- Snip the burnt area with scissors (just the fibers). Find an area of rug (under a couch or better, in a dark corner)trim an area about the size of the burn and glue the unburned fibers with a household glue to the cleaned burned area. Actually, cut out from your closet a small piece of carpet pad, get a carpet floor adhesive from your nearest Home Depot. Use small spatula apply glue on floor,on pad, and set carpet on top it. (:
- Q: I have purchased wool rugs which I really like but they have an odour and we have stepped on prickly objects that, when searched for, turn out to be similar to twigs (approx. an inch or more in length) or seeds woven into the wool. The rugs come from a very reputable rug importer that operates in the United States as well as Canada so I'm somewhat surprised at what appears to be poor quality and am considering returning them. Will I find this with all 100% wool handmade rugs? Does cleaning them make any difference?
- If your supplier is buying from village producers, then yes, there will be twigs and seeds in the wool. In a handmade rug, the wool is sheared from sheep that are wandering about and getting dirty. Although the wool will be combed/carded and probably scoured a little, it will not become 100% clean. Textile machinery and harsh chemicals are required to remove every bit of debris from the wool. A 100% wool rug with no debris in it will invariably be machine made. The smell is one of sheep..... again, if you buy heavily scoured, bleached wool the smell is not so strong. A good example of this that can be seen in most yarn stores is the Japanese-produced Noro yarn. It is moderately expensive but small twigs and grasses can still be found in the yarn.

- well theres not really a big reason for it its just that most of the time its the living room and bedrooms that have carpet which makes the floor warm, when you are just walking in your house barefoot you dont want to walk on a cold hardwood floor the whole time, some like carpet because it can be considered a luxory ( i have no idea why it is i guess because its expensive ) others have it just because of the color! well thats the only reasons i have known. if you are buying the apartment you can always take the carpet out of the house, thats what we had to do in our house because of my 2 littlest brothers they would always spill drinks etc. on the floor so we just pulled up the carpet, and there you have it. =)

- I think it's a scent the rug has, probably one of the dogs peed on it without you seeing. Try putting a different rug down, if it stops then I'd put the poop rug under the litter box. :) Hope this helped!

- its going to depend on the type of carpet. if its carpet like what goes into bathrooms yes, but dont use detergents with enzymes like Era. they eat the latex backing. If its an area rug like an oriental rug then no you will need to have it dry cleaned of shampoo it. Most of the time you can get away with just taking the rug outside for a good beating unless it has some stains.
- Q: I need to clean my sage green carpet.....they look bad. Does the Rug Doctor work? How much does it cost? Does it make the carpet very wet? Would it be best IF I do get it to use it when I can have windows and doors open so it would air out? I really wanna clean my carpet because it is driving me crazy. - rug doctors work great! last time I rented one from the supermarket, it was 50 or 60 dollars (CDN) plus you have to give them a credit card number. by the time I bought shampoo ( I use vinegar as the defoamer) it cost 80 or 90 dollars total. how wet the carpet gets depends on how wet you make it--the machine gets most of the water out. if you plan on shampooing furniture and stairs, be sure to get the upholstery attatchment

I have read about using vinegar and I tried it on one spot but I dont know that I used the right amount because it didnt seem to work. - You need to get the carpet professionally cleaned. Your cleaning added soap to the carpeting. Your portable did not extract the soap out. Imagine putting laundry detergent on your shirt and not rinsing it. Walk on it for a few days and see how dirty it gets. Have the Professional use DE FOAMER. Call 1800 chem dry Once the carpets are clean do not use Spotters with soap in it. Home depot carries Chem Dry Stain Extinguisher Do not use vinegar unless you know what the stain is and what you are doing. It is an acid. If you have an acidic stain and use vinegar you increase the pH. We use vinegar to help correct pH problems when a carpet discolors from previous cleaners. We also use litimus paper to check for ph.

- Rent yourself a regular carpet cleaner from a hardware store or a rental company. Make sure the carpet cleaner comes with a furniture attachment. I recommend using Oxi-Clean and a boiling water solution in the carpet cleaner and pretreat the really dirty areas with something equal to a 409 spray cleaner/degreaser first. The problem with all those other cleaners is that there still in the dirty carpet with the dirt. The best way to clean carpet is to wash it, rinse it, then let it dry, just like you do with anything else including but not limited to yourself, your clothes, and your dishes.prespray it with a degreaser, then steam clean it with the Oxi-Clean solution, because the dirt and the cleaner is extracted when your done. It may take two times now that there is so much crud and cleaner in the carpet. Also the hotter the water the better the cleaner will work, so I would recommend boiling the water before making your solution. GOOD LUCK!! IT SHOULD TURN OUT GREAT!! This is how the detailer at our car dealership does every car.
