- Q: In the corner of my bedroom the carpet smells musty, almost like this mildew moldy smell even the lower part of wall stinks. It has a wooden border (if that helps) the water heater is also on the other side (outdoor patio). I've used baking soda, carpet cleaning spray. The manager had them remove the pad under the carpet only and had it steam clean but all this only seem to mask the smell for a few days. Today the supervisor came and said something about painted the walls. I know what mold/mildew smells like (for I lived in a place that had it for over 3 years) . But the management and there clean crew insists that its nothing. I even had a few friends come over smell the carpet they said it stinks. I don't know what else to do.....any suggestions?
- the carpet cleaning companies have microbes that eat the bacteria in a carpet and when that bacteria is gone [dead] the microbes die and leave no odor == this is something that you can purchase and pour on the spot and near area of the carpet and cure
- Q: I have a wool rug that I left in my garage for many years. Because of that it has developed a musty smell from the humidity. It doesn't have mildew, just a funky smell. What can I do to get rid of it? Thanks.
- Allow okorder ., to locate a pro near you. Do not take any suggestions to pour powder type fresheners on to your rug. They are extremely difficult to remove, unless the cleaner has a machine called a Rug Badger. These machines vibrate the rug with high intensity vibrations over a stainless steel grid to remove the dirt/soil/ powders, contaminating the rug. Not every carpet cleaner has these machines as they are expensive. Therefore do not administer powder additive cleaners to the rug, as they will be there forever.
- Q: What is the role of the carpet in living room?
- This depends on yourself, laying a carpet in the living room looks warm and would be more comfortable, sit or lie down on it very casually. But it is not convenient to clean up, personally I love laying carpets beside bed or in front of sofa in the living room. putting the carpet, the whole house will look very warm. If you are afraid that it has trouble cleaning up, you can buy a vacuum cleaner or stick the dust and batting with a duct tape when you have nothing to do, just can be used as a activity after dinner.
- Q: Wonder how many people have red carpets.... I mean like curtains and carpets matching and stuff like that.
- i don't have any carpet ;)
- Q: i have a extra room in my house that used to be a lil girls room. the carpet is sort of a reddish pinkish color. i dont have a girl anymore and would like to turn the room into a play room for my son. can i dye the carpet? if so wat colors could i change it to and where could i get the dye?
- The easiest and surest way to change the color is to change the carpet. If the present carpet is nylon, there is no way to dye it evenly. Go to commercial carpet installer house and purchase an end run from a job of a color that works for you...you will spend far less money doing this than trying to dye a carpet that will make a mess. Choose level loop commercial carpet....will never wear out under residential use.
- Q: I'm looking for a rug that I've seen on TV many times, yet I can't find it anywhere on the internet. It's a large brown area rug and it has a huge white/cream hollow circle on it. Like the outline of a circle on it. I may have seen it on the Jeff Leis show one time, but I've seen it other places too. Please help?!?!?

- Q: What is pearly carpet, what is pearly carpet?
- Colorful colors, colorful effect, is another milestone in your wedding. This product is divided into three types:A, fine surface pearly carpet (surface pearl powder is smooth and delicate).B, large pearl carpet (surface with large particles of pearl, brighter and brighter colors).C, glossy pearl carpet (on the original basis, made a layer of glue on the surface of the surface, smooth surface, not falling film).
- Q: we have some stains on the carpet and wanted to now if we could use zout on the carpets????????
- Yes it works great use a shop vac after to suck up any water
- Q: I have been living in a rental home for 2yrs and notice that the carpet is old. Due to the fact that i have had it clean 1 time steam clean and 2 times rental machine and stains will not come up. Asked rental company once and they said the owner does not have enough money to replace carpet. The carpet is over 10yrs old and you can tell because the edges are coming up and the man who clean the carpet one time said they don't make that kind of carpet any more. How can i get the owner to replace the carpet.
- Send him a certified letter with return receipt - this way you know he recieved it. Let him know that the carpet is starting to come up and that you consider it a safety hazard. Ask politely if he/she can replace the carpet. Look up landlord - tenant laws in your state, there may be specifications on when carpet needs to be replaced. This may be a time limit or if certain conditions are met (ie: coming loose, excessive tears/damage, etc.) If you can find something that states he has a responsibility to replace the carpet then include that in your letter. If you can't find anything specific according to your state laws then you'll just have to keep asking politely. If he takes no action and it IS his legal responsibility then the next step would be to send him another certified letter stating that he has (specify a time limit, I would say 30 days) to replace the carpet or you will replace it and withhold the amount from your rent. Check and see if this is legal in your state - it is in most.
- Q: I am planning to rent Rug Doctor Pro from home depot. It says its a carpet cleaner. Someone told it's not steam cleaning. Whats the difference ? Should I just go with the carpet cleaning ?
- Rug Dr is cold or cool water extraction. Steam cleaning is hot water extraction. That means the spray hitting the carpet is at least 190°. The only way you can steam clean is with a truck mounted hot water extractor. I have a $2000 carpet extractor with a built in 2000 watt heater. Technically, this is still not hot water extraction. I put water in at 135° the heater by using a 1000 watt pre-heater, depending on how fast I work heats the water to 160-175°, this is merely cool. This whole rig requires 3 outlets on 3 circuits. Since that is often not possible, I run 2-3 circuits off a generator. I like to run the pre-heater off the buildings power whenever possible. Do not rent a Rug Dr. or any other machine. They put down too much water and then don't suck it back up. If you buy a little Hoover, you might put down 2 gallons and recover 1 gallon in your home. The Rug Dr is going to put down about 4 gallons and recover 2, so your choice is dirty or wet. I typically put down 12 gallons and recover 10-10.5 gallons. Your carpet will be cleaner and dryer. A truck mounted machine might put down 24 gallons and recover 23 gallons. That is your best bet. Some carpet cleaners use other methods besides hot, cool or cold water extraction. Rug Dr and any home machine is considered cold water extraction. It is unlikely you'd be using water any hotter than 115-120°, which for carpet cleaning is cold. Anything other than hot or cool water extraction voids your carpet's warranty. Those other methods are really only appropriate for loop pile, glued down, no pad, commercial carpet, not cut pile residential carpet and tackless strips and with padding.
