- Q:is it bad to leave wet rugs on horses?
- If the rug is soaked through change it but if its not it won't do any harm and alot of people prefer to leave a wet rug on to dry off. It's a personal choice and like everything else you get people on both sides of the fence. Just do what you think is best for your horse. You can buy rugs that are for stable/turnout in one rug so they are meant to stay on the horse 24 hours long as you take off and put back on at least once a day. And what about horses living out in rugs? their rugs get wet and they stand in them till they dry.

- Regarding the rug burn, it does not look like a very deep wound from the picture. Most scrapes are shallow but painful because a large area of skin is missing. Shallow wounds do not usually scar. My brother went headfirst over the handlebars of his bike about 6 weeks ago and had some really nasty scrapes, some of which were moderately deep, and he didn't scar at all. Just keep it clean, wash it daily with soap and warm water. Keep using the neosporin as well. That will prevent infection and keep it moisturized; both of those things will help speed up healing, and the faster things heal the less likely they are to scar. Once it's all healed there will be some residual redness in the area for probably 3-7 days, but that isn't scarring and it should go away. Regarding you passing out, I would advise a doctor's visit. Getting light headed when standing is called orthostatic hypotension and it has a number of possible causes; some of them are fairly serious, such as a heart problem. Your orthostatic hypotension, plus now an unrelated episode of fainting indicates some sort of underlying problem. Better to go and get checked, just to be safe.

Baking soda will absorb into the stains, removing the ashes from the carpet fibers. 2 Allow the baking soda to set on the carpet for an hour. Use a vacuum cleaner to vacuum up the baking soda from the carpet. 3 Apply dry-cleaning solvent to a clean, white cloth. Sponge the stained carpet with the cloth until the solvent is absorbed. 4 Inspect the carpet for remaining ashes or stains. Repeat the entire process if needed.

- I took mine outside and washed it on an area where I have gravel. A deck would be good also. Try using some bleach and water to lighten it. Rince very well. I put liquid rit dye in a garden sprayer with Hot water and 1/2 cup salt and sprayed the carpet. I waited a couple of hours and mixed up another batch and sprayed it again. After it was somewhat dry I layed it over the fence to dry.

- When you rent the carpet cleaner, there will be cleaning solutions there that you can buy. Use the Oxyclean to pretreat, but do not put it or the Borax in the carpet cleaner machine. They will ruin the machine and then you will have to pay for it or for repairs. Use only the cleaning solutions that are recommended. Ask the person who is renting the machine to you. They know what cleaner to use for what stains. If you have not cleaned your carpet for over 3 years, you may have to do some heavy traffic areas 2 or 3 times to get all the dirt out. But it's worth it, as you will see. I would pretreat the blood stains with the Oxyclean, as directed on the box/canister. Good Luck!
- Q:Someone spilt some blue WKD on my cream carpet and I've tried carpet stain remover, white wine and an industrial carpet cleaning machine. Are there any other ways which will remove the stain?
- I don't know what wkd is, but here is a way to remove most stains that can be removed. A cup of warm water with 2 drops of a liquid laundry soap, mix well. Using your fingers dampen the carpet fibers. Try not to get the back of the carpet wet. After the carpet is wet , make a big pile of white paper towels on top of the wet spot. Now put a weight on top that will not rust or bleed from the water. Maybe a cookie sheet with a brick on top. Leave it covered for 12 to 24 hours. Remove . Look at the paper towel if the stain has transferred to the paper you are on the right track. Just keep doing it until its gone. There is a chance that the wkd has removed the color from the carpet and you can not fix it. Also you may have set the stain with the wine. For your information carpet cleaners have equipment and stain removers that home owners can not buy. Calling a carpet cleaner is a lot less money than replacing the carpet. One last word , your home owners insurance company may cover the cost of replacement.
- Q:Is professionally cleaning a FILTHY carpet enough or should it just be replaced?I am moving into a house with a FILTHY carpet. Truly disgusting, just nasty. The house stinks bad because of it. The landlord says he will get it professionally cleaned. I would rather have all the carpet taken out and replaced...or some other flooring put in. Is professionally cleaning a carpet that great of an idea? Does it only get the top surface clean..or does it clean deep down?
- Professional cleaning can accomplish a lot. I've seen a really grubby carpet that was 5 shades lighter after it was cleaned. Why don't you wait and see how the carpet looks after cleaning?
