit of power. kilogram per hour is a flow rate. What you are asking is for formula for the efficiency of a diesel generator in terms of energy delivered per liter or kg of fuel, and that is a function of the diesel design, and maintenance. In other words, it can be measured, not calculated.
- Q: If i am using a permanent magnet dc motor as generator then how should i calculate how much electricity the motor will produce ? or lets say i want to produce 1kw power with permanent magnet dc motor then how much hp motor i shd choose
- I'm not an expert on this, but I'll give it my best guess. To try to point you in the right direction. First, you need to know the torque of this magnet. 1 horse power 0.74569 kilowatts So to get a 1 kilowatts, you need 1.35962 horsepower. The motor will have a certain efficiency. I do not know if this is factored in to the motors power rating, however if the efficiency is, say, 90%. Then you will need to divide the horse power by 0.9 to get the correct horse power rating. Is this a motor part of a diesel / fuel generator, or is it part of a wind turbine / water turbine?
- Q: I was wondering what it takes to build a HHO generator I cannot find a FREE guid anywhere. And also if it will work on fuel injected vehicals, a 2000 Jetta GLS to be exact.
- They are a SCAM, and don't work on any vehicle, fuel injected or not. You won't find a free guide because the sellers want your money. Not just my opinion, but the opinion of any competent mechanic, engineer, or anyone with any knowledge of basic physics.
- Q: From what I understand, when the earthquake struck, the nuclear reactors had shut down (control rods were inserted). - if hte control rods had not be inserted it would of catastrophic. the reactors would be working at 100% and no one can shut it down becasue there is no power. left for too long and unable to stop the reaction, it could lead to an actual meltdown like at the Chernobyl. there's a good reason why during any emergency the control rods are inserted. its standard protocol since the very first nuclear reactor experiments back in the late 1930s under some gym in the eastern USA. you want to shut down the most dangerous thing first, the one that has the most potential for catastrophe before doing anything else.

- Q: I don't see why I couldn't use my car's engine as a power generator. I would only need maybe 1000 watts. The car is a 1990 Ford F350 diesel.
- For emergencies? Yes, absolutely with a F350 Ford Diesel engine you have a great powerplant. Just buy a 1000 watt Trace Inverter and connect to your car batteries and you can have 110 or 220 Volts AC to power small items, tools, Tv and emergency lights. They even have a 3000 watt version called Prowatt 3000.

- Well you already said it was a DC generator. By nature all generators generate their output voltage in cycles as they rotate, or even as they go back and forth for a linear generator. Therefore they generate AC, but the commutator converts this to DC. The commutator is a rotary switch that reverses the connection at the correct part of the rotation so that the current always flows one direction. That is DC, direct current instead of AC, alternating current. Sometimes AC generators may be called an Alternator. A shunt generator simply means it is self excited, that is the field magnet is connected across the generator's output, rather than having a separate DC generator for the field.
