- Q:I accidentally dropped my red nail polish on to my carpet... i tried using windex - it faded it a little bit- but i can still see it! anything else i can try? and i am going to have a carpet cleaner person come and clean my carpets so will they be able to get it all out? and could there be a reaction from mixing the windex with the carpet cleaner? - The best way to keep a rug clean is to keep it from getting dirty in the first place. Removing outdoor shoes when entering the house (as people do in most rug-weaving countries) is a good idea if this accords with your lifestyle. Bare-foot or sock-foot traffic is much gentler to a rug than a hard outdoor-shoe sole (or spike heel), and leaving your outdoor shoes at the entrance to the house tracks in much less dirt.

- These rugs may have been designed for prayer but they are not blessed or consecrated or anything like that and for the most part serve a utilitarian purpose. The people who use them will kneel and prostrate on them, so I don't think they will be kneeling on top of sacred images. If the rug has some history or is of an especially ornate design, then it probably won't be cheap enough for him to send of to a child as a plaything. I think he should keep sending these souvenirs, the children will enjoy them and maybe get a glimpse of another culture. If he decides to buy a Koran then he should treat that with respect.

- Yes, you can definitely use a yoga mat. A rug or mat is not actually essential for prayers, the whole point of it is that where you put your head when prostrating must be clean. Feel free to use a whatever you like to pray on or just pray on the bare floor.

- There are two reasons why we need carpets. The first is that when you have to pee really bad and can't make it to the bathroom, you can just pee on the floor and it will soak it up nice and tidily. The second reason is because carpets are warmer than wooden or cement floors and are softer on you toesies. I recommend carpets if you have arthritis. Also, carpets should be pink with black skulls on them. and maybe a blue turtle.
