Q: I accidentally spilled a little tung oil on a carpet this morning (stubborn cap = messy opening). Knowing that oil finishes can spontaneously combust, what is the safest way for me to clean the spill? Not much was spilled - possibly two teaspoons worth. I absorbed as much as I could with paper towels, and the rest got absorbed by the carpet.

Q: is there anything people can suggest to get an odour out of an area rug... it says specifially that I can't shampoo it so thats out.I can try febreeze but that always seems to just mask the odour it doesn't actually get rid of it.I think the odour itself stems from our vacuum, it needs replacing but until then I need to figure out a work around for this smelly rug as my infant usually has his play blanket ontop of it and has tummy time on there so I really don't want it to smell anymore.1. Can't shampoo2. Febreeze only masksAny suggestions please!!
You could try a steam cleaner with an odor-out additive. There are also pet odor sprays that are different than Febreeze that may work. I have a Bissel steam cleaner, and just use that to steam clean things with an odor fighting additive mix. If it gets real bad you can always try to steam clean it anyway on a small area and see if it tears it up. Plus there's the trash, but I know that's a bummer. Vanilla extract gets odors out but it stains. Depends on how dark the rug is. Definately for any type of plastic cooler or plastic in general, I always wipe it with vanilla extract after washing it.
Q: Hi yahoo answers give me a suggestions to remove the rugs from the carpet..
Rugs can be cleaned by yourself or letting them lay there unclean...Months have been known to devour areas of rugs due to lack of vacuuming... Also, dirt breaks down the delicate fibers of your oriental rug and causes uneven wear... Our cleaning process is gentle and customized to your specific rug type. Your rug will be cleaned off-site, and it yields high satisfaction....
Q: just found out my light turnout rugs from last year to keep my horses protected from the wind and rain as they live out all year but they are kinda stinky as theyv been storred in the yards shed, the writing on the tag has wore away so i cant see what it says about washing them?they are amigo light turnouts.do you wash yours in any particular way? and what do you use to wash them in?
They should be washed regularly to help keep your horse's coat clean and healthy. This is every rug - indoor, outdoor, fleeces, sheets etc. The easiest way to clean it yourself is to get a big tub (a bath will do!) and fill it with hot water and soap flakes (get something suitable for washing baby clothes in and make sure it is non bio) - I use something called Granny's Soap Flakes, get them in Tesco :). Put the rug in the water with the soap flakes and use a brush or a stick or something to move it round and clean it thoroughly. You might want to leave it to soak for a little while first. If it's really muddy, I suggest hosing it off with the hosepipe first to get the worst off. Then once you've cleaned it as much as you can in the tub, rinse thoroughly and hang out to dry. You may need to wash it more than once if it's very dirty. They will need to be re-proofed at least every other winter or they will not keep your horse dry. To be honest, I find it easier to get my rugs cleaned professionaly. Most places offer a collection/delivery service and it's not expensive - usually about ?12 for a turnout wash and ?10 for a stable. That's not bad when you consider how much time and effort you have to put into washing it yourself! Plus they get them much cleaner!!
Q: Which kind of carpet is good if it is cement floor and I do not want to decorate
The cheapest is polypropylene carpet.
Q: does anyone have this carpet cleaner? I saw some good reviews on this and it is in my price range. But in the reviews it didn't say much about cleaning up pee stains. I need need this carpet cleaner to specifically clean my dogs pee stains. If you don't know about this carpet cleaner any other suggestions on another carpet cleaner?
I'm not aware of that particular cleaner, no, but for pet stains, I would recommend Simple Solution's Extreme Carpet Shampoo. I know that it works with any carpet cleaning machine, and that it's specifically formulated to attack pet stains.
Q: Carpet has rich patterns, gorgeous colors and diversified shapes, which can not only become the coordination agent of space, but also integrate space to improve texture. For example, the overall tone is monotonous. Paving a carpet with rich colors can not only make the space less empty, improve the sense of hierarchy, but also meet the personalized needs of residents.
The foot feeling of the carpet is comfortable, such as wood floor, marble, ceramic tile and other ground materials. In the cold and humid environment, the foot feeling is not so comfortable. Paving the carpet can well alleviate such problems.
Q: my carpet is dirty it has stains and needs a good cleaning what can i use in a shampooer to clean it
Use a steamer.
Q: I have a Nepalese oriental rug. I assume its wool (thought it may have man made fibres in it).I've cleaned various spills with water over the years - with no probs. It really needs a clean.. can I clean it with cold water? Is this dangerous?I'd like to just take it out and wash it down with a hose... Thanks
Check out this site, it seems as if they have a great step by step guide to in home shampooing your Oriental rug. I have used the advice on their stain removal guide quite a bit and they worked great. Best of luck!
Q: I have this OLD area rug from my grandmother. The pattern is beautiful and the rug itself is is good condition, however I'd like to brighten it up! -Especially the white areas which have now gone yellow. Anyone have any ideas on how to clean/treat this rug and restore/brighten it without damaging it with harsh chemicals, like bleach?
if it's an old rug and is from your grandmother, then I would think you would consider it an antique and treat it properly. The proper way is merely to store it or place it on the wall as an antique. I doubt very much if you could clean the yellow, and the threads would have weakened over the years. I'd keep it as a treasure. It could be valuable, plus you might want to pass it down to your children. Buy yourself another rug to walk on.
