Q: How often is the average for replacing living room or bedroom carpet, I know it depends on the traffic, etc but just wondering averages and when is it time to replace instead of having it cleaned: 10 years is the average life span of carpet. Lots of variables there such as traffic, pet stains etc. when it wears out or uglies out is when its time to replace it.

Q: Apparently I put too much woolite on our carpet, and it won't come out. Ive tried wet rags but it just keeps foaming. Is there an easy way to get this soap out?: use a steam cleaner

Q: I'm going to remove laminate that's already on it, I was wondering, before installing this carpet, I'm going to have Luna do it since they install it for free.Do I need anything under the carpet/on the floor before they install the carpet?(I heard people put wood or baseboard or something under the carpet, then like some soft pads or something. Anyone have more information?)I really want to get this done right for my home office, thanks.: I don't know much, but I would install some sort of padding under the carpet - the floor people should do it with the installation of the carpet (if you purchase it from them). The company you purchase the carpet from should also know this. Good luck! PS - get a thickness of padding that goes with your carpet - plush carpet may need less padding. One thing things to consider - Is there enough height under my door to fit carpet and padding? (Or will I have to cut the door down?) Also, if you don't have a thin and hard carpet, then you will have to get a plastic-floor thing to roll your chair on (if you have a rolling char).

Q: I already have carpet in my house.The carpet is less than a year old.I was thinking of changing the (top)carpet only since the padding is still in excellent condition but our family says to just get our floor laminated.which is cheaper?: When we bought our house we ripped all the carpet out and replaced it with laminate wood and ceramic tile. I love my laminate wood! It's not as noisy or cold as you might think. We put down a good moisture/noise barrier underneath it which gives it a solid, quiet sound. And it's not cold at all, it stays the temp of your house. Carpet holds alot of dirt, mold, bugs, and bacteria, no matter how much you vaccuum. And it's terrible for allergy sufferers. I have no allergy problems now that we have no carpet. Remember you can always put rugs down where you need some softness. We bought all of our flooring from a discount builder supply store. We paid $1.00/sq. ft. for the laminate wood and 68cents/sq. ft. for the 12x12 tile. There's no need to pay high prices for this stuff, just make sure it's good quality. We saved even more money by doing the work ourselves. I say ditch the carpet and go for laminate wood.

Q: Urine odor is old and on natural dye rug.: You can wash down the walls with a solution of TSP (tri sodium phosphate) which can be found in the paint department. Air sponges will help absorb the odour in the air. Finally, a really good primer/sealant and a good bathroom paint should take care of the problem. If that STILL doesn't work - the smell could be coming from the grout in the tiles (if any) around the toilet. In that case, lift the toilet and clean with TSP or bleach, replace wax seal, re seat the toilet and caulk around the base of the toilet. If you do use bleach and/or ammonia - DO NOT MIX THEM!!! They produce a very dangerous, nasty gas. Good luck!
