Q:My carpet has a sticky feeling, is stained, and just needs an overall really really good cleaning I can accomplish with my vaccum. What is the best cleaner to buy?: What is just as important as the machine, is the cleaning solution and method used to clean the carpet. I've found Rug Doctor brand cleaning supplies to be the best and most economical. Note: Never use products that are not specifically designed for use on carpet. As far as methodology goes, you want to pretreat any stains with an appropriate stain remover. Organic stains require an enzymatic stain remover such as Natures Miracle. After stains are addressed, you pretreat the entire area to be cleaned, either with Natures Miracle, a pretreatment solution, or with Oxy Clean Crystals (make a solution and apply with a spray bottle ). Work the pretreatment into the carpet fibers with a stiff brush. From there you simply use the carpet cleaning machine as per the manufacturer's instructions, though you'll want to use less cleaning solution since you've already got pretreatment on the floor. You may need an anti-foaming agent OR pay close attention to the recovery tank on the machine and empty it before sudsing can be drawn into the motor. Once you've cleaned the carpet with cleaning solution, go back over the whole area with clean hot tap water to rinse. The color of the extraction will tell you if further rinsing is required. Be careful not to over saturate the carpet while cleaning or rinsing, as excess moisture will cause odors and mold/mildew.

Q:how to repair flattened carpet?: I've used several methods to fix mine. If it's a small carpet (like an area rug) you can use a coin (like a quarter). Simply hold it on its side and rub it back and forth over the carpet. Another method is the spray bottle method. Sprits your carpet with water, let is sit for about 15 minutes, and vacuum. This will take 3 or 4 attempts. Always let the carpet completely dry before the next attempt. The last method is a pain, but one that I find works the best. Take a steam iron to your carpet. You'll have to do it in sections if it's a large carpet. After allowing the steam to penetrate deeply into the carpet, take a stiff brush and go over the area until the nap of the carpet it restored to its original condition.

Q:I have a drain under the carpet almost in the middle of the room that needs to be fixed. The room is a big square and the only way to get to the drain is to remove the carpet. I dont know how to remove carpet and how to put it back in without damaging it or making it look bad. how do i do this? i dont really wanna pay someone to come do it for me: Usually carpet is held down with a tack strips that run along the wall. Just pry up the carpet at the walls roll the carpet up to the point you can fix the pipe...... Then after it's finished then roll the carpet back and use a knee kicker or power stretcher to stretch the carpet back into place, then tuck the carpet between the tack strip and the wall...... Also there should be a crawl space under the house, to get to the pipes.......There should some kind of access door to get down there, you just have to find it...... Anyway Good Luck..............

Professionals not only can clean the carpet, they can add special deodorizers so that mold doesn't end up growing in the carpet. Cleaning just one room should cost that much.
